Westboro vs CFA: Different?

Featured Replies

Too vague. What do you think that "judgement" might look like? What do you think he thinks that judgement might look like?

I don't know and neither do you. You assume it means what the Westboro people do. I assume he means God will judge us harshly for supporting something he's against come judgement day. Completely different.

Incorrect. It's a matter of degree.

Many are against gay marriage. Does that mean they all think that God is going to reign hell upon us?

Where the hell does the CFA CEO say that?

If you don't (and I don't) how do you know their message/intent is different? That's my point.

Because you've already concluded with this thread that you think they're similar. That's why this entire thread is beyond pointless.

You need to step back and pay attention to detail.

The quoted response was to show how your contention that I am assuming all who are against gay marriage are saying the same as Westboro is inaccurate.

Feel free to exit at any point.

I've concluded nothing. I propose it for discussion and to challenge conventional thinking.

It's absolutely accurate. Most people that are against gay marriage are so because they feel it is against God's will. Those same people believe, because those that support it are going against God's will, that they will have to answer for it come judgement day. It's the SAME EXACT message as what the CFA CEO said. So when you compare one to the idiots from Westboro, you're comparing them all.

I've concluded nothing.

they're saying the same thing. So is it just that the CEO is smoother?

Short memory must come with old-age....:D

By definition and by the title of the thread I am "comparing."

However, AGAIN, I do not believe that ALL who are against gay marriage think it will cause the world to end AS Westboro does.

I can't make that point much simpler for you to understand.

If you think the quote I provided simply means he believes God disagrees with those who think gay marriage is OK then fine. I think many did not take that quote to be that simple.

But let's get to your statement "that they will have to answer for it come judgement day." Do you believe that in order for us to see the err of our ways God would punish us in any way?

All I've concluded is that they are both against homosexuality.

The debate centers on degree and what will happen.

Do I believe that? Not at all, but then again I'm not one who believes Gay Marriage is wrong, so I'm probably not the one to ask for that discussion.

OK. So this discussion isn't for you.

I'm curious to hear from those that are against it and/or who believe that God may indeed punish us to straighten us out. I'm no scripture expert so I will see what those that are have to add.

I can add that having two parents that are 1) very religious and 2) do believe gay marriage is wrong, I'm 100% certain that they do believe God would judge harshly those that are okay with it.

I'm not nitpicking here. The key to this thread for me is to determine what exactly that means. I realize I'm asking you to put words into their mouth but do you think they believe God would somehow punish us today in order to get us to change? IF so, what might that punishment look like? Could it be in the form of an honorable person dying? As we always say we do not know why the Lord takes people when they do.

I don't think they believe that God would punish anyone in the way you're thinking. I think they believe it would be more geared towards an enternal judgement, not so much one of this world. :idunno:
