  1. If our upperclassmen supposedly aren't playing up to par, well we now have a blueprint as to what will happen in the future when these underclassmen become upperclassmen and aren't playing up to par. They too will be pacing on the sidelines losing their minds along with the rest of us who have seen it before. If it happens once, it can always happen again.

  2. What I am saying is that, this year's sophomores were last year's freshman, which was Coach Pardue's 1st year coaching. In 2 years, this year's sophomores will be seniors which means that all four classes that will make up the football team will have a Coach Pardue as head coach stamp on them. The juniors and seniors on this years team had at least 1 year of Chuck Smith stamped on them. Get it? That's is why I said that in 2 years Coach Pardue will have HIS 1st senior class. Sorry for the confusion.

Phillip Mason fumbled the handoff at the SW 4 yard line before halftime. Josh Miller was ruled to have fumbled the ball at the 50, from my vantage point it looked like his arm hitting the ground caused the fumble, but officials are human, mistakes happen.

Danville outcoached us because our coaches thought it smart to go for 2 with 11 minutes left in the 4th quarter forcing us to have to go for 2 when we didn't convert the first time. We should have kicked it, hindsight is 20/20,yes had we got it'd have been great, but when you gamble you lose sometimes.

I guess I am disappointed in the coaching like some other folks while some people like the direction they are going. And that's fine, I have no kids on this team so it's a lot easier for me to move on, but when you sit and look at all the sacrifices these kids have made over the last 3-4 years, all the sacrifices their families have made over the past 3-4 years, all the kids that have given up other sports they may have been successful in to play for the BC Rebel football program, I just hate to ee the way things seem to be turning out. I just wonder how a lot of people who support the coaches(Mr. Burgandy) would feel if they were the father of Josh Miller watching your son literally losing his mind on the sidelines last night, I just wonder if you would be so high up on the underclassmen then. Or would you actually be a concerned parent/fan wondering about the direction and leadership of what is regarded as a top notch football program.

I hope you are right about the future, because as stated earlier, the present is leaving a nasty taste in my mouth.

  3. Obviously Mr. Burgandy has some sort of delusions as to what makes up the whole football team. To even suggest that mason looked better at QB that Perry is absurd. One day he may be as good as Brandon Smith or Duggins, but last night he didn't look that good. Just to imply that the upperclassmen have no talent is absurd. To say that Josh Miller has no talent is absurd. They only lost 2 games in the whole season last year, they should be more competitive.

  4. That's my whole issue. Give Boyle 2 years and things will be back. Boyle was outplayed at Henry Clay, outcoached vs. Danville, and Lafayette was a game that BC could have won as well. WITH THE VARSITY. Are you going to tell me that this team has no talent? Are you going to tell me a team that is missing Bradley Emerson(why did he quit before the season even started), a team that went 11-1 last year is a rebuilding team? Look to the future. Are you serious?!?!? What about these kids out here right now?!?!?!? That is my question. As stated earlier, did the juniors and seniors just suddenly forget to play footballl after 3-4 years in the system. Who made those fumbles last night. I know the JV OFFENSE had a few of them as well. Are you serious?!?!?! In two years you know what we will have....Chris Pardue's 1st senior class. That's what happens in two years. Boyle has no excuse for not being more competitive last night, but when your SENIOR leaders aren't allowed on the field to lead the entire second half, then what good do you have. I know firsthand as well that the future for Boyle looks good(that's not my issue), I am there alongside you and you don't even know it, but I also know that the upperclassmen are getting thrown under the bus, and I feel that they don't need to be. I know Brandon Smith isn't walking through that door, I know Matt Quinn, and Jeff Duggins, and the Tamme family and Leffew family have all graduated, that's not the point. The point is that despite the so called lack of talent, this team was in a position to be successful this year, but now who knows what will happen next. The coaches decided to go with Perry at QB, why, who knows, but to have Grant Tamme behind center all last year and to see him moved to receiver for a QB who may not be as talented as him was a coaching move. Lots a questionable coaching decisions in the past year, and despite the wins or losses, it's the coaching decisions that has all the BC faithful befuddled.

  5. I was thinking the same thing while I looked for you at the game BC62fan. The image of a pacing and crying Josh Miller while the offense was on the field will forever be imbedded in my memory. I wish I could ease the pain as well. For Josh and all the other Rebels who have given their heart and soul to BC. Such a debacle.

  6. 1. Mercer Co.

    2. Danville

    3. Lincoln Co.

    4. Boyle Co.

    5. Casey Co.

    6. Garrard Co.

I have seen Mercer, Danville, and Boyle play. Mercer seems to be better than Danville, and I am sure Lincoln has a better coaching staff than Boyle so Lincoln gets the 3 spot before Boyle. Boyle may not make the playoffs this year. Seriously, they look worse every week. I'd love to see a Mercer-Danville game this year, but it won't happen. I have to give the edge to Mercer as #1 at this point.

  7. I sure hope Larry Vaught doesn't sugarcoat this on Sunday. I'm sure he will though. I'd love to be a guest reporter for the Sunday paper so I could find out EXACTLY what the deal was, but I know that we never will know. Just like the "incident" with the 4 middle school football players, it will get swept under the rug.

  8. Just a question for all the Boyle County fans out there who may have seen what I witnessed tonight. Tonight, at the Boyle-Southwestern game I watched a coaching staff quit on its team. Its junior and seniors in particular. This has been an ongoing trend that the coaching staff (yes, I am indicting all of the BC coaches) seems to be consistent with this year.

