  1. A few facts:

    1. Trinity has played eight 6A games this year (BGP rankings):

    #2 St. X (2)

    #4 Ballard

    #7 Eastern

    #9 Seneca

    #10 PRP

    Manual (2)

All wins, with the average score 43-8.

    2. Since Beatty's been here (2000), Trinity has never lost a road playoff game.

And hence, the best Trinity Shamrock team ever only to be surpassed by next years team.

  2. It sounds like Ryle has there best team ever ready to face the Shamrocks at home. They are facing the best Trinity team ever only to be surpassed by next years team. It is great to see the best play the best. I do not know about stepping in do-do, but I do not see the Shamrocks being the team from Louisville to end the football domination held on to by Louisville schools that so many despise.

  3. Davids have beaten Goliaths. Never say Never but........

Here is the perfect storm scenario I have seen this year:

Trinity loses the 2009 State Championship to St. Xavier which reinvigorated Coach Beatty and the Shamrocks from any complaicency or resting on their laurels they may have experienced from the 2005 - 2008 run. This combined with the best Trinity squaud ever to suit up for the Shamrocks only to be surpassed by next years squad and you have the perfect storm.

  4. CentreRocks I am not saying St. Xavier does not also encourage the best athletes from all over to come to their school, it is just another area that Trinity is doing better at than St. Xavier. It is not just the coach's although who aid in this effort. It is the total communities of each program and the programs' success that aids in this area. It is one of the reasons St. Xavier and especially Trinity has done to distance themselves from other Jefferson County schools. With arguably some of the best talent in Jefferson County schools this year, St. Xavier nor Trinity in the end were even closely contested. St. Xavier as well as Trinity is open to all as I think you and I can both agree, but more than ever on both teams athletes from the other than traditional CSAA route to the schools is contributing greater and greater to the programs. Nothing wrong with this, it is just a changing demographic that I feel is improving both football teams and keeping them ahead of the competition.

  5. What more could I have said? I have said from the beginning of the year that this is the best Trinity team ever only to be surpassed by next years team.

I hate losing to Trinity. No....I HATE LOSING TO TRINITY!!!!!

Enjoy your trip to Ryle. They were some of the best fans to come into Thomas More Paige Stadium last year. I was looking forward to paying them a visit.

  6. In the last few years it boils down to which team can encourage the best athletes to come to their school. Coach Beatty is beginning to win most of these battles too. The most encouragment he has to offer is his style of offense and championships won. Coach Glaser is a good man, good teacher, and good football coach. Despite his losses to Trinity in the Coach Beatty error, he will be St. Xavier's head coach for as long as he wants barring some unforeseen event. The St. Xavier administration does not look at losing to Trintiy or style of football played as the total measure of their coach despite all the pain it inflicts on alumni and supporters when losing this deeply felt and fearsome rivalry game.

  7. I realized that as soon as I posted it. However, the same applies to A. The schools with those number disadvantages are normally not competative at the state level. You can alsot look at real numbers. Who has a greater advantage, a school with 200 boys over a school with 100, or a school with 1400 over a school with 700?

    So what is your solution?

  8. I have a question that may lead to a solution, What amount of resources, time, money, community involvement, does it take to develop a winning football team?

Does a greater empahsis on football prowess or other athletic endeavors for that matter positively or negatively affect academics?

Maybe with more emphasis on football/athletics, to help develop a sense of school pride and involvement, the academics benefit. From the latest reports, it could not hurt.

  9. Are the X starters who have been out most of the season playing? With their return and question marks around Travis Wright, this could lead to the Tigers being favored.

One starting running back returning, the other no longer with team as of last week. Leading receiver out. Defense all should be back, hopefully at 100%.

  10. Louisville Football overall is still top dog in Kentucky with Northern Kentucky a distant second. The best football schools just happen to be in 6A, as you might expect from the largest metropolitan area in Kentucky, and therefore are overshadowed by the two dominant schools St. Xavier and Trinity. 4A, 3A, 2A, and 1A are also well represented by the aforemention schools making Louisville tops.

As far as basing opinions on Louisville Football only on St. Xavier and Trinity, they seem to get the most exposure, are members of the large school class, and win year end and year out, so, justifiable or not opinions seem to follow their success and/or failures.

  11. I believe that:

St. Xavier leads all games played between the two schools 36 wins, 31 losses and 2 ties.

St. Xavier leads the rilvalry games 29 wins, 23 losses and 2 ties.

Can some one verify this for me? Thanks.

I will wait to later on to predict the score in this one. Injuries and personnel changes have come to play a bigger part in this game than I blelieve any one here expected. It will be interesting to see how the players for both teams step up. I do not feel this week that any of the players on either side will have a problem rising to the occasion.

  12. Ox,

People must really be drinking the purple koolaid. Trinity is ranked numbe one in all polls and as you and I both know this is the best Trinity team ever only to be surpassed by next year's team. You have laid out the facts and they still do not get it. Trinity wins this game big. Sorry Purples but it is what it is, all we can do is hope.
