  1. McCreary is going to have to be both ready and physical to have any chance in this game. They had chances last year and couldn't finish off the Jackets. This game rises and falls completely with Watts. As goes Watts, as goes McCreary Central. Williamsburg has to be the favorite right now in this game.

I agree that W-burg is definately the favorite and that Watts is the key for MC as Moses is for W-burg. But, as W-burg has a very good surrounding cast so does MC. A back-up QB threw a TD pass Friday night for example. Also, a sophmore LB earned the most tackles for MC and a sophmore DB had 3 int's for MC. Their Jr. tailback rushed for around 100 yards while Watts had around 180. Thje back up TB had 5 carries for around 45 yards. MC played around 25 players before they went to the back-ups so they have confidence in Watt's surrounding cast. But I will agree that Watts is as vital to MC as any teams best athlete is to their team. Good luck to both teams! Go Raiders!

  2. I figured I would go a head and start this to give everyone a chance to tell the BGP world how bad W-burg is going to pound MC just like everyone did last year. I'm not going to make a prediction on this one. I just hope that the game is as exciting as last years. Last years game could have gone either way right up until the end and it was so much fun to watch. I just hope these two teams can repeat it again this year (only I hope MC can pull it out this year). I know the seniors from MC really want a win because 3 of W-burg players played for MC up through 8th grade and then transfered to W-burg (Tyler Rollins, Garrett Phillips and Jordan Hughett). So the seniors at MC want to give there former class mates a loss for an early graduation present. Either way it should be a good game and both teams have very classy programs so it should be a great night of football. Good luck to both but I will be pulling for my Raiders.

  3. I looked at this score and was shocked to see Clinton with 26. They have to be improving over what they had last year.

McCreary came down to 3rd stringers (and some 4th stringers) with over 8 min. left in the game. Clinton Co. had 12 pts and one of their scores was a MC fumble in the endzone recovered by Clinton Co. They scored on the youngsters somewhere around the 6 min. mark and then recovered an onside kick which bounced of a kid who was sporting a cast wrapped in foam. They scored on the youngsters again around the 3 min mark to make it 26. After that MC put the starting "O" in to make sure they could run the clock out. As I said earlier, MC played somewhere around 40 players in this game. The head coach told the players (after the game) that Clinton Co. having 26 pts was his fault for coming down so early. MC had ove 300 yards rushing and somewhere around 100 yards passing (total yards between 450 and 500) and that was with 5 turnovers. There offense looked good most of the night. There "D" played well but still needs some work, they just didn't seem to be super aggressive. I am sure the coaches will be working on this while getting ready for W-burg. Congradulations to the Raiders on the win!

  4. Much closer than I thought it would be.

It wasn't nearly that close. MC played around 40 players tonight. They dressed 56. I will say this however, Clinton Co. is a much improved team this year my hats are off to their coach he has done a good job. They also played with more class this year. I wish them luck with the rest of their season.

  5. How did Mccreary do last year with the single A teams?

    MC lost last year to:

    Bell

    Rockcastle

    Knox Central

    W-Burg

    Campbellsville

    Leslie Co.

    Onieda TN

    MC defeated:

    Madison Southern

    Clinton Co

    Pineville

The W-burg, Leslie Co., Campbellsville and Knox games were close ballgames. Now before I get hammered over saying the Knox game was close when the score was 32-6, I was there and with 10 min left in the game MC had the ball and only trailed 12-6 before they blew-up and let Knox score 3 times in 4 min. So, it was a close game hard faught game until late in the 4th quarter. If MC keeps their head they would have been in position to give themselves a chance and that's all you can hope for when playing the teams in that district. MC is very much improved, they have 52 players out and most of them have been playing since they were in 3rd grade (and they all have play station 3's with Madden 97-08) so they have some-kind of experience. I have seen good teams have bad seasons and bad teams have good seasons all I know is these kids have and are working hard and I wish them the best. I hope they have their 1st winning season ever and make a repeat trip to the playoffs!

  6. McCreary should win all of their non district games as they are all 1A teams with the exception of a lone 2A team. McCreary is a 4A team and should not have any problems at all.

