  1. I think Corbin is definetly a team to watch out for. They might get off to a slow start at the beginning of the season, but by seasons end they should be doing good. It is possible, but I dont see them handling South this year, but in the next few years I think they will have their number, unless South recruits anyone. What is the status on Slusher, is he playing? I think Bell's chances will depend on Slusher. Bell is the outright number 2 right now no doubt. I am sure as the season goes on everyone will think that a different team is looking like the number two, but I saw them play this summer without Slusher, and they played right with Ballard and Doss out of Louisville.
  2. I had a chance this summer to see several of the 13th Region area teams in action. South does have the upper hand this year, but I think next year you are going to see a more balenced out region. But lets focus on this year. South was one of the teams I saw play this summer, and I really was not that impressed with them. I saw them lose to Cordia or Buckhorn, I forget which. Their jv team had two different coaches this summer. They played great for one coach and seemed as if they really liked him, and the other I saw players getting into arguments with him. Like a situation of who is the kids here? Those jv guys will have to step up for them in order for them to reign this year. I do agree with you Log Mountain Boy, they seem to be a three man team, and what happens if one of those three were to go down to injury? I believe with Goins back and another Whitaker playing varsity, I think Bell has a shot to push them, not saying they will beat them, but I know Whitaker will have his guys ready to play if they meet in March
  3. I think Bell is the number two team outright as of right now. I hear some of Cumberlands players may not be elgitble I do not know for sure that is just word through the grapevine. Jackson County has just not proven anything. I still look for Clay or North to come out of that district. As for South, does anyone know who will be their players besides Smith, Hammonds, and Profitt? The number two spot in the region is a big question, but I think an even bigger question could be who will be Souths other two starters, and are they good enough to replace all the things that Walt Allen did for them?
  4. I would look for him to be more dominant, especially with the experience that he has now. Last year in the region against Clay when they needed a basket in the end, he went away from the ball. I look for this year in situations like that he is going to take the game over. I hear this freshmen point guard is really good? Will he not play freshmen or junior varsity and just start varsity? Is he that good?
  5. I think they are going to be pretty solid, but yet young. They can be very dangerous if Crawford has a more supporting cast this year. They are still a year away from winning the Region I think, but their future looks bright.
  6. I do agree, South seems to be heads above the rest this year, and you could probably shake things up and on any given night anyone from 2 to 10 could beat each other. My question is, maybe you guys know more about things than me, but besides Proffitt, Hammonds, and Smith, who will be the other starters for South? And are they good enough to compete at the level that they expect to be at? One of their "blue chip recruits" from North? A JV player from last year? Another question, is there a player on the team that can do the little things that Walt Allen did? All those offensive rebounds he got to put back in. They are the hands on favorite, but still a lot of questions I think remain about them as well as everyone else.
