  1. Thats what I have heard and others are talking about it also. Jones has basically had the best team, other than Lincoln of course, in the region and cant get out of his district.

What do you mean he is in the middle of the politics there?

I mean he missed his calling. He would have been a millionair if he would have went into politics instead of education. He manipulates the site-base councils at different schools and has at least 2 people running for school board member this term so he can manipulate the board office as well. Hey, I am not knocking him I think everyone should look after themselves to the best of their ability and all he is doing is working for job security. It would take major changes in administration for Jones to lose his job.IMHO!

  2. Yes, I have heard The Green Dragons this year has some hitters (#54,#13,#83 and#65) on their squad and are very big up front-"Just Young". So this one is a toss up. But I'll take Harlan in close one at home.

Way to go GhostRider I am so glad that people are willing to support their teams and most of all the young men that work hard every week. The least everyone in the community can do is support them if for no other reason than they put the time in for their school and community. I can say after what McCreary's boys did this past Friday they are capable of just about anything. Good luck to both teams and Go Raiders!:ylsuper:

  3. Week six! What does everyone think about this game. I know Harlan in down this year but they have always been very aggressive and a hard hitting team. I think McCreary will have way to many athletes for them this year but I also know the Green Dragons will make their presence known by hitting Mccreary on every down. Good luck to both teams!

  4. BEREA — It only took 12 minutes for the Raiders to snatch Madison Southern’s first victory of the year away.

McCreary Central compiled a 30-point comeback in the fourth quarter, which culminated with a 33-yard touchdown catch by junior wide receiver Dustin Stephens with 35 seconds left. Junior halfback Zack Roark ran the ball into the end zone for a two-point conversion to give the Raiders a 36-35 lead that would ultimately prove to be the final score.

Has there ever been more 4th quarter points scored in a comeback win? Just curious if this could be a state record!

  5. Bleed Blue, you sure are showing a lot of enthusiasm over this particular win.

IF the Yellowjackets did not dominate this game, it would be big news.

They took care of business, as they should, against Jenkins. 7 sacks makes for a good stat, but I think the record is still a few more. Somewhere in this state, some powerhouse has played a Thomas Walker type team and a prospective Div. 1 defensive player has had to have some kind of otherworldly sack count.

Jenkins is overmatched in this game and a few others on their schedule.

Good win for the Jackets and the young guys got in.

Is Jenkins still on the schedule next year?

    Good question!:thumb:

  6. From what I understand, McCreary scored 24 points in the last seven minutes.

    Is this true?

I know they scored 30 points in the last 12 min. So it was probably somewhere around 24 in the last 7 or 8 min. It was a good win for the Raiders but more than that they stuck together as a team and never gave up. If they feed off of this win and what they had to do in order to win they will just keep getting better!:ylsuper:

  7. I am not sure of the numbers but plan on getting in touch with the coaching staff this weekend to find out. I do know that Watts threw 5 TD passes and probably had over 100 yards rushing Zack Roarak had over 100 yards on the ground as well. Brown had one run for 93 yards right after 1 of MC's 9 turnovers. McCreary faced some adversity as they had double the penalty yards compared to Madison So. but they just kept working as a team. With 1:02 on the clock they recovered a R.Brown fumble somewhere around Madison Southerns 20 and scored with 38 seconds on the clock they added the 2 point conversion for the win.

McCreary Coaches and fans were not happy with how the game was officiated and they were even less happy with all of the turnovers 9 total and 5 in scoring position but they didn't implode as they have in the past. They patted each other on the back and just said lets get it back and it paid off. The Raiders finally played as a team and Mr. Watts showed himself as a leader for the first tme. He was hit out of bonds 3 time in the 1st half and just jumped up and went back to the huddle. In the past he would have lost his head and because he didn't I am sure this team stuck together and wound up victorious. This was an ungly game with the officiating and the turnovers, it could have easily been 36 -7 in the Raiders favor at the half. Instead it was 28-6. 5 times the Raiders were in scoring position and turned the ball over. Madison So. also faught hard and took advatage of the calls and the turnovers and that is what good teams do. R. brown has the quickest 1st step than anyone I have seen. It was a pleasure to watch Watts, Brown, Roark and #3(who is also very quick) play, it was a great, no, it was an instant classic. Gongrats Raider this was the best game I have watched in years!:ylsuper:

  8. The following that the parents are telling others in the region about Jones is a lynch mob. Im telling you if he dont get it done this year, word is basketball in McCreary will have two new coaches next year.

