Agreed as both had good showings in Lexington Invitational. Boone loses heartbreaker game to #9 ranked Lafayette last night and beats # 2 ranked Eastern earlier today.

Agree, the 33rd is wide open. Conner has won 7 in a row with wins over NCC, Cov Cath, Brossart, Scott, Tates Creek, Louisville Southern and Powell County. Pretty impressive. They are now winning all the one-run games that were heartbreakers earlier in the year. And they did it this weekend in Lexington without Blake Maines, who is arguably their best all-around player. I think getting senior Jake Williams back from his injury has given them a boost and helped anchor the lineup.

The team seems to be playing more as a team with timely hits when they are needed. The defensive side still needs to tighten up a little bit to avoid the big innings. If they do that they should be fine. It all comes down to the Boone/Conner gfame in first round of District play.

 

Arguably, Maines is the best all around pitcher without a doubt. However, not even close to the best player/leader on the team. You lead by example with your play on and off the field.

 

33rd District should have 3 great games so whoever makes it into the 9th region tournament should have a chance to make a deep run. Good luck to all 4 teams in the 33rd.

Believe tournament is being held at Cooper this year. I do not know this for certain, but assume the #1/#4 (Ryle/Cooper) game is Monday night and the #2/#3 (Boone/Conner) game is Tuesday night, with championship scheduled for Wednesday. Will try to confirm tomorrow.
