Coach Maxwell question

Featured Replies

I read somewhere that Coach Maxwell has been coaching at Dixie longer than I thought. He is a very good baseball coach but an even better person. You love seeing good things happen to good people.

Does anyone happen to know what Coach Maxwells record is at Dixie?

Dixie - Congrats on a great year and continued success.

I believe it's "Maxwell".

I read that Coach Max had 556 wins coming into 2012.

2012 is about his 30th year.

I agree, se se, that he is a good guy to talk to.

I went back and looked at the year to year schedules on KHSAA. Max recorded his 500th win on April 27, 2009. Dixie won 8 more games that year to finish at 508 total coaching wins. They won 30 games in 2010 (538 total). 20 wins in 2011 put Max at 558 entering this season. The 27 victories Dixie has so far accumulated this season has Coach Maxwell currently at 585 wins as a head coach. This leaves his 18th on the all time baseball career coaching wins list for the state of Kentucky.

Max is a great guy and coach who still has the passion for the kids at Dixie and the game of baseball. His first round matchup with Krumps means that there were about 1400 victories coaching in that game. Remarkable for two coaching legends in NKY.

I did a fairly lengthy pre-season NKY baseball preview writeup for BGP a few years ago and got to talk at length with Coach Maxwell. He was super to talk to and pretty clear he had a nice sense of humor. Love to meet the guy in person sometime.

Here's what I found on the KHSBCA website regarding winningest currently active Kentucky baseball coaches:

From NKY:

#4 Krumpelbeck (841)

#7 Maxwell (585)

#19 Roesel (386)

#25 Schulkens (299) - which, btw, worries me a tad since his 300th could potentially come in the 9th semi-final against Ryle!

#29 Myerhoff (272)

Great job by all these fine coaches. Still a ways to go to match Kentucky's all-time winningest coach - Larry Gumm of Green County High School with 1006 wins!
