Mercer County 7 Danville 5 (12th Region Final)

Featured Replies

Mercer County scored four runs in the bottom of the second, capped by a two-run walk-off home run by J.T. Long to win their second consecutive regional title. The Titans beat Danville, who was the host school, after splitting a pair with the Admirals during the regular season.

My bad on that. Mis-typed. Obviously meant to say 7th.

I was concerned about Danville's pitching depth in this tournament, but I don't think that ended up being the case. Looks like it was just two terrific teams. Good luck to Mercer County in their second trip to the state tournament and congratulations to Danville (and their strong senior class) on a great season.

How big of school is Mercer County, enrollment-wise? How about for Danville?

(BTW, not making any point here - just curious).

Using the KHSAA data for football (boys only) from 2011, Danville had 281 boys while Mercer County had 521 boys. So Mercer is roughly twice the size of Danville.

Just curious? WTH does that have to do with anything. Danville beat West Jessamine and West is a bigger school than Mercer.

I was at this game and I am glad I was. Great great game to be at. I think Andrew Lasure came in to pitch in the 5th and Mercer couldn't hit him until they got 4 straight hits in the bottom of the 7th to end the game.
