Edmund4 Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Who are the top tennis teams in the 13th region going to be this year? Does anyone have any thoughts?
Mator23 Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 I beleive that North and South will both be down this year since they lost some of their better players. North lost their top two boys players which includes regional winner Sam Patterson, while South lost their top girls player in Shoko Fujio. I predict that as always Corbin will be on top in the boys and Middlesboro in the girls.
Edmund4 Posted January 2, 2006 Author Posted January 2, 2006 I would agree with Corbin's boys being the team to beat but don't overlook Clay County's girls. They lost last year's region champ Sarah Yost but everybody else returns. They could give Middlesboro a run for their money in the region.
addout Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Corbin for the boys and Clay in the Girls should be the #1 teams.
Mator23 Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Corbin for the boys and Clay in the Girls should be the #1 teams. Well, if these are the two best teams then who are some of the top individual prospects.
play2 Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Sarah Burchell and Melanie Smith are Clay County's top 2 players. Both are sophmores.
Edmund4 Posted January 5, 2006 Author Posted January 5, 2006 So who are some of the other contenders in boys besides Corbin?
13th Analyst Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Megan Mars from Middlesboro is the top girls player in the region hands down. Ealier this season she beat Melanie Smith of Clay County 8-0. Not too mention, the Middlesboro girls are 13-0 with wins over several regional opponents. I would say the only other individual that has a chance to play Mars close is Baker from Knox Central. Mars has already signed with Georgetown College.
4chs Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 Well, if these are the two best teams then who are some of the top individual prospects. Corbin's doubles team of Ryan Logan and Blake Freeman are very good and they should be able to make a strong showing at state this year. Freshman Lance Freeman plays #1 singles for the Hounds and he will be one of the favorites to win the region title.

If you are going to post scores and stats at least make sure that they are correct especially if you are going to claim to be an "analyst".

Edmund4 Posted May 2, 2006 Author Posted May 2, 2006 I say Jessica Baker for #1 in the 13th. I agree.
13th Analyst Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 I agree. Mars beat Baker last year and is the favorite to beat her again.

You're right instead of 8-0 it was 12-4. Either way, it was an obliteration.

Well if everybody on here just made up stats and scores with no basis in fact then this board would be pretty useless wouldn't it? And 4 games means a whole lot to who the #1 player in the region is seeing as how Baker beat Smith 6-0, 6-0.