:lol:That has to be the best and funniest post I have read to date!

As far as Jones getting fired for any reason, I would have to see it to believe it. McCreary is a very very political place and Jones is right in the middle of the mix so to speak!:scared:

  9. This is my last question before we get this thread back on topic with 12th Region Basketball...

Was the assistant Jamie Payne? I know it couldn't be J. Stephens.

It was either Payne or Jones I am not sure and Gay wouldn't go into details only to say that at this point none of the current assistants want the head coaching position.

  10. All I can say is that I have seen Knox Central up close and they are strong, quick and very physical. Rock on the other hand I have not seen but they have a tradition of being strong, quick and physical. I will have to give this game to Knox by 12.

I agree this game should be a "slobber-knocker" because these two teams are both very physical. I also think KC will come out on top and I aoriginally said it would be by 21 pts but it may be closer.

  11. Campbellsville is off to a 1-3 start with that brutal schedule (#2 in class A LCA - 4-0, Taylor Co - 3-1, # 4 in class AA Green Co. - 4-0 ) with a combined record of 11-1. Clinton Co. is better, but C-Ville is tested. Campbellsville is ready to be 2-0 in district play. But, they must come to play. Give me your thoughts.........

Campbellsville was very good last year and i would be very surprised if they weren't much better this year with the loss of only 2 players. Clinton Co. has improved a great deal but they couldn't beat last years Eagles team at this point. My guess is Campbellsville by 35 at the half and the younger kids get to play in the second half. Good luck to both teams and I hope it is an injury free game.

Now, I better get back to work before my boss catches me just sitting here at my computer!:ylsuper:

  12. I wonder what Spencer Greer could do behind MS or Mc line?

That's an interesting thought.................Watts handing to Greer or maybe he faked it................and then again maybe he pulled it out and threw it to R. brown down the far side. Man, now I will never get my work finished tonight because I will have this Watts, Greer and Brown thing dancing around in my head (thanks tater). Hope my boss dosen't decide to stop by and check on me!:sssh:

  13. I never said he would be fired, Bronco.

He contemplated retirement last season, and may stay until '09 for Watts.

Yes he did, a friend of mine who is an assistant coach was going to take the head job but decided against it so Coach Gay decided to stay on for 2 more years which puts him through the 09 season. At this point all of the assistant coaches say they don't have a desire to be the head man so we will just have to wait and see what the 2010 season brings to the Raiders!

  14. Wow!

McCreary has took their schedule to another level. Possibly the best in the region.

    New teams:

    Woodford County

    Perry County Central

    Anderson County

    Montgomery County

Plus, Jaguar Classic, 5th/3rd Classic, and Laurel County Hoopfest.

That is stepping it up, big time. Aaron Watts and company will finally get some recognition and exposure.

Wow, you found this out pretty quick: you must have direct ties to Coach Jones. I heard he had a big following in MC. Sort of like rockstars have roadies!:ylsuper:

  15. That's obvious and has been that way forever.

Gay won't be there next year and McCreary will hire in the system, which won't turn anything up. They need to spend some money and get a coach. They have the players to be successful.

Just talked with Gay a little bit ago and he said that he will be the head coach next year. So, I don't know where you are getting your info but you are only suppose to post facts on here. So, if I am posting facts and you are posting facts that means someone is telling you that he will be fired! If not stop posting that unless you add that it is your opinion because what I am posting is straight from the horses mouth!:ylsuper:

  16. Watts is a GREAT player...but his career will have this sub-story to it...he was great....BUT. He can not beat you on his own. This young man has no supporting cast; He can not beat anyone that is worth their salt on his own. That is why a 4A school has little/no chance to beat Williamsburg...one of the smaller 1A's in the state. I am glad to see this game coming off the schedule because there are many cheap shots taken out on the field...this risks injury to young men, and there is no place for that in high school sports. McCreary has bigger fish to fry than Williamsburg...try Knox Central, Bell, and Rock for starters!!!

