  1. I don't think anyone is disputing your Cards or saying they will be a bad team, but preseason #2 is a bit lofty in the expectation department to most due to their youth. Now at the end of the season they very well could be a #2 team or higher, but this thread is preseason. Not a knock against the Cards, just I think most are being realistic.

I agree with Pressrow in the fact that the CARDS are going to be very young this season with only three boys having some varsity experience . The CARDS lost four starters due to graduation, with Knowles being named 1st team all state and the Jones honorable mention all state. I see it as a rebuilding year but the future looks good. Where they stack up in the 10th region ,I don't know and no one else does.:dancingpa

  2. He may not get much pub outside the Maysville area, but Chris Owens of St. Pat is one of the most underrated players in the state. 24.2 points and 7.5 rebounds and shoots well everywhere (55.3 from the field, 35.4 from behind the arc).

I AGREE-- if he was in a larger school, he may be noted as one of the state's better players. He had two brothers and a sister that were all top notch high school players.:ylsuper:

  3. :

How can fans react to one loss the way they do. It seems to me after a few years of futility like

UKhas had the so called fans wouldn’t accept so much. It is not like UK

and have been a fan since birth. I am convinced that 75% of fans know nothing of basketball and never will. The things that I have read on this board and the (other one) just kills me.

    :thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:I agree 100 %

  4. With the exception of Patterson, I thought they looked about the same as last year. I thought play at times was very sloppy. I do like the coach's style of up-tempo ball . I really hate to see a few of the players try to drive through 3-4 defensive players and try to get a shot off when they don't have a shot.

  5. Interesting that C.S. attends most games and seems to enjoy himself thouroughly. He frequently tells the kids and coaches he's proud of their efforts. It's also interesting that you seem to know more about C.S.'s vision than C.S. apparently does himself.

I'm not about to defend everyone and everything that goes on at the Hill. There are definitely a bunch of humans there doing what humans do best... trying and failing and trying again. The idea that Christians are supposed to be meek little sheep and be happy with whatever happens to them could be why more people don't really want to be Chirstians... or why some of those who claim to be Christians aren't more effective.

If a Christian education does not include being the best you can be, and doing everything you do with excellence as though you are doing it for God Himself, it's not much of an education IMO... Christian or otherwise.

    Excellent comment!!!!!!!!!!!!!:ylsuper:

  7. I might get scolded for this but I do believe that Treg Setty and Jordan Gilbert will be better than Robbie Stenzel. I think Setty might already be better, except Robbie is definately more athletic than him but size, hustling, and shooting abillity all go to Setty. I've seen both play numerous times, with Setty being the most times.

You are very insensitive to the feelings of others. Pretty cold. They ask for names, not comparisons.

  8. I watched alot and he did do good and was a contributor but how does bein just a contributor make you a top ten player. Mason Co has plenty of contributors on the team and you could have a whole top ten list from this school. I guarantee you Kieth Downing, Jeremy Thompson, Jackson Tolle, Ethan King, Ryan Hamm, Terrence Breckenridge, Phil Barner, and The Freshman are better than half those players on that list but should they be on there? NO. Because they were just contributors last year and some didnt even play n varsity last year but they could've started on any other team in the region excluding Brossart and Clark.[/Q

It's a shame Mason can't have 3-4 varsity teams with all that talent.

  9. My guess is they will be motivated this year. Yes, many struggled against Scott Co. last year, one of the best high school teams in KHSAA history.

Obviously I am a Botkin fan, and Sanford will give Lex Cath another dimension. They may be calling it the "Blue Heat" before the season is over.

Isn't the blue flame hotter than the red flame;)

    The rematch should be intense.

I don't agree that Scott Co , last season , was one of the best in KHSAA history. They lucked out in the championship game . Don't quite agree with that statement. :argue:
