  1. I just bought a new car and am shopping around for a new insurance policy. It seems as though the best deal that I am coming up from is Geico. Does anyone have an experience with Geico? If not, how about with any other online insurance companies? I've used Kentucky Farm Bureau for the last 13 years, but the price they gave me is significantly above the Geico quote.

If you've had good service from KFB, tell them what the Geico quote was. They may think twice about losing a long time customer.

  2. As an aside, has anyone seen the interview with Mrs. Palin and Matt Lauer?

I saw it. I thought she did a great job and handled Lauer better than anyone else could have. I especially liked a little over halfway been Matt acted like he was going to try to defend Letterman. She turned it around very quick, and Lauer decided to change the direction of the interview before she tore into him.

  3. Bob Hope would not make people under 50 laugh today. Like it or not.

I'm 37 and think Bob Hope was 100 times more comical than Letterman. Dave isn't funny or intelligent, IMO. If this had been a spontaneous crack, I would probably give him a pass on it. The fact that this was scripted, rehearsed, and still thrown out there shows that Letterman is either low on the IQ scale, or he just doesn't care what he says or who he hurts. If it's the IQ thing, that can't be helped. You've got what you've got. If it's that he doesn't care, then that just shows what a pure scumbag he is. I don't watch his show, and I'm not a huge Conan fan, either. But I hope Conan kicks his butt in the ratings and CBS takes him off the air. Craig Ferguson's show is better than Letterman's

  4. I have good luck at fast food restaurants. I would say the proper order success rate for me is close to or equal that of sit-down restaurants. When I was in high school, I worked at McD's for 2 years. I learned you have to talk slowly and enunciate clearly, especially in the drive-thru. Also, you must keep in mind the types of people working fast food. Either h.s. or college kids that work around their schedule, or adults that are working in the best job they are capable of working. This isn't 100% accurate, but from my experiences, I would put it in the high 90's.

  5. Troy Built is a good mower. That is probably a good price, but what is the horse power? Before you buy, you should check other places than just Lowes and Home Depot. SCAG makes a good zero turn, as well as Hustler. Stay away from John Deere. They are good mowers, but way over priced.

  6. The kid made a commitment to the team. He needs to be there. The videotape is a good idea. I graduated h.s. in 1990. This very thing happened to the baseball team, only it wasn't a regional game, it was the state semi-final. Every senior on that team played in the game. The principal had told them ahead of time that he wouldn't even read their names or acknowledge the fact that they playing a baseball game. So the valedictorian mentioned it in her speech, and called each name out one by one. The rest of us left the seats open where the guys would have been. You could see our principal getting all red-faced as she read those names and mentioned the empty seats. It was great.

  7. You mean God looks Physically like US?? Then what space does God possess? How can God be in all places if God looks physically like us??

I assumed "in God's image" meant a being capable of thought and love.

I take the Bible at as a literal translation. To me, an image is an appearance. I guess you could take it to mean whatever you like. That is basically why there are so many different denominations out there. Everyone interrupts things differently. But thanks for trying to set me straight.

  8. So, you honestly believe that he didn't know how many states we have?

I have a bachelors degree in chemistry. I accidently confused hydrogen and helium in lecture one day last week. Does this indicate that I don't know anything about the very basics of chemistry? Or is it possible that I just made a mistake?

That is exactly mt point. Palin is being touted as stupid by the left for a simple speaking mistake. If Obama had said the same thing, it would be said, "Hey he made a mistake. He's only human." But let Sarah Palin commit the same type of error, and she is ripped to shreds. The left paint themselves as being compasionate and tolerant. They are neither.

  9. Nancy Pelosi said today that the CIA lied to Congress years ago when they told them that waterboarding was not being used when in fact it had already been used.

Should the CIA be held accountable for being truthful with Congress?

Prove they lied first. I'm more inclined to believe the folks charged with keeping us safe rather than some self serving member of Congress that just likes to hear herself talk.

  10. The Gov came to the side of Carrie Prejean and said the following gem:

"I applaud Donald Trump for standing with Carrie during this time. And I respect Carrie for standing strong and staying true to herself, and for not letting those who disagree with her deny her protection under the nation's 1st Amendment rights," the former vice presidential candidate said.

"Our Constitution protects us all — not just those who agree with the far left," Palin said.

Really? She really thinks that's true?

Please point out to me exactly what she said that would make you say she "stepped in it".

  11. My parents never went to college. They didn't lose their minds when I graduated. So, I don't buy the "the kid is doing something the family never did " thinking.

Secondly, why would the kid who flipped off the crowd be grabbed by the police?

For performing an obscene gesture. Obscenity laws are based on the morals of an area or a setting. What is obscene in one area of the country may not be in another. But in a very rural setting with a dozen baptist preachers in the crowd, flipping them off would be considered obscene, thus resulting in a misdemeanor arrest. Any lawyers or police officers that are in the know, correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure this is how it is.

  12. The Port Clinton/Sandusky area of northern Ohio makes for a great family vacation. Sandusky has Cedar Point, a much better amusement park than Kings Island IMO. East Harbor State Park along the shores of Lake Erie has some very nice family friendly beaches that are awesome. Marble Head Light House is something to visit. Doesn't cost anything, but it's one of those things that will stick with your kids. It's not everyday you can walk right up to a real working light house. There are several dairies in the area that give tours of their ice-cream making facilities ( I recommend Toft's). Sandusky has a lot of shopping and eating that would remind you of a sea shore town rather than a town in the midwest. There are some great seafood places in Sandusky and Port Clinton. You can also take a ferry out to Kelly's Island and Put-In-Bay. On either of these islands you can rent bikes and do a lot of sight seeing around the islands. And Lake Erie has some of the best walleye fishing you will ever find. There are numerous charter services that would be happy to take your money.
