  1. I now live 20 miles south of Montgomery, AL.  It looked like Fred was going to be an event for us, so I battened down the hatches.  Thankfully, Fred decided to jog to the east of us and all we received were some welcome winds.

  2. It was a lot of work:  transporter for household goods; transporter for five horses;  three round trips 500 miles each way to take trailers with equipment (tractor and implements, mowers, tools, etc.).  Then one last trip with horse trailer, four dogs, three cats.   Then, getting functional on this end.   My next move is to the urn.

  3. Thanks for the kind messages!  Been packing and started hauling farm equipment to the new farm 496 miles away.  I am really going to miss Kentucky, but I'll be glad when the move is over.  The last thing will be the horses, dogs and cats on May 25.   Hopefully they all make it safely.

  4. After 24 years of making Kentucky (Lexington area) our home, we are moving to our new farm south of Montgomery, Alabama.  I have loved Kentucky, especially as I love horses...bourbon, not so much.  Grandkids have a certain gravitational pull, and our four are all in Alabama, thus we had the chance, and are taking it to move closer while they are still young.

It is hard to think of leaving the great lifestyle here behind, but I will admit Mrs. doomer is ecstatic as we will live the closest to our daughter and her family.

We leave on May 25th, and I assure you Kentucky and my friends here will always be in my heart and mind.

and PS, we always have room for visitors.

  5. Oh no.  I am so tempted.  We have three, but we lost our good old Lab at the beginning of February.  We have a farm, so there is lots of room, but I think it would be hard to get another right now although our other Lab is 12 and starting to show her age.  Our other was 13 when he had a stroke and had to be out to sleep.

Is that limited to UK? Or is it a college basketball headset today?

It’s the state of college basketball.  I am a Memphis fan first and UK second.  Memphis fans are having this discussion as three players just entered the portal, and maybe more before it’s all done.  They are all three guys that got a lot of minutes, but maybe not what they envisioned.  On one hand, it’s good that players have more flexibility, because their college career is short, but it does create a sense of chaos.

    I have a 2016 Ram 1500 BigHorn.   I love it.

I have the 2014 model 4/4 quad cab.  102,000 miles, a lot of it pulling a horse trailer, and (knock on wood), I haven’t spent a dime on repairs.  I liked all the American brands, but I bought this one because of the 8-speed transmission.  It has the 5.7 liter hemi...lots of power, and I get low 20’s gas mileage on the highway.

  8. I read the Jack Reacher books (twice) and was looking for a new series.  I found the series by Nick Petrie...Peter Ash is the main character, and I really like them.  I just started the fifth of six books, so far, in the series.

They are in the same vein as JR, but different enough.
