Is Hatton staying at Dixie or going prep school?
I was told that Hatton would be to old to play his senior year, so maybe prep school his senior year? Don't know if this is true but that's what I was told by someone that was pretty close to the program.

Got three of the final four. Didn't pick Louisville. Have UK and OSU in the finals with UK winning.
-
I thought it was a terribly played game. I agree the last few seconds We're probably the most exciting part of the tournament, but it was a poorly played game.
Agree. But at least the end had some excitement.
-
He'll have to be for them to get out of the 7th. Very disappointing tournament, all things considered.
This was the weakest field I can ever remember seeing. The only exciting game was Oldham Co. and KCC, the rest were actually pretty boring.
-
Usually maybe but not this year. If Boone Co. was the best the 9th had, the region was way down. Why is that? Talent level of the top 5 or 6 teams in the 9th region is usually on par with most regions best except the 6th, 7th, 10th and the 11th.I think Knott will win tonight but not tomorrow morning.

Skaggs 17-17 from the line for Russell.
That's impressive!
-
The draw has been this same for the past 5 years...
The results will be the same too. This district has to be one of the weakest districts in the state; especially compared to the other three districts in the 11th. Madison Central wins this district every year. Southern will occasionally have a competetive team but Berea and Model just can't compete with Central. Not trying to knock anyone, just stating a fact.
-
Wow, Highlands used to be competitive year in and year out, what has happend to their program the past few years?

Boone County won the 2012 Toyota Classic Girls Round Robin Tournament by defeating each of the other three teams in the competition. The Lady Rebels beat Clay County 51-43, handing the Lady Tigers just their third loss of the season, Franklin County 57-47, and host Scott County 57-38. Clay finished the competition at 2-1,while Franklin County was 1-2, and Scott County 0-3.
Sydney Moss led the way averaging 24.3 points per game and 12.0 rebounds per game. Moss was selected as Defensive Player of the Game in two of the games and was selected to the All-Tournament team. Boone's Lydia Nash also received a Defensive Player of the Game award and averaged 13.7 PPG and 7.0 RPG but somehow was not named to the All-Tournament. Sometimes you wonder what the selectors are watching!
Other All-Tournament selections (from memory and I may not have them all correct) included Alisha Mitchell and Cheyenne Madden fro Clay County, Malaka Frank and Dasia Kilbourne from Franklin County (both just 8th graders), Alexis Switzer from Boone County, and (here's where I'm not sure) Tereka Guyn and Audriene Christopher (?) from Scott County.
Nicely run tournament and we met some great folks, but I do have a few suggestions for them that I'll try to pass on when I figure out how.
Agree! I was thinking the exact same thing.

That Deming team was one of the best in school history. You are saying Davis was a good hire based on what. I heard the last two or three years he has applied for almost every head coaching position that has came open and nobody hired him. I also heard that South Laurel offered the job to two other candidates before Davis took it and neither of them had head coaching experience. He has only won 5 games. The administration should have went after a big name coach based of the tradition at South Laurel. They did not do that and look at what has happened. Just blame the administration. You can only hope that they will fix it when the season is over.
Based on tradition? I don't think too many BIG NAME coaches were even interested in the opening. They had the position posted for three months and according to you, two other coaches with no head coaching experience turned them down. Sounds like you should be "counting your lucky stars" that they got Davis to take the job.
He will be fine.
-
With time. South Laurel is not a program that needs rebuilding. They should be winning now. Like I said every team deals with injuries but good coaches make adjustments and keep winning. I blame the Principal and Athletic Director for not getting a more experienced veteran coach. But that can be fixed when the season is over.
You must be a mad parent because your "little Johnny" isn't getting the playing time you want him to get. Coach Davis is a very good coach that came into a down program. In 10-11 when Steve Wright was coaching they went 12-17 and lost in the first round of districts. That team lost to a couple of the smallest schools in the state, Deming and Augusta. (not knocking Deming or Augusta).
Give him a little time and a healthy squad and he will win. The AD and Principal picked a very good candidate to take over the South Laurel program.

Wow! Highlands is really struggling this year.

Does anyone have any info on Aaron Watts?
Can't believe no one has mentioned Jarrod Polson(UK).
Gavin Dunagan-Wayne County-Transylvania
Trevor Edginton-Lincoln County-Transylvania, I believe
Zach Hill-Lincoln County-?
Aaron Watts left Morehead's baseball team and is now at the University of the Cumberlands playing basketball.
Someone asked about CJ Penny earlier in this thread, I'm hearing that he will be going to Asbury University and start playing basketball in January 2012

I heard what Goldie heard. I did hear some rumblings about his grades but was told his grades were fine and he will graduate on time. Plus, has the KHSAA ever ruled anyone ineligible for grades? Wouldn't that be overstepping their boundaries? I know of plenty of kids with horrendous grades who were still eligible or at least they still played. Can the KHSAA make eligibility determinations based on grades?[/QUOTE]
Wouldn't think so, but PCC's head coach's son is the head coach at Logan High School in WV, and that was what I told was the reason he didn't go to Logan H.S. and ended up at PCC.
-
Totally agree. Can anyone tell us why he is ineligible? :ohbrother:
I heard that he tried to go to Logan, WV but he could not play there due to not having enough or correct academic credits. That may be the same problem here in KY. I believe there is a connection between the coaching staff at Logan, WV and Perry Co Central.

