  1. ^Where were they ranked at the start of the season? What happends if the lost to another top 5 higher class you still dont take anything from that?JMO.

I believe Green Co was ranked in the Top 5 at the time they beat Hazard..As far as losing to another Top team in a bigger class, I guess it would depend on if they played competitively or played poorly...Hey, this is an opinion poll...If you disagree, let's hear what you think it should like...Noone asked you to agree with mine...

  2. How's everyone see 1a shaping up thru the 1st 3 weeks...Let's hear what everyone's Top 10 would be...Here's mine:

    1) Beechwood - IMO, the Tigers have played up to expectations thus far and maybe even slightly better...

    2) Raceland - A high-octane team that plays solid defense, too. The Ashland win looks better now than earlier thought...

    3) Hazard - Played a very solid Green Co team to the wire. Can't take too many points away for that. Has been impressive otherwise and alot of returning players from a very good 07 team...

    4) LCA - Offensively, they've been as good as anyone, but, they've got to shore up the defense to move higher...

    5) Frankfort - Even with alot of quality losses from last years squad, have been winning impressively and still possess alot of team speed that'll give there opponents fits...

    6) Mayfield - Hasn't played up to potential yet, but, still has the talent and speed to stay ahead of the rest of the field. Look for better things in Cardinal country these next few weeks...

    7) Holy Cross - Clearly D2s top team and seem to be improving each week...

    8) Bellevue - One of the best RB tandems in 1a. If can get just a semblence of a passing game to open up the defense, have potential to be higher...

    9) Campbellsville - Talent wise, they should be higher, but, still wouldn't fall out of Top 10, despite a couple of less than stellar performances...

    10) Williamsburg - Played Frankfort tough and has a solid passing game capable of putting up alot of points...

That's how I see it, what say you....

  3. Danville does have the advantage with the win over SW. I'm the type that think polls are junk regardless when it comes down to it because nobody can really see every team place. Also I don't buy into the team A beat Team B but Team C beat team B so team C would beat team A stuff. If polls do ever have any validity, it will not truly shape up until about week 6 in my opinion.

I agree, but I think its fun to compare based on performance ytd...It'll likely shake out differently each week and by week 6 or 7, you'll have a lot better idea of who is and isn't deservant...:thumb:

  4. Yontae Williams ran the opening kick back 80 yards for a score. He also had three picks in the game, including one he ran back deep into Hoptown territory. Owensboro went up 14-0 but Hoptown cut it to 17-14 with 9:00 left before Oboro scored to seal it. Shemwell rushed for 107 yards but the Devil offense is very vanilla. No passing game at all. Williams also did a good job of shutting down Moulden on the deep route.

Sounds alot like last year with the Devils...Tough defensively, but, average offensively, which is sorta evident with some early season low scoring games. This one they scored a few more, but, sounds like the D was responsible for several of those..

  5. I know I am a Corbin fan but I would probably but Corbin at 5 and Danville at 6 or 7. I got to watch both teams this year and just wasn't impressed with Danville compared to years past. They had a lot of speed but didn't seem to be able to hold blocks on the OL.

You may be right, but I'd say to date, Danvilles win over Southwestern is of more quality than Corbins win over Knox Central and with the way Pikeville got blasted by Ashland, that win isn't quite as good as may have earlier been thought...Oct 3 vs LCA would be a good test and will give a better idea of where they're at...

  6. Let's hear how everyone thinks the 2a Top 10 shakes out this week. To me, there's as many as 14 or 15 teams that could crack the rankings, but, here's how I see it thus far:

    1) Ft Campbell - To me, clearly the most impressive thus far. Solid on both sides of the ball and special teams have been good. Only negative thus far, is a few to many penalties...

    2) NCC - Even with a loss to a solid Cov Cath team they could have easily won, redeemed themselves with a win over a quality 6a opponent this week...

    3) Green Co - Quality win in week 1 over a very tough Hazard team and they have some real speed at the skill positions and are a very experienced squad...

    4) Prestonsburg - Last weeks win over Breathitt really opened some eyes & may be better than people thought coming in to the year...

    5) Danville - Yeah, they took it on the chin pretty bad this week, but, you can't discard the prior weeks performances and even though will likely drop this week, are still a dangerous team...

    6) Monroe Co - Winning big each week against some pretty decent teams and playing with alot of confidence...

    7) Corbin - Another typical hard-nosed Red Hound squad. Probably not quite as talented as last years team, but, still a formidable team...

    8) OBoro Catholic - Although the record isn't that impressive, the 2 In teams they've played are solid teams and a close loss to a very good Owensboro team tells me they'll be dangerous come district time...

    9) Bardstown - Throw the record out here. The Tigers have been more than competitive against some of the better big schools and could just as easily been 2-1. Not a team you'll want to overlook come district time...

    10) Middlesboro - Took it on the chin in week 1 to a much improved Whitley team, but, have redeemed themselves the last 2 weeks, only allowing 10 total points combined in the 2 vs decent competition...

    What say you...

  7. Regardless of how far it is for anyone, it needs to be as centrally located as possible and BGreen is just as centrally located as Louisville is...I know from Paducah, it takes 3 1/2 hours to get to Louisville and about 2 1/2 to get to BGreen, so, the distance isn't that big a factor either way...Truthfully, Etown is probably the most central point within the state, but, for places that could handle the event, BG and LVille are basically the same...

  8. I still like the rotating system...Hold it at Western 1 year, Eastern 1 year, Commonwealth 1 yr and Papa Johns 1 year...Then noone has a complaint about the distance...I know in Tn, they changed the venue from Nashville to Murphreesboro a few yrs back and from speaking to some people familiar with it, they seem to think it was great move and it was doing even better at the smaller venue in terms of being a bigger deal and attendance has actually been just as good and even better in some years...

  9. In Joe's defense, it's alot harder job today trying to keep kids in line. It seems there is less and less parenting. Nevertheless, we have got to get ahold of these kids or a cancer will take hold. Some of the antics last night should not be tolerated period!

Anyway we still got what we had to have and that is a W. Does this rate as the greatest comeback ever? It's up there but the eary 80"s comeback over Ft. Campbell and the state title over Pburg rank as better ones for me but this was a good one. After getting past being mad that this was BM I really have to say it was a amazing rally

The difference in those 2 games, is they were against very, very good teams. Ballard is far from that, but, you're right, the W is all that matters and I do think this is a wakeup call, not only to the players, but, coaches, too... You can't convince me the coaching staff took this game any more serious than the players did, so, who's really to blame... You can't really expect the kids to prepare properly if the staff isn't doing the same...Throw in the fact that this game's sandwiched between the Ft Campbell and Graves game and you can kinda understand the trap game theory, but, still... Hopefully, you'll see 4 full qtrs of intensity next week cause they'll need it... It'll be interesting to see how they'll respond...

  10. Every bit the result I expected. John Hardin scored 43 seconds or so into the game, scored against two minutes later, and then tacked another one on towards the end of the first quarter. After that everything slowed down, with the scoring being 21-7 over the next two quarters, but John Hardin was never in any danger whatsoever.

How would J.Hardin compare to the other 2 teams WCentral's played?
