The main issue at Jtown starts with the coach. This Jtown team lacks toughness and plays with no fight or emotion. Coach Morrow's bully and threat tactics do not seem to motivate this team. He yells, screams and uses all the four letter words and they seem to just shut down on him. Some kids respond to this brand of coaching and some just lay down. Morrow may need to temper his language and his emotions to get this group of kids to play with more emotion..

Jtown appears to be falling apart at the wrong time. The Chargers lack leadership and Morrow is losing control of this team. Senior point guard Richard Kennedy sat on the bench for most of the second half after an altercation with Morrow. Morrow"s bully tactics are falling on deaf ears with this team. Congrats to Manual on another nice win. The 7th region tourney will be CRAZY!

Grades are surely not the issue here as Cosby has been fully qualified for a while now. Stability may be an issue, but 2 years at a place like Northfield Mount Hermon will change his life forever. Whatever the reason is, he will be getting a serious education for the next two years and major exposure on the basketball court. I looked at their website and they have about 10 alumni playing at Ivy League schools and about 25 more at other D-1 schools. My boy Jaron Brown from Bryan Station went up there to one of those schools and it catapulted him to a great career in the Big East at Pitt. The tuition at those prep schools is more than most major universities. It's a bold move, but seems to be a good step for the young man's future.

By going the prep school route, it gives kids the chance to take a 5th year as a post graduate and take an extra year of college prep courses. A lot of non-athletes take the post grad year to help them gain acceptance to the Ivy Leauge or other really selective schools. A lot of athletes take the "PG" year to prepare them for the academic and athletic rigors of D-1. It's a pretty common thing on the East Coast and in other parts of the country. It really is a good deal if the family can afford it or get some sort of financial aid/scholarship. Most of the East Coast prep schools cost about $45,000-$50,000 a year.

Crimsonfan, you could be right, if Jenkins plays the game could have gone the other way. But remember JTown is still playing without their head coach and their best inside scorer in Tim Jackson. Also, the #1 player in the 7th region has only had 1 practice. When Morrow and Jackson come back and the team chemistry improves JTown will hit its stride and will repeat as 7th region champs. Good game for the Crimsons though, they played extremely hard.

"Refs were not the problem in this one. Lex Cath lost their composure (including the coach) and forgot to play basketball in the 3rd and 4th qtr. I see Lex Cath as a middle of the road team, which means Jtown is probably a little above middle of the road." Please remember, Jtown was playing without 2 starters in PF Tim Jackson and SG Aaron Cosby. Plus, Coach Morrow is out until next week. Jtown is playing pretty well now but will really start to go to another level once all the pieces are in place.

I am not sure either if he should be #1 at this point or not. I am not quite the expert as some other posters are. However, Aaron is a top 5 player by every major scouting service and is ranked #1 in several of the recent rankings. Rankings are simply based on opinion and they all differ greatly. RANKINGS AND SCHOLARSHIPS ARE EARNED ON THE COURT, NOT ON THE MESSAGEBOARDS! Aaron has a number of high major and mid major scholarship offers and is improving more and more everyday. Honestly, I don't think it matters much about the rankings or the messageboard "expert" analysis. Aaron will be one of at least 10 2010 kids in KY that will play D-1 ball. Trust me, after this season, it will be obvious who is "worthy" and who isn't.

Griffith35, I must not be quite the expert that you seem to be in regards to Aaron Cosby's skill level on the basketball court. I will leave that up to the guys who get paid the big bucks to evaluate talent. There must be something you are missing. You must not be aware, but Aaron also has a number of schools STILL recruiting as DB/WR in football and he did not even play this year. So your comments questioning his athletic ability are way off base. I don't know what your agenda is, but I will leave the recruiting up to the guys that get paid to do it.

Griffith35, There are at least 15 D-1 coaches and several scouting services that disagree with you about Cosby.

He is playing summer league games for J-town, which is within the rules. He will be on the court for practice and games on the "anniversary date of departure from Manual" which is some time in December. This is the ruling from KHSAA.
