  1. What about Cov Cath being ranked over B.G. Any thoughts?

Personally, I don't see how they could put anyone over BG...Not that I think they're unbeatable, but, they've proven to be #1 until someone else beats them...Possibly because there district is weak with exception of WEast, but, there Non-district schedule was strong with WCentral and St X

  2. The biggest difference in this year and past years is a much more capable passing attack. In the past Mayfield has only passed out of necessity, this year the run is still what Morris prefers and always will but he has tried to allow himself to utilize the strengths this team has and that is a much better passing attack that is sometimes used in other situations than out of being forced to throw. Maybe we learned a thing or two from a NCC team last year or maybe Morris just cant ignore the teams strengths which any good coach would do. I dont think this years defense is as good as last years, it has been awsome against inferior teams in our district and preformed nicely against PT but earlier in the year there were some backs that had huge games against the Cards. I can still invision a blur from the Hoptown game that I heard some fans refer to as Taylor, a kid from Union had a run or two early that I cant shake the memory of and williams from Marshall County looked all state. The defense worries me but it has been awhile since we have had any backs hurt us.

If you recall, last years team had some atroshish nights on the defensive end and then got better later on in the year...

  3. Fact: UK is above UL because they played UL

Fact: UL is below UK because they played UK

Then Brohms stats should be alot better than Woodsons considering UKs defense is dead last in the country and ULs defense is so good...

As far as the Cards running so much in the red zone, then why did Cantwell have 5 passing TDs in 2 games and Brohm 6 in 7 games...

  4. I like the way you think Rocket!

I think Metcalfe is a good team no doubt, but Mayfield is really peaking at the right time and I feel are just as good as last years team with the exception of the O-line. The long bus ride won't seem so long on a charter bus with a football DVD playing and a meal stop! Shelton can run or throw, has four backs who can carry the load, and three receivers that can catch the big one. Plus with McNutt at kicker and Williams at punter, Mayfield has as good as special teamers as anyone in the state. Mayfield's "D" has only given up 14 points in the last 6 games to the first team!

    Mayfield-40

    Metcalfe-15

I wouldn't go as far as to say they were as good as last years team...Last years team had a very good corp of RBs in Rust,Hatchell and Dumas to go along with Shelton...Theres noone in this years backfield who can compare to any of the 3..This yrs RBs are adequate but nothing more..I think this years OL is better at pass blocking and they have better receivers and Shelton has uped his game a notch or 2, but, overall, last years offense was better..I do think that Mayfields DBs and LBs are better and may get a slight nod over last years defense, but, just slightly if any...

  5. I am thrilled for Andre as well, he has exceeded most fans expectations.

I still take Brohm. Heck I would even take Chad Henne.

Brohm is more mobile than Woodson.

I like the way Brohm works the LOS..audibles and so forth...I havent seen that as much from Woodson. Much of the year, UK has run a sugar huddle with coaches calling in plays from sidelines after getting a look at defensive personnel. Have not seen a lot of audibilizing from Woodson.

Where was Brohm's audible skills in the Rutgers game...He had no clue the whole 2nd half...As far as the mobility goes, I have to wonder what you're watching..Brohm is slower afoot than Woodson..If he were mobile at all, he wouldn't have taken 10 sacks in the 2nd half..He would have scrambled out of the pocket and made some plays...Fact is, Brohm is strickly a pocket passer...

  6. Dont leave your day job, you wont last a day as a NFL scout. Brohm at this time is not even close. You obviously missed him the other night in the 2nd half of the Ru game. He has not yet lived up to his billing but I still hold out hope he will. His numbers are no better than Woodson's at this point, stats dont lie. Good thing he is playing against the BE rather than SEC, he is to fragile at this point to withstand SEC play every week where as in the BE he only has a game or 2 where he is facing that kind of play.

Some people have blinders on when it comes to certain things...I, too, hope Brohm ends up living up to his billing, but, IMO, he hasn't yet..I would have thought this conversation silly myself at the 1st of the year, but, I think it's a legit question now...

  7. Who are the top 10, if you don't think Warren Central makes the cut? The BGP poll, easily the best in the land pound for pound, disagrees with you.