The score was 21-0 in the 3rd quarter with about 3 minutes left and Boyle had a 4th and 6 around the Southwestern 15 yard line. I thought to myself, Josh Miller time. Well, BC went for it and right before the ball was hiked, I noticed the great number 21 on the sideline. After Boyle failed to convert the 1st down, the defense ran onto the field and number 21 went out with the defense. I thought, that's strange, why wasn't THE BEST PLAYER not on the field in such a critical moment.

After watching number 21 make 3 tackles to get a quick 3 and out for Southwestern, he ran off the field when the BC offense ran on, and that's when it happened. I watched a SENIOR, pacing, with tears in his eyes, intently over and over. He paced the whole offensive series. BC eventually scored a touchdown on this series and number 21 never saw a snap on the offensive side of the ball.

I then put my pocket radio on the local station (I was listening to the Mercer game) to hear the announcer for BC say, that's the JV offense in the game. WHY WAS THE JV IN THE GAME SO EARLY?!?!?!?!? This was still a winnable game. I cannot, I repeat, I CANNOT understand why Josh Miller, nor Cole Stevens were not in the game. Cole may have re-injured himself, but Josh was still playing defense.

I was so disgusted, my family and I left. I couldn't bear to watch something I KNOW CHUCK SMITH would have never done, and that's quit on his team. Josh Miller knows that game was still well within reach and not only that, at halftime I was told that the regular starting QB was medically cleared to play as well.

Good job BC coaches. My son plays football for the middle school and he says he doesn't want to play after this year. After watching this debacle tonight, I don't think I care if he doesn't want to anymore. I never thought I would see the day when Boyle County quit. BC is officially rebuilding now. I sure wish they would have told us before the season started. Some of us still believed.

:madman: :madman: :madman: :madman: :madman: :madman: :madman:

Congrats to Southwestern tonight as well. They have played Boyle very close for quite some time and tonight they finally got over the hump and defeated what used to be a PROUD Boyle County team. Good luck the rest of the season.

  9. It was a great game, and yes, that could have been a horse collar tackle, but from my view from the endzone seats, it was a clear face mask. He took McShara down by the face mask. It was completely obvious from my vantage point and everyone over in my area, including Mercer fans knew what the call was.

Congratulations to Mercer, their defense should really be the story in this game. A defense that will and should only get better as the season goes on. Good luck this year and I feel good knowing that I can only root for success for Mercer now that this game is out of the way.

  10. Huge win for Mercer County. I am a Bowling Green alum/ Boyle County fan becasue of my stepson. Great game, glad I was there in the packed house standing room only stadium. Boyle played their hearts out and it has been a long 4 weeks for Boyle. I hope they continue to fight on as they begin the district portion of their schedule. All four teams that beat Boyle will make deep playoff runs this year so Boyle players and fans don't need to hang their heads about anything. Mercer was very impressive and I am very happy for the Mercer community that i work in and I wish Mercer and all their fans continued success. Nice job.

And yes, Cory Jackson is real. And yes, I don't care what team you are, what classification you have, and how good your team is, if you let Cory Jackson get to the outside, say goodbye. I truly believe that NOONE in this state of KY playing high school football will catch Cory Jackson when he turns the corner. He is that fast.

  11. Great game. Glad I was there, it was truly an exciting game. Bad decision for Boyle gamble for two when they didn't need it and it ended up costing them. Both teams made the plays when they needed them. Looking forward to the Sept. 15 matchup versus Mercer County, but first, let's see the Rebels step up and show that they aren't down like everyone says and give Lafayette a good game.

  12. No don't close it out, I love it, I love it, I love it.

The players themselves want to win the state title. So do the players at Boyle, danville, Russellville, Bowling Green(Unfinished Business),

insert your high school here. You have to live here to understand the hype involved in all of this. I moved to the area in 1997, and finally this year, people are excited about football in Mercer County. Harrodsburg has had excellent teams and talent but never won a title. They sit next door to Titletown, so yeah, Mercer County fans are excited and they have every reason to be. And yes, I do believe that a rivalry will develop between Mercer County and Boyle County as well as Mercer and Danville. Who really is the big dog between the two counties? I'd like to know and I'm sure a few thousand people would like to know as well. I work at a factory where bragging rights and high school pride rule the hallways and I know that it is the same at all the other factories in the area. There will be arguments all day tomorrow about Boyle and Danville and a lot of eating crow come Monday. Then it'll be Mercer and Boyle arguments starting on Monday as well. Mercer fans have never entered the arguments until this year. I welcome it, I love it, and the more that people hate on Mercer, the stronger they will get. They kind of remind me of Boyle County when I moved here, but I doubt Mercer will win 5 in a row. Regardless of the fact, we will see how this year plays out, we'll see if they can be the best team in 2A at the end, but I will say this, it will take a very good team to beat them. Russell, Belfry, Newport or whomever it may be had better be ready to play because this team is for real. And I am not a Mercer fan, but I love to watch them play.

    Cory Jackson is my hero.

  13. Mercer should easily win district and if they beat Boyle County, they will probably be number 1 in 2A. You have to see Mercer play to understand the excitement coming from Titletown's neighbor. Extremely exciting. I read earlier where someone said people who hadn't been to a game in 10 years were showing up at the game not knowing what a 1st down is. I also know a few people who refuse to come to games after going for 20+ years as well. I can almost guarantee that when Mercer plays, regardless of where they are at, there will be a large following. The excitment, hype, and the overall feeling of a community coming together for a common cause are invigorating and I hope nothing but success for Mercer County Mighty Titans. Yes, Mercer moves up to 5A next year to play with the big boys, but there is a lot of talent that comes from the Mercer area that won't be split between two schools any longer. Not to mention that Marty Jaggers has the coaching pedigree. The new quote some Mercer County fans have adopted is "The dynasty begins...." I'm glad I'll be here to watch it.