Would you still say that if MC had LCA, Beechwood, Hazard and Raceland on their schedule along with maybe Danville? I realize that MC dosen't have a strong non-district schedule with the exceptions of W-burg and Campbellsville who are very tough 1-A programs. However, I do know that next years non-district schedule will be a little tougher and they still play in the toughest district in 4-A. If MC keeps improving (and they should) their schedule will get tougher and tougher because already teams like W-burg are refusing to schedule them, that's right W-burg along with others refused to schedule McCreary Co for the 2009-10 season. That is a fact in itself that tells me the Raiders are on an upward spiral, I just hope they keep heading in that direction!

  7. The KHSAA does not care what type of schools are involved. The rules are the same regardless.

I don't agree with this, I think the KHSAA makes differences in schools. Last year we had a student athlete move ( the family physically moved) to Johnson co and their child was ruled ineligable for a year. This year we had a student athlete who will be a junior move to Wayne co but the parents still live in our county in the same house and that student athlete has already been declared eligable. So you tell me the KHSAA follows the ruules and guidlines equally!

  8. Clinton County has everyone returning, a new coach and a new offensive game plan. They won agaist Logan County, Edmonson County, and a Tennessee team in preseason. They lost pretty badly to Glasgow. Clinton could win this game, especially if Central is not ready to play.

I have to agree that anyone can win on any given Friday, that is why they play the game. However, IMO Clinton Co would have to play way over their head and a completely perfect game while MC fell into some sort of coma for Clnton Co to come out on top of this one. But like I said, that is why they play the games every Friday night. I see upsets every week I don't think this game will be one of them and I know there is a lot of MC fans hoping it's not an upset. MC is the real deal this year and to tell you the truth they will be twice as good next year if things keep heading in the same direction. Should win all the games they are expected to win this year, win some games they are not expected to win and should scare some people that aren't expecting to even be in a game! Of course this is just one parents opinion!:sssh:

  9. McCreary will win this one fairly easy, they could get off to a fast start. From looking at their schedule it seems back heavy so the key will be to win as many games early as they can and try and steal a win or two late in their season with Williamsburg and Knox being the tougher ones in the first 5 and Pineville being the only one they will be favored to win in their last 5 games.

Just Pineville? What about Harlan Co? The Dragons are down right now so I would have to say MC would be favored in that one as well. I am not saying it is a definate win because there is no such thing in my opinion but MC has to be favored!

  10. Who's Bronco? Leslie?

How are they, numbers wise and team wise, compared to last year.

I cannot find out much about them at all. (Other than Randen Collett, though! :) )

We should be somewhere around 85% healthy for this week and should look more like our old selves than last week. (I still don't see a 21 point loss, though.)

I was talking about Lynn Camp's "O" and "D". From what I have been told from my friends who are Leslie Co faithfulls is that this will be the worst year ever. Their numbers are down and they don't have the quality athletes as they have had in the past, but again this is just what they are saying!

  11. Last year MC scored 2 times in the 1st 4 min. and then didn't score again until right before half-time and never scored in the 2nd half. The boys started arguing with each other and complaining about the officials. They totally imploded and forgot all about playing football. This same kind of behavior costed them againt W-burg and Leslie as well and they had about 4 min. of it in the Knox game but it seemed to get better as the season went on. However, that was last year and from what I can see this years group of seniors are much better leaders and the team doesn't seem to have any internal problems what-so-ever, I think they have their act together. I am hoping they come to play and domminate this game to show everyone they are for real. A close score would only mean more of what we saw last year and I believe this team is the best MC has ever put on the gridiron. I think MC wins big!

  12. I think that everything had blown over by the end of it. They even scrimmaged more after the Knott County portion. It was ugly, but it was not the end of the world. Everything worked out, I think.

As far as McCreary and Clinton, U-G-L-Y game coming up. Watts is way more than a handful and he has a good supporting team with him. They moved the ball really well over here. D was not too shabby either.

Here's hoping that all is well and LC/McCreary start their series again soon!!!

I agree, the entire thing was over when it was over. Both LC and MC are spirited teams and this is not the first altercation in their history. It is nothing personal just the heat of the moment kind of thing. I am sure the series will take off again next year and I am sure they will have some very good exciting games! Good luck to all friday!

