  1. He seems to always have a tough schedule to get his team ready for the post season even if it means taking a few Ls. SK also played in a Nike pre-season invitation a few weeks ago against some of the better teams in the Cincinnati area.
  2. Simon Kenton has a scrimmage this Saturday at SK vs defending state champs West Jessamine. JV starts at 530 V should kick off around 7. Should be a great early test for SK and good game between two of the better programs in the state over the last 3-4 years.
  3. I coach in a closed district in Cincinnati meaning you have to live in the district to go to that school, If a player moves in to the district they will be eligible to play the whole season, it is one of many exceptions to the transfer rule in Ohio. OHSAA member schools voted on this change in a lopsided approval. The thought is that it will cut down on Senior transfers chasing a ring since they will miss out on the post season. This would apply to any sport that the kid played the past year.
  4. USA Soccer came out with rules about two-three years ago that no heading is allowed in practice and games at the 10U and under ages, and no heading allowed in games at the 12U ages. At 12U you can practice headers for no more then 5 minutes a practice. All youth soccer leagues must follow these rules.
  5. I think that it would be a great honor for a player that meant a lot to the program to have their jersey retired, just a small way the school can show their appreciation to the former student. However with the limited number of legal numbers I would have to agree with GrantNKY, put up the jersey but still allow others to wear the number. Doesn't Michigan University Football do something where they retired a jersey ever year but a player gets picked to wear that jersey? Kinda a cool honor for both current and past players.
  6. Saw this on thread on different site about a team in Cincinnati, that has 4-6 transfers that moved in to the district, there is no open enrollment at this school, this year due to the new high school coach having a reputation of being a good coach and a former high level D1 player. My question is would you having a child in the district, a district foe/regional foe, rival, or community member have an issue with this? My take is so long as the families move and all state rules are followed in regards to when they are able to play who cares. Yeah it may stink that your team is not top dog anymore but besides that what is the harm. If those families feel that the coach gives their son/daughter the best chance to grow as a player/person or the best chance to get college payed for who cares, so long as all rules are followed.
  7. OHSAA in girls soccer has three classes, they do not have districts, regional ect. like KY does. They play for a conference championship in the regular season that is a mix of all three class. Once the regular season is over the post season is just against your class. All the coaches of a class for a sectional which is like districts and regional combined get together and rank each team in their sectional. Once the rankings are done the 1 seed gets to pick what line they are on, or pass, this goes on till all teams have picked or are slotted in to lines on the bracket. Definitely different then KY but the coaches I know seem to like it.
  8. Understood, thanks for the input and I hope next year I can make a few more games so that I can post some first had things about them not just scores I see on KHSAA.
  9. Just wondering why it seems SK Girls Soccer is not getting any attention this year on the page. They just won their 3rd straight regional title, made the final 4 last year, lost a KY player of the year last year, and have one of the best defenses in the state gave up 12 goals all year. It seems that they play a difficult schedule year after year to make up for not being in the "NKY" region or a difficult district. They even traveled to go play top 20 teams in the country and held their own. Just seems like they are not getting the attention deserved just because they don't play in the 9th. Good luck to the girls in their first round game.
  10. I will second what groinpull said about the PK not sure what the call could have been. Keeper was coming out to play a ball, Ryle player was backing up and jumped backed to try and play the ball. Ryle player was the one who caused the contact in my option. With that being said here is my take on the game, pretty evenly matched the score line should have been 1-0 Ryle. My take was that neither team really out possessed or dominated the game. I felt Ryle did create more chances but CCH did have a few good looks. If CCH cant start to find the back of the net i don't think their defense can hold strong offensive teams to just one goal. This was my first game of season and out side of a very questionable PK call I thought it was a good game and either one of these teams could make it out of the 9th.
  11. Just wondering if this is the first NKY player to be drafted or even signed by a pro team?
  12. Does anyone know if either school or the KHSAA is going to be steaming the game live?
  13. Was the GK playing in goal at the time the PK was taken or was he in in the field? Would it have made Beechwood feel any better if say Morgan took the PK and scored 5 on them in one game or the coach let Hegerty take it to get the hat trick. If you don't want someone to take a PK then don't commit the foul.
  14. SK - Cooper Cooper 1-2 Holmes-Latin Holmes 3-0 BB - Ryle 1-2 St. H - CCH 1-2
