  1. Boss, what is your beef with the officials?

Go like anything else I look for fairness, and for the official to be in the right position, I have heard so many times its not my call, if they see it they should call it. If you are sitting court level then you obviously have the worst seats.

If you go to the state tourney then you should know of the reputation the 16th region officials have. If you have read all my posts then you should know I have bragged on a couple of officials, an I never curse at an official I know they have a tough job,but I also know you can look at them and see when they are intimadated.

  2. It was one of the best officiated games I've seen all year. I really don't know where you all are coming from with this one. The high school game has gotten to rough over the past several years, they need to call more hand checking but these three are consistent they call the same every game and they are 3 of the best in our region.

It was the best officiated if you were the small, under-dog, Sparks,Keeton and Barker were molested underneath and no calls.

  3. I didn't understand the "T" on Coach Floyd as everyone knows "The Boss" is an avid lip reader an all coach told the referee was the last time he was at his establishment his coffee was cold and he would like a store voucher, he never ask for his money back or anything and Tim gave him a technical, so coach took his coat off and said " Tim it was so cold I had to wear a jacket to drink it " man some people are so sensitive when it comes to java.

  4. The deciding factor will be if Lewis Co. is hitting there three's. If they are knocking down everything like I've seen them do LIONS win. Period!

12-17 against 17-10, If I was a betting man an I'm not I would venture to say it will be like the 1st meeting, Rams let the Lions stay close for a quarter or so and superior depth and size wins out. Lewis can't stop 6'5,6'5,6'3 and 6'2 IMO game over in the 3rd. I change my predicted score:thumb:

    Raceland 70

    Lewis 45

The Boss is ready for "The Rising", and Lewis will be "Blinded by the Light". The Boss has spoken" So let it be written, So let it be done"

  5. Would have been nice to see him in green black and gold, but it always seems like we can't get transfers eligable. I have never understood how we lose so many kids to Raceland and other schools just for sports reasons and they seem to be eligable right away, but when we get transfers it is always red tape after red tape. Maybe they no something in Ramland that the Muskies dont.

I know you are not saying Raceland does anything against the rules. If you are I would like to hear about it. It is not for just sports reasons check your academics out compared to Raceland or Russell.

  6. That's such a shallow statement that I shouldn't even respond, but I will respond with this - it is SOOOOOO much more than that. Probably the greatest decision I ever made was rush SAE at Morehead State. I'm sure other Greeks will agree with me.:thumb:

Good bunch of guys in the mid-late80's, TKE's & SAE's got along fine at Morehead except for you guys being rich an all. ;)

  7. I'm saying COY for staying in Vanceburg and not migrating south on the AA to rt. 23. Smart move. And FWIW, your Ramblers better strap it up against those 12-17 Lions. They've been on a roll lately, something that has become typical out of that bunch at this time of the year. I'll have to give credit to Hampton for that I suppose.;)

You are absolutely correct on both points. I hope he remembers that this spring when the job re-opens.

  8. I would also have to go with Greg Logan as the best coach in the region. He knows the game more than anybody I know and is just a great all around coach. He also has Steve Logan who helps with pitching and at first. Steve knows alot about pitching and can make some pitchers out of the kids at Greenup.

Randy Vanderhoof is the only one in the KHSAA Baseball Hall of Fame. I rest my case.Your move.:thumb::ylsuper:

  9. Floyd, is a fine coach, but what has he done to be the #1 coach in the region??? Wait a few years and then add him to the list.

The best coaches in the region are.......

    1. Roger Zornes- Resume speaks for itself....

    2. Brandon Baker- year in, year out East puts out a pretty good team. Great game planner, always has disciplined teams.

    3. Joe Hampton- consistently does more with less than any other coach in the region.

4A. Rex Cooksey- I don't know why, he just seems like a great coach to me.

4B. Jim Hicks- has done wonders at Bath, had Greenup looking good for a few years. His players play very hard for him.

4.B Mathew Perry- talent well has run dry of late, but his teams are still hardnosed and are always a tough out.

On a side note, I do believe Floyd is on his way to being a top notch coach in the area. I just have to see atleast a few years worth of work to put him that high on this list. We do have some excellent coaches in eastern kentucky.

Coach Floyd had only 2 starters returning from about a .500 team, and this yrs team is considered by most to be in the top 5 in the region, to me thats impressive. The point of this thread was to look back, remember how many of you picked Coach Dodd then people finally realized if you don't give your young players time they can't improve, and for the Russell fans I'm sure you are seeing the same thing this yr. 3-25 and still starting 4 Srs. who will not be able to help one bit next year, while a good bunch of Sophs. sit on the bench. Buddy was also considered a great coach with a bunch of talent returning and his team sets the record for most losses in a row by any Ashland team.:sssh:

  10. That's fair enough!! You are entitled to your opinion and I respect that. You could think that I was horrible official but I would still respect your opinion. I know how difficult this job really is and I know all the hard work and dedication that goes into becoming an official and so I tend to be a sympathizer of officials. Sure, everyone has a bad game every once in a while but that doesn't make you a bad official but unfortunately the people who saw you call that night more than likely have already formed an opinion of you as an official. I'm not saying that that is the case with you, at all. I see these officials call on a regular basis and I know what officials are at the top of the ranks. They are ranked there by area coaches who see them regularly. You may not like Joe as an official but the area coaches who have had him numerous times throughout the year ranked him at the top and that has to account for something. People who know basketball in and out ranked him at the top. That alone would make me think if I were you. Fans tend to look at officials through school colored glasses and that just isn't an honest way to form an opinion of an official. Again, I respect your opinion and just know that there are many people in the area and state who know basketball and officiating that believe that Joe is a very good official.

I see both sides so we will just have to agree to disagree Cats, it has been fun having this conversation take care.