As for this game I hope no one gets hurt and the younger guys get to play a half of football...anything short of this is a failure to reach the goals at WHS.

McCreary had a very good chance both of the last two years to win the ball game. In the 2007 game MC scored one more TD than WB did but failed to convert to many times and that costed them. I truely wish people new what they were talking about before they posted something. Plus, all I seen in both of these games was hard hitting football and if you are trying to say MC played dirty football then you were at a totally diferent game than I was at. Both of these teams played hard and showed good sports, amship after the game. In 07 MC had one and I repeat one player who threw a temper-tantrum and he never played another down the rest of the year which ended his HS football career because he was a senior. The MC coaching staff will not put up with that stuuf. So, you are dead wrong about any cheap-shots in the game and it sounds like you are just trying to find excuses as to why W-burg dropped MC off the schedule!:ylsuper:

  17. I have been reading several posts about the "Harlan Green Dragons". As I understand it, the Dragons have had some players to quit, some who have transferred to Harlan County and have a very small senior class. This alone is enough to disrupt any team. To say that the remaining young men at HHS might go winless is very unfair to the ones out there who give every thing they have in them to get a win. Every single one of those guys are winners already because they choose to stay and gut it out and not quit. I am proud of those guys on Green Dragon football team. It's nice to know the Green Dragon coaches are showing their young men how to over come adversity no matter what the odds are and that they can and will win no matter how small their school is or how many transfers they have had or how small they are in numbers. They will win because there is no quit in a handful of guys who has decided that no matter what the odds are, I am staying, I will work hard and we will win! So my hat's off to you, young men of HHS! :thumb:

:thumb: Great post GhostRider! You are 100% correct when you say those kids are already winners and I think people of every community should realize that about the kids who play any sport for their school/communuty because these are the kids putting in the time and being constructive with their lives. So, I to applaude those young men of the Green Dragon football team and say hold your heads up high and keep working hard. You are already winners and you will be better young men for your efforts!:ylsuper:

  18. Gay and both basketball coaches are the word if things dont turn around. Thats the talk in the 12th region thats coming out of McCreary County.

Look at my earlier post and you will see that Gay has been improving the program so I can't see where anyone would be doing anything but praising his efforts thus far. I don't know anything about the B-ball stuff, haven't heard a thing but I think Coach Jones was coach of the year 2 years running so it would be kinda hard to get rid of him as well. IMHO!

  19. Yes, actually I do Bronco. I have spoken to Gay many times and he considered retiring last year and not coaching this season. You're not the only one around here with McCreary ties.

McCreary won't fire Gay, and I never said they would. However, they have fired coaches before. Including the coach prior to Gay.

Gay will most likely retire after this season.

You need to get your facts straight, he was not fired as a coach he was let go as a teacher because of cut backs and things. He actually could have continued coaching but who in their right mind would do that. The coach you were refering to was Jack Arthur and he was a good coach and even a better person but he didn't get fired coaching.

  20. Southern's offense tries to get others involved, McCreary every thing goes through Watts. If the entire offense went through Rico then you all would be saying he was better.

McCreary has had several players score for them this year and in the Leslie Co game Watts didn't score at all. But as far as everything going through Watts..............he is the QB so everything has to go through him!:ylsuper:

  21. Yes, actually I do Bronco. I have spoken to Gay many times and he considered retiring last year and not coaching this season. You're not the only one around here with McCreary ties.

Well, Coach Gay told me personally yesterday that he plans on coaching through the 09 season before retiring. As far as last season he said he was going to let one of his assistance take over the program and the assistant did not want to so he kept the position but told the admin. that it would only be for two more years putting him there through the 09 season. I asked him if any of his assistance would take over after the 09 season and he said no they all plan to get out after the 09 season as well. Anyway, this is what I have been told.
