Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt. Abraham Lincoln -

Obviously no one can know if or when HHS loses. I believe they are playing well enough to make a long run but I haven't seen JC or OHS so making a statement about the possible matchup or outcome is a waste of time. It would seem CCH would have a great desire to play HHS yet again but only time will tell if that occurs. I do know that this year's HHS has lost a few key players and that should be cause for concern. That stated they filled the holes admirably last evening in BG. I also know many detractors of HHS will point to last years championship game yet lets not forget that Collins played a nearly perfect game and had a very improbable win by way of the backup QB completing the winning pass. Lastly the Birds have a couple weeks to heal the less severe injuries which should add some depth to certain positions. It is unfortunate for Abner, Watson and a few other seniors their playing season has ended but HHS does have a remarkable ability to bounce back from the loss of players of their ability. -
its interesting your comment about envy. Many in NKY haven't the same feeling, moreover many have great dislike for HHS football. I do believe many schools, Newport Catholic, Covington Catholic, Beechwood to name a few, have equally passionate following but HHS seems to have a special quality around the football program.

Quite a few substitutions in 2nd half. Nice job by the players filling in for the injured. Good running effort by Ehrlage and Kendall. Hoge threw well yet again. WC seemed very uninspired. -

Yes it did. But, anyone likely could have scored in those goal line runs. Maybe just maybe spread the wealth? This by a coach that doesn't call his team to take a knee on the last play. -
Will Highlands remain #1 in the new poll?

I didn't know Cooper had a team. HHS will remain #1 for reasons stated by others. Where is Scott? -

He played really well tonight," Doug Ramsey said of his son. "They had trouble. He's a little faster than they were. We did a good job of blocking for him and then once he got in their secondary, they had a really tough time with him." Their quarterback is a good player," Doug Ramsey said. "Let me tell you, he's very elusive. He changes directions so well and we would get pressure on him and then he would get out of that pressure. He made some big plays for them." Quotes from the Elder coach.... can't remember his name... really! "their quarterback" ? IMO he calls his son's number quite a bit near the goal line.... you know, the Elder QB, their QB... -

The exchange with Ramsey, the coach, and HHS fans took place right after Abner was helped off the field. He did in fact turn to the HHS stands after opting to run a play versus taking a knee and commented to the effect " I could have called a time out" ... I suppose meaning he could have run one more play. Not sure what that would have proven but I did think his reaction to the HHS fans was completely unwarranted and poor. The game was decided, Abner suffered an extremely painful and possibly season ending injury, and the coach decides to run a play versus taking a knee. Very weak indeed.. On a positive note HHS did not quit as one would expect they wouldn't. While all the HHS detractors on BGP will take pleasure in the HHS loss and "go on" about where HHS will be ranked or how deep they will go in the playoffs I will close with this: I would not want to be HHS's opponent next or any week thereafter, this team does not give up! The old adage of " be careful for what you ask for" certainly applies. I truly hope Abner, Watson and a few others can recover and complete their senior season.. -
Kentucky Class 4A Football Rankings for 10-20

The margin of victory over an inferior opponent, running clock notwithstanding, should not be any indication of team strength. HHS has played substitutes in games that are clearly decided without regard for the running clock. While the team is very dependent upon the success of Hoge, they certainly see the need to play Hergot as the number 2 QB and likely number 1 next year. They have also had a few injuries to key personnel that has forced substitution in many of the games. Lastly and possibly most important I'm not sure the coaching staff of 2014, particularly the head coach, feel compelled to run up the score or pile on once the game is well in hand. -

HHS is an excellent team but not without a few concerns. To say the are not as dominant as seasons past is relative. The schedule is different, the head coach is different, key personnel are different yet the have just one loss to a very fine Christopher Columbus team. I also believe the outcome of the Elder game doesn't stamp the team with the label of "dominant" or "great" or "overrated". I find it very interesting reading posts about HHS particularly when comparing or contrasting to larger schools. HHS does more with less male enrollment then schools of 3 or 4 times the numbers. My concluding point is HHS has an extremely high bar by which it is measured, whether they are state champion or bow out sooner isn't the only measure of their success. -

Who is #1 in NKY: Simon Kenton or Highlands?
WarningTrackPower replied to theguru's topic in KY Football (High School)
I've read most of the posts and feel compelled to suggest the following: SK is having a very fine season as is HHS. I attended the HHS game versus Christopher Columbus and can say with 100% certainty that was an excellent team. I don't believe the SK fans and advocates will recant their opinions regardless of the HHS posts. History suggests HHS is the more successful program, head to head, within their division and at the state level. Lastly I know human nature is such that if your team/program is not recognized as the pinnacle program you chose to debate your position while stats and data indicate otherwise. Dixie versus SK should be a good game and the outcome might possibly quiet a few voices!
