This isn’t “another side” to the story... You’ve got one former Brannen player, that didnt play for him at UC, speaking in defense of him...
Where are the rest?
To be honest, I do not follow college hoops like I used to. To me it did not seem like Brannen was winning as much as UC is use to winning. I could be wrong about that for sure. What was his record for his 2 seasons at UC?

Skinny is an open Brannen supporter. Of course he's not going to try to interview a UC player that actually went through these past two years. Key part you left out:
Did you think or hear that those practices got ramped up at all at UC from what you did at NKU?
"I can't speak first-hand with what happened"
From the Cumberland article with Justin Williams:
Was it strange being around some of those UC players these past couple of months, when all of this turmoil was going on in the background with Brannen and the eventual coaching change?
"To be honest, last year, some of those guys were upset with the way I was acting and what I was saying. But the more I was explaining why and they saw what was going on, the more they started realizing who Brannen really was. Then they started telling me I was right. They even started asking why I came back for my senior year in the first place if I could read him that good.
.....Now that the other players finally saw it, they realized I had been fighting for what I believed, what I thought was the truth and fighting for Bearcats basketball. Then they all saw it happen again this year.
Even with the fans. The fans couldn’t even see it. If he told the fans this, he was doing another thing. One thing people never appreciated about Cronin is that Cronin cared about the fans and made sure we went out every game and played for the fans, made sure we fought. Brannen, it was all about himself."
Cumberland never had any issues under Mick, FWIW.
"You saw what people thought about me last year when all of this was happening. It was his word versus mine. And I had been there for three years by that point. That’s what hurt me. I felt like he was talking bad about me and fans were believing that. It was wild. Why didn’t Cronin ever have any problems like that with me? Cronin never had to kick me out of practice. Never had a problem with my character. Nothing.
....I’ve been a winner. I won at Cincinnati. And that last year Brannen shows up, and suddenly my character changes, I’m a bad guy, I lose games, I don’t play some games? It really wasn’t a fun year."
And Cumberland and Brannen were like oil and water from the start. Of course Cumberland is negative on Brannen. See, that argument goes both ways. Sounds like Cumberland was the leader of the mutiny.
Honest question, If Brannen was winning at UC would this situation be taking place?

I have no idea where the truth lies in respect the this situation.
But if all of these reports are true, how and why did it take so long for Brannen to be removed? Also, where are the asst coaches, trainers, managers, media or anybody else that may have witnessed any abusive behavior? Shouldn't they be called out for not reporting it? And if they did report it, why did the AD not address it?
So we are left to believe the players that basically started a mutiny because they did not like their coaches hard-butt and my way or the highway approach. Maybe the transfer portal is to blame for making it easy too easy to transfer?
Now before all of the anti-Brannen people get their shorts in a bunch towards my comments, I think Brannen seems like a jerk of a coach that did not know how to get his players to buy into his way of doing things and the results show. Basically a bad coach and I don't blame UC for wanting him gone. But negotiate a buy out and both parties can move on.

Guess MLB is too. He just got a 7 game suspension.
How does Baez only get an undisclosed fine? Idk. Feels bogus, just like with Molina when Castellanos got suspended.
7 games seems extreme. And I agree about Molina and Baez, they should have been suspended too.

🏀 Looking for a small gym with both character and championship pedigree? Welcome to the cozy confines of "The Finn" at Covington Holy Cross.
Completed in time for the Indians run to the 1965 Boys Sweet 16 final, the gym features mid-century modern wooden beams, and all 780 seats offer great views of "George Schneider Court." 50 years later Holy Cross would hoist the 2015 Girls Sweet 16 Championship banner. I love this place; lots of great memories here.
The Rev. Thomas B. Finn Activity Center ~ In the stands and on the court, at the corner of 36th and Church Streets in Latonia.
The same George Schneider that ached at Covington Catholic?

Maybe I'm turning into the old man sitting on his front porch but I'm so tired of Amir Garrett's act. I would have posted this in a Reds vs Cubs thread, but no one started one, so I'm giving it it's own thread.
If they guy didn't try to fight the whole Pirates dugout in the past, I think he'd have long worn out his welcome in Cincy. He frustrated the heck outta me.
What was his deal yesterday? That seemed unprovoked and frankly out of line.

Right, that and knocking it down to one year to head to the league like it is in hoops.
That would also be a step to leveling the playing field.

I get that knowing what I know but my point is we need to spread the wealth and a 16 team playoff will eventually do that.
I agree. It will take some time but I think it would help.

I think 12 is a good number. 6 AQ and 6 auto bids. Keeps it from being too watered down.
Do we really want to see Bama/Clemson/OSU against the MAC or Sun Belt champ in the first round of a 16 team format?
Or it could be the AAC or WAC champ against OSU/Bama or Clemson. LOL

Yeah, they embellish the numbers in most of them.
Every gym should have an "Occupancy Certificate" posted near one of the entrances. The number is calculated by the Fire Department and a formula is used to come up with that number. In a lot of gyms there may be 2 numbers. One for use as a gym. The other for place of assembly, meaning the gym floor being used for crowds or set up for banquets. Square footage and number of exits(and square footage of exits) come into play. If the local Fire Department is doing their job there should be no fudging of numbers.

There are a variety of different construction types for domes...some of them have different "overlaps" in the way they're designed/engineered, and I think honestly some of the design-type names can even be used somewhat interchangeably. I did a little reading online about the dome down at Breathitt yesterday afternoon/last night, and it sounds like the current roof is at least the 3rd one it's had: the original, the replacement after a collapse in the 80s, and now the roof they have after the fire in 2020. The pictures I'm seeing of what they have in place right now look like what I've heard called a radial wood dome - also kind of generically called an "umbrella dome". The large radial beams appear to be wooden glulams, but they could also be wood-wrapped metal beams. Just kind of depending on the engineering of the beams, sometimes it's less expensive to go with a wooden glulam, and sometimes it's less expensive to go with metal and wrap it with a wood facing. I can't exactly tell from that black & white picture from the original construction what material the beams were when the coliseum was originally built, but looking at the current pictures I would suspect that what are currently in place are glulam beams.
Great information! Thank you.

A dome?
It could be that simple. LOL.
I figured CWB would know if there is a more technical name for the type of construction. Being a retired firefighter I spent a lot of time learning about building construction and how different types of structures react to fire load. I don't recall studying that type of structure.

Interesting roof construction. What would you call that in the construction business?
Are the beams wood? Or just covered with wood?

Surprised nobody suggested outlawing the defensive shift.
I go back and forth on it. I do wish more guys would just slap against the shift.

I thought they said during the Reds game Sunday that the Reds will not face Cueto in this series.
That is what Welsh said. Then shortly after that, maybe the next half inning he corrected himself. He actually came out said he was wrong, something the media (and weatherman) NEVER admit. He clarified by saying we would see him on Wednesday.

Fair enough. You are obviously more informed than I on this subject.
Like I said earlier, Brannen made his own bed with his approach to his team. It is best for everyone involved that he is no longer UC's coach.