The Big 3, HClay, Lafayette, Ryle, Henderson Co., Owensboro, Lincoln Co and Scott Co....I know some of these teams have been eliminated, but at year end, thats who I would have had in there....i would have had Manual ahead of WCentral as well...

  8. Yup, only in state losses were to Male, X, and Trinity. Beat several top 10 teams like Warren Central and PRP. Not to mention Meade Co, a regional finalist. Decent. Trinity's played nobody.

Yes, decent...the 4 instate losses were by a combined score difference of 122-25 and when you throw in the Brentwood loss it was 171-31 difference...Not what I would call very competitive...Yes, you beat PRP, who proved to be an overranked team and yes, Meade Co is still left, but, they've also been beat 5 times this year by some not so great teams. I'll give you WCentral as a good win, but, imo, they aren't a Top 10 team, but definately the best win Manual has....

  9. I picked Lex Cath. over Franklin Co. but this is the game i'm the most unsure about, i think this is the second best game this weekend behind CCH and the team from Ft. Thomas. I think Franklin Co. can win this one, it depends if Ammons has a good game like I think he will and if the Franklin Co. D can stop the talented Lex Cath receivers.

Ammons had the good game but the 2nd part didn't hold up...

  10. You can't always base 1 game stats on a QBs efficiency...Maybe a few of those were dropped or others that the defense made great plays...I'd trust it if someone said he was an accurate thrower...How many coaches would call 21 pass plays on a wet night with the lead unless they had confidence in there passing game, especially when you've got a RB gaining over 200 yds..

  11. QB-Adam Shelton of Mayfield has to be a consideration for All state,.His stats aren't going to be as impressive as a Tandy or Ammons, because Mayfield is a typically run oriented team, but, maybe he could get 1 of those athletes positions..He's the bread and butter that makes the Cards tick with his passing, running and leadership ability..

  12. Considering Brohm came out of HS as the #1 or 2 QB in the nation, what he's accomplishing is probably below expectations....He's only hitting on 60% of his pass attempts which to me, is not great, considering the receiving corp and OL he's working behind..He also has a great offensive minded coach in Petrino...I don't think anyone on here would consider Brooks a good offensive coach, if anything, very generic..In addition, the competition level is much more difficult on UKs side...Brohm would probably still be considered the better prospect, but, imo, no way is he a top 5 pick this year..He maybe 1 day, but, not right now..Woodson isn't either, but, maybe 1 day as well...

  13. Are you serious?

    Brohm hands down.

Brohm is way better...better on long balls...better on touch passes...has a better feel in pocket...and is better in reading defenses.

Andre has improved and will be much better next year...but the comparison is silly.

I disagree...not silly at all....Woodson has a much stronger arm and has a very good touch on his throws...I'll give Brohm the edge in reading defenses and a better feel in the pocket, but, other than that, I feel things lean toward Woodson..IMO, Brohm is a good short to middle route thrower, but lacks zip on the long balls..It looks to me like he lofts everything or is much more a finesse passer than anything..I just don't see the armstrength everyone talks about...Woodson, on the other hand, has a cannon...

  14. The law of averages have to eventually even out...Both these teams have good athletes and fine programs, but, I think this is the year Trigg gets over the OC hump...IMO, Trigg isn't really down compared to last year. They just had a 2 week stretch of losses midseason and all of sudden, people forgot about them...I've thought all along, they were the top 2a team in WKy...OC is playing better as of late, but, they are somewhat down this year, compared to past teams...I'm going with Trigg....27-14

  15. I'm sure Mayfield won't overlook Metcalfe...They've got a fine team, but, it appears they've been inconsistent...They've had some blowout, quality wins and then I see losses to Adair and Mclean and I can't help but wonder about them...I would think the Better Metcalfe team will show up, considering the circumstances and whats at stake, so, I think it'll end up being a good game..I like Mayfields ability to beat you through the air this year, which is typically not the trademark of a Cardinal team, but, it sure opens up the run game when you can pass it....I'll take Mayfield in this one 31-14

  16. :flame:

Absolutely not....Male is definately proven to be head and shoulders above the other teams in Ky, but, they're certainly not unbeatable...Trinity, imo, has alot to prove...There schedules been weak this year with exception of the St X game and haven't been challenged by a decent team since the X game....I think theres several teams who most definately feel they can compete with either...Guess we'll see soon enough..
