Frederick Douglass at Corbin Predictions/Updates
Redhound54 replied to 16thBBall Fan's topic in KY Football (High School)
No one really lives in the city limits of Corbin. Just outside of proper city limits are several subdivisions, as well as kids from the surrounding tri county area. -
Lawson is a stud. Easily best RB Corbin has seen.

Corbin 27 Franklin County 7
Redhound54 replied to 16thBBall Fan's topic in KY Football (High School)
Early momentum swing for Corbin on a 4th down stop on the opening drive + Moorman fumble on the next possession put Franklin playing from behind very early. Corbin owned the line of scrimmage. Franklin did a nice job run blocking for Moorman. Corbin didn't blitz (not uncommon at all) and forced Mattison to win with his arm. He hurt his leg and had no ability to get the ball downfield. The common theme in every game is Corbin's depth and physical style of play. All three teams that have faced the Hounds looked miserable in the 4th quarter. Franklin made the right move subbing their starters out despite it being a 27-7 game with about 6-7 mins remaining in the game. Their stars were taking some big shots. -
Central 20 Corbin 19 (Class 3A State Championship)

I called a few officiating buddies who advised the rule describes a scrimmage kick as live if it does not clear the goal line. Could be inaccurate or confusion with the college rule as this scenario doesn't arise a bunch, but it's an interesting talking point. -

The missed field goal at the end of the game was a live ball. 🤷🏻♂️ -
35 penalties between the teams. Lots of which were dead ball personal fouls. Shew. London Stephney is fast, makes the Bell County offense go. I like that Corbin made the conscious decision to establish the line of scrimmage and committed to running the football tonight. Best performance by the Hounds' offensive line of the season.

(3A Championship) Boyle County/Corbin Updates

Boyle’s offensive line is so impressive. The down block, clinging to the linebacker, and the trap blocks have been masterful. That smith kid has unreal field awareness in his route running. This is a tough team. -

What a bogus overturned call and spot. Refs are horrendous. -

Botched call in the end zone. Touchdown catch. At worst, Touchdown fumble recovery. -

Nice stand from Corbin's defense. Simms makes a heck of a play from backside linebacker. -

Boyle is pounding Corbin with the counter trey. Linebackers are playing on their heels and not filling the point of attack. Corbin needs to slow it down and sustain some offense. -
#2 Boyle County vs. #3 Corbin (3A State Final)
Redhound54 replied to 16thBBall Fan's topic in KY Football (High School)
I've mulled it over long enough, playing this game several times in my head. I've watched Corbin practice twice this week; the game plan looks very narrowly tailored to account for Boyle's strengths. Boyle thrives on turnovers, +36 on the season. Seems like short fields is likely a norm. Corbin is stingy with the football; has excelled at not putting their defense with their backs against the wall. Corbin maintains the line of scrimmage, does not let Boyle wear down their defense with long sustained drives, and plays turnover free.... Corbin 28 Boyle 17. Go Hounds. -

Snyder did not start at corner last season; Lucas Ellison and Cam Maguet played corner, DJ Murphy at safety. Snyder did see some reps last season but did not start to my recollection. -

Corbin has to establish the line of scrimmage. They get Boyle's front blocked, they win; they don't, they lose. Sizemore throws a nice deep ball and it's especially effective when Corbin can run it. Corbin needs to control the clock and tempo. The Redhound defense is vicious when it's fresh. Noah Taylor, Ethyn Simms, and Grant Gibson have been all over the field throughout the year. Taylor looked like a man possessed at Central. Fulfill these keys and don't turn the ball over, I like Corbin 28-21. -
You're dead wrong and your obsessive hatred of Corbin is truly sad. I think playing defending Tennessee state champ Alcoa (and winning), Beechwood, and Mayfield have them aptly prepared for game speed. But whatever, harp on the district games, ya know...the ones Corbin doesn't voluntarily schedule nor control, and ignore the front end, which is objectively harder than any other team in SEKY. Makes sense.
