The Xplosion lose in heartbreaking fashion this evening, 5-4 in the bottom of the 7th with two out, to the Virginia Legends Elite. The Xplosion miss on great opportunity to score "big time" in the 2nd when they had bases loaded and no one out and only come up with 1 run. They plate 2 more in the 3rd on a groundout and a Lauren Willett (Cooper) suicide squeeze and take a 3-0 led. They had a chance to go up 4-0 in the top of the 4th, but Dallis Knotts (Boone Co.) is tagged out at the plate trying to tag-up from 3rd.

In the bottom of the 5th the Virginia Legends Elite get a led off walk, then a sac-bunt and the runner on 1st makes it all the way to 3rd. The next batter drives one to Knotts at SS, who goes to her knees on the play and fires home, however Jessica Koors (Cooper) can't hang on for the "sure" out. The Virginia Legends Elite load the bases with one out, but a "missile" to center goes off the glove of Kelsea Satchwell (Gallatin Co.) and all three runners score and it's now 4-3 Virginia Legends Elite. The score remains 4-3 until the top of 7 when with one out Kelsea Satchwell "drills" one to the right-center gap for a triple, she would score on a passed ball. With two out Jessica Koors burns the centerfielder for a double, but is stranded, however the score is tied at 4's. In the bottom of the 7th with a runner on 1st and two out, a shot down the leftfield line that is fair by inches plates the winning run, as she beats the relay to home.

The heat and humidity again did it's number on a few of the girls. Just before the start of the game Erika Stein (Boone Co.) had to return to the hotel and after pitching a heck of game Jenna Johnson (Boone Co.) had to leave the game in the 5th with another asthma attack.

The girls played great all weekend and finished 4-1-1.

Talk about a team (Bandits) from the past! I remember playing them back in the day when I was playing. Nice to see some of the older teams still around!

Thanks for the play by play. Enjoyed the details.

My pleasure, the next best thing to being there, I guess.

A team we beat, Hampton Roads (Va) Vipers, wins the tourney and the team we tied and lost to by 1 in the bottom of 7, Virginia Legends Elite, finishes runner-up.
