Just to comment as I just got back

 

Maile puts down a SAC bunt and the announcer said it looked like he had done it a thousand time. Well in practice at CovCath at least he did it in his 4 years there at least 10,000 time in practice, :-) and yes in one game I saw him put down a SAC bunt!

Oregon now leads Austin Pea 6 nothing in the 5th inning. If the Cats can find a way to win two more looks all but certain they will be heading to the west coast now.

It just seems like against Kent State in these games that every time they have a real chance they can't get that hit they need or they make the exact play that will fail to get them a score. They had the runners at second and third and hit it to second, denying them a run when just about anywhere in the outfield would have got it.

The need to get some action when the runners are in scoring position need to get this guy on 2nd right now home.

This UK game feels like another 21 inning affair.

I strongly suspect that Kentucky just got themselves eliminated.

 

Gave up a 3 run HR for those of you who aren't listening or following. 3-0 Kent St. heading into the bottom of the 8th.

Well, UK apparently decided maybe it would be time to start hitting now. Just missed a two run shot, but got a double off the wall to score one and it's 3-1 Kent State. No outs, man on second. Kent State going to the pen. Batter represents the tying run.

Single to left puts runners at the corners with 1 out. Tying run on first, go-ahead to the plate. McCarthy up, he is 0/1 on the day, two walks.

Flyout to center scores the runner from third, and it's 3-2 Kent State. Maile to the plate, 0/2. His last at-bat he lined into a double play. Two outs.

Maile flies out to deep center with the catch made against the wall. Another long out sends it to the ninth.

BTW, it may be important now, the announcer really thought at the time that Kent State hit their HR that it wasn't out of the park. It apparently hit the fence in his estimation below the yellow line and came back into the field of play. The players appealed to the umpires, but the manager never did. Apparently it was very confusing to everyone in the press box. It would have scored one run rather than three.

 

Would've helped to have a TV crew there but can't get that lucky can we?

The top of the ninth was over before you could blink, and it is now the bottom of the ninth, Kent State leading 3-2.
