    Most people celebrating?

Some celebrating, some mad, some sad, some just straight up flustered.

Very entertaining.  The happy folks are the most fun. 😂😂😂😂

    I agree!

Women's college hoops has to be at an all time peak and I love it!

Agreed!  And Caitlin Clark is a large part of that. She’s so much fun to watch.  As a Kobe guy I absolutely hate that we won’t get to see his daughter play as she would have undoubtedly pushed the women’s game even higher.

I can's say specifically but from one of her interviews she is definitely hands off and made a comment about letting young people be themselves.  Whatever she is doing, it works.

One thing I noticed is her players absolutely love her.

I don’t feel like Kim Mulkey gets the same love from her players.

I just started paying attention so I am sure what I think right now and what I may think after a couple of more years of paying attention may be different.

She was "heavy" on God and it also sounds like she let's her players get away with a lot.

Isn't she some new wave version of Phil Jackson?

What do her players get away with?

It's sad and it feels like there is a narrative.  Pretty sure someone just stated the only way the WNBA grows, is with support from Women, yet here we are.

Disagree.  I want to watch the WNBA more than ever before to see who is right?  The old heads or Caitlin.   It’s going to be great entertainment.  I don’t understand why folks are so bent out of shape about what the old heads are saying?   Why do we hold women to different standards than men?

Men talk trash all the time and we tune in to see who backs it up.  This is no different.  I’ve never been this excited to watch the WNBA before.

They are selling their league IMO.

No I would not. He would be just like Cal in my opinion a great recruiter but not a good in game coach. Maybe you see that already I just think it is a little to soon to reach that conclusion.  I was surprised that if UConn wins this year's tournament that they will have as many titles as Duke and Carolina combined.

UConn has quietly become a blue blood before our eyes.

I guess the way they have played this weekend this can die down for a few days and for good if they beat #1 seed Houston on Friday.

Nope. Not for me.  This kind of success early on only ensures that mediocrity will be tolerated down the road.  My beef is always been that he isn’t the answer long term.

He’s exceeding my expectations this year for sure with what he has shown us during this regular season.

For me this raises the roof on the expectations for next year’s team.  A bigger, badder version of this year’s team.

I’m grateful for their run so far.  I hope they win it all.

If Scheyer has one title in fifteen years should I call that a success?

There were quite a few times this year where Reed looked like the freshman he is. He is a defensive liability. He made mind boggling turnovers. I see the talent.  And I know what he's projected to be - he'll go onto the NBA.  But man, he sure doesn't look ready to me.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Reed.

    This is facts.

Do any of you feel that NIL and the portal have leveled the playing field a bit? The perennial powerhouses seem to be having a more difficult time.

A little bit but I don’t think that is the issue at Duke.  They were having these issues before Coach K gave the keys to Scheyer.

What did Coach K's last 7 years look like? One final four. Lost 8 or 9 games a year most of those seasons.

My take on this is the model doesn't win titles. Duke and UK are in the same boat. With NIL and the transfer rules, experience is winning over the most talent. If half or more your rotation are freshmen, only a lot of luck will win a title. UK will test that this year if they keep playing how they are and better. But my thought now it is the one and done model that is the issue.

Coach K copied off of Calipari and had the exact same results.  One title with the One and Done model.  Jon Scheyer follows the same model.  I could go on and on about Coach K’s final years and his legacy.

    I don’t want that model.

Hey @PurplePride92 it worked for @TheDeuce😃🤷‍♂️so you never know. Grant it however Payne has had a little worst results than Coach Scheyer. Also, Coach Scheyer has by far the best class coming in for next season and it is not that close right now. An early exit in the tournament this year and again next season you can say you were way ahead of the curve.

I’ve seen enough to know that any success he has next year with that team will be a fluke.  He hasn’t shown me that he can properly develop talent.

  12. This is my official #FireScheyer thread.

I know he isn’t the answer long term.  He’s proven that.

Unfortunately he is arguably the best recruiter in college basketball so his job is most likely pretty safe for awhile.

I’m just starting this thread so we can track how long it takes for Duke to come to their senses.

I feel like how UK fans used to be when they would say….”if he can’t win it all next year with the kids he has coming in…..”

I’ve seen this movie before.  It just had a different cast.

There’s no way that THIS particular team shouldn’t be much better than what they are.

    That’s on the coach.

    We’ll see what happens.

Never be the guy who follows the legend.  Be the guy who replaces that guy.

I look forward to seeing who that guy will be.   I’m wide open today.  Taking all applications.  Brotherhood or not.