  13. Who all do you guys have on your schedule this year, other than distict games bronco99?

    Clinton Co

    W-burg

    Leslie Co

    Knox Co (district game)

    Madison So (district game)

    Harlan Co (green Dragons)

    Rockcastle Co (district game)

    Pineville

    Bell Co (district game)

    Campbellsville

Next year McCreary picks up Wayne Co, Lynn Camp and Scott Co Tn.

  14. I don't think the first team backfield played any against Williamsburg and all the starters were out very early.

I thought Williamsburg looked better than Lynn Camp. The Wildcats struggled early against Pineville's passing game, and Williamsburg's is better.

I was told by a coach from Halan Co that only Freshmen and JV players played against W-burg. That would probably make a big difference in how good W-burg looked. IMO!

  15. I dont think anyone said Wayne dominated Danville or Corbin, just that they did well and held their own. I was there and posted on it. I was also there last night and posted exactly what I saw. McCreary has a great player in Watts, they just need to really work on the offensive line. Ask Watts, I think he will agree with me.

I will say this for McCrearys coach, he is a very confident guy.

I just finished watching a tape of the game. A friend of mine tapes the games for the team and he ran me a copy. In the first offensive series Mccreary picked up enough yards for a first down onm the 2nd play throwing a slant pass. In the 1st 10 plays 7 were for positive yards. On wayne Co 1st series MC stoped the first 2 plays at the line and on the 3rd play they had a short gain. Game situation 3 and out for WC! I did see that Wayne Co had a very quick "D" line that gave MC fits as I think they will do everyone they play but they didn't dominate in what I watched. Out of the 20 offensive plays both teams ran, Wayne Co scored 2 times and MC did not score but had positive yards about 75% of the time. They still need to work on their passing game out of the gun, this is new to them and they had several incomplete passes but they had possitive yards on all of their run plays. That is not counting the scrambles by Watt's which were pass plays that ended up run plays. When the teams went to game situation both teams had 2 possession and both teams scored 1 time each with MC the only one converting the extra point. So you could say that MC won the game situation portion of the scrimmage!Oh, I have talked to Watts and he said this is the best line he has ever seen at MC and that there was a few times he should have stepped up in the pocket instead of running outside. That is the difference in this team this year, they don't blame each other, they just work on their weaknesses and try to get better. And I talked with a friend of mine from Wayne Co at work today who has talked with some of the coaches at WC and they said they were impressed with MC and thought it would be a hard fought game if the two played regular season. Anyway, everyone see's things differently and that is what makes the world go around. I know Coach Thompson and have known him since he was a player at WC, he is a great guy and has done a fantastic job with the WC program. I have nothing but respect for him and his coaching staff and I hope they have a great season. As for MC opening up with Clinton Co, My guess is that Watt's and company won't see to much of the second half but I am just a spectator with an opinion and those things will be left up to the coaches! Like everyone else, I can't wait until Friday. Good luck to everyone (except Clinton Co.) lol.

  16. Wayne scored at will. Waynes line was on Watts almost every time before he could move. Not even close. McCreary has some work to do on their line or Watts is going to have a long year. McCreary had two good runs at the end, other than those two, they had negative yards for the night.

I talked with a good friend of mine who was at the game and he told me that McCreary's "D' looked pretty good that Wayne had a hard time running the ball the first set of 10 plays. He agreed that Wayne's front line on defense was very quick and MC O-line had a hard time keeping up. He told me that MC had a few good runs throughout but had a very very hard time throwing the ball. He said during the 2 sets of 10 plays on "O" and "D" Wayne scored 2 times and MC did not score. Then the JV played a couple of 10 and 10 series and then the varsity squads played using the chains and both teams scored 1 time each during this session. According to that account Wayne Co scored 3 times and McCreary scored 1 time over the course of the scrimmage, I wouldn't exactly call that a blow-out or even say that Wayne scored at will. Anyway, I wasn't there and this is what I was told by a good friend who knows football so I am confident he gave me an accurate account of the scrimmage. I am hoping to watch a tape of the game when I get back from work today. Good luck to Wayne and McCreary next week.
