^Good thing you aren't calling the shots...They'd be morons to cripple themselves with a contract as big as Williams is going to command.

Can't see how they could cripple themselves with a 50 million $ cap surplus. This aint baseball, they got the jack to get anyone out there. They just refuse to do so. They'll let all of the big boys sign, then cheap out on the scraps.

They have a lot of needs and putting a huge chunk of money into a position that isn't really one of them would be just plain stupid.

^ I agree with that but it's not like they are going to put that money to a big time FA at positions of need.

Megatron wasn't a FA but wow....

According to ESPN, Calvin Johnson: seven years, $132 million, $60 million guaranteed.

We all know exactly what they're going to do with that money

So you think they'll go big time for one of their "needs"?

Where did I say that?

They've already said they're focusing on signing their own guys and building through the draft. It's a terrible decision, but so is just throwing a ton of money at the best player available, regardless of need.

I don't know. Mario Williams on the line changes the whole defense. Vincent Jackson opposite AJ might have made a difference. Gaither or Nicks on the OL? Nah, let's sit back and see who falls through the cracks. Huh? maybe these names help sell out the stadium? Nah, just stick that money in your pocket Mike...

^Do you even read what I post, or just make stuff up as you go?

Where did I say they were being smart? You said they should've went after Mario Williams, and that would simply be stupid. VJax wouldn't go anywhere he wasn't going to be "the guy" so he would've been useless to pursue. A guy like Meachem would've been smart to go after, but there's still guys like Manningham and Lloyd available who are much better suited for the Bengals.

An OLineman is a must, and I'm disappointed they didn't go after one, but it would be a terrible decision to just see the biggest named guys available and go after them when they aren't good fits or don't fill a need (Williams, VJax).

Just responding to " focused on keeping their guys" I wasn't really responding to you directly at all. WR is a need. DE may not be as pressing as some other holes, I agree. I just wish they would do something to get some excitement going. Same old, same old has been well proven not to work for these guys.

Kendall Langford is visiting the Bengals. Never heard of him, 7.5 sacks in his 4 year career and none last year. . Nice cheap option it looks like.

Wonder why they'd bring in a DE???

The Law Firm is visiting with the Bengals. Green-Ellis that is not one to represent the players.