Just saying, if he had went to Scott County or Trinity, he would have been eligible with NO questions asked..... Period....I know that the Hicks kid went to 3 different high schools within a 1 year time frame and he was rule ineligible last year, but he is back practicing and playing this year, has anyone cared to check in on who is paying for that bill at Trinity? Guess NOT..... Or how about the kids would have transferred to Scott County, who so just happens their parents get a job at Toyota, has anyone from KHSAA checked in on those? Guess NOT....
Do you have a clue to what you are talking about? Hicks went to Trinity and he was ruled inelibible and sat out an entire year. Cunningham transferred out of Scott Co. I haven't heard of any transfers go to Scott Co. the last three years. At least no high school transfers that I know of. The transfers three years ago were all ruled ineligible then after the appeal process they were finally ruled eligible by the Board of Controls (the ineligible rulings were directly from Devrees herself, which was totally biased in almost every decision she made while at KHSAA). Also, please tell us who got jobs at Toyota? I would love to know, since you know so much or at least think you do.
I wouldn't mind having a job at toyota. Maybe I should take my kids there and get a job.

This is a shame. Every time I've spoken with him he was always very respectful and nice; he was cocky and loud on the court, but I honestly felt he was a good kid. This is what happens when kids that are easily influenced or have the tendency to make bad decisions get around the wrong crowd. Hopefully the six months incarcerated will teach him a lesson in making the right decisions.
Maybe going down to Florida was not the best for him afterall. Just because it's one of the top JUCO's around for moving players up to the Div 1 ranks doesn't mean it's was the best place for him. People need to realize; after high school the main goal is to get an education. Playing JUCO, DIII, NAIA, DII or D1 doesn't matter, it's all about getting the degree.
Parents and mentors need to look at what is best for the kid and put them in the best position to attain their degree. Not whether it's D1 or some big name school. Too many parents and kids fall into this trap and make a decision based on ego than common sense.

If next year's Dixie team consists only of underclassman on the 2010-2011 team, they will be the overwhelming favorite to repeat as 9th Region champs. If they add a few players :scared:.
I have some Dixie alum friends who were poking at me about the anticipated influx of prep school type talent to Park Hills. I just don't see it happening. If you think the parent flack was heavy in the past, wait until a sophmore or junior who has been in the Cov. Cath. b'ball pipeline since playing in the grade school leagues loses playing time (or a roster spot) to a transfer who needs MapQuest to find the gym.
 I too am waiting for that scenario to unfold!

Taylor can not play in this tournament.
Seniors can not play only seniors to be.
Yeah, that is correct, forgot it was AAU sanctioned event.
In NCAA Certified events, unsigned seniors can play in the U17 division.
-
If he is currently a senior how can he be playing U17?
If he is an unsigned senior, he can still play U17

Can't say anything about the tryout as I wasn't there. Can say that Kellen is a much much better player than Gilbert and I don't think you will get an arguement in that outside of a homer. I don't understand the selection criteria but this may be a reflection why Indiana has dominated the series for so long. Some of the players left off the team clearly shows that the coaches didn't like certain aspects of their game because they did not select them by talent.
Man, get over it. Why single out someone that made the team? Maybe Gilbert out-played the players that did not make the team? Could that be a possibility? Or did Gilbert have a skillset that the coaches felt they needed? Congratualtions to all the boys that made the team and to those that didn't, I commend your effort.
I'm sure some of the kids that didn't try out probably felt that they had nothing to gain except a lot of criticizsm from the so called "experts" on this site and other similar sites if they don't perform up to everyone's expectations.

How do other states pick them?
Honestly, I think an exclusive group of BGP members should pick the team and the coaches. Most reputable source for Ky High School athletics and every region would seen, heard and represented. The group could take feedback from the board and I'd be willing to bet money a team the whole state could get behind would be picked. Wishful thinking though......I know.
You can't be serious?

Congratulations to Rowan Co.
but, 32 POINTS?

If I'm not mistaken, their run through the regional tournament was Shelby Valley's first three game winning streak of the year.
You're probably right, the way I figure it, they could have only won 9 games the entire regular season before districts started.

Could be, does anyone really know? I'm sure someone out there could confirm this.
