  1. The 5th region could be thrown in this topic as well, I may have missed it but I don't think it has been mentioned.

    North Hardin,John Hardin,Elizabethtown,Caverna,Bardstown..ETC

D-I Players to come out of the 5th the last few years:

    Stallworth/John Hardin-Moredhead State

Pettigrew/ETown-Being recruited by UK among Others, will play D-I.

The Exchange student who played at Caverna went to WKU.

    Guions/North Hardin-NC A&T

Bridgewaters(I think was his name, from Adair County who led the state in scoring)-WKU

Just a few I could think of off the bat, Woodson, UK's QB could have played D-I basketball if he had choosen to also.

I wouldn't say that they are the best region in the state but you could make an argument for them as one of the elight..they are consistantly tough each year.

  2. The Lee kid had a brother who was a stud a few years ago at Scott County, 03' think. He was around 6'11..He could have been really good had he gotten in shape but he seemed to be a little on the Lazy side. I think he was at Berea the last time I heard. Scott County has some good underclassmen as well as eveyone else in the 11th. Probabily mor Individual talent in the 11th than in the other 15 regions throughout the state. Mack,Walls,Macky,Morris, and Boyd could all play D-I IMO. Lots of great athetes and and all-around basketball players in this region.

  3. Wow, Thats a tough but good question..I'd say there both pretty equal and both have some of the top teams in the state and country participating every year, if I had to pick one I'd say the King of the Bluegrass but thats just me, but it seems to me like the King of the Bluegrass is more talked about statewide although the 5/3rd seems to be much stronger this year, both get alot of media attention and theres alot of college scouts that attend both. But both are two great tournaments. The Marshall Co. Hoop fest, The Louisville Inv. and the Paintsville Hoops classic are three other popular tournamets throughout the state also.

    5/3rd teams this season include:

Lexington Catholic, St. X, Bourbon County, Male, June Buchanon, Mason Co., Simon Kenton, Holmes, Johnson Central, Lincoln County, Henry Clay, Clinton Co., Russell and Pendleton County...I'm not sure about the out of state teams.

    KOB teams this season include:

Hancock Co., Male, Franklin County, Rose Hill Academy, Meade County, Elizabethtown, and Central Hardin...not sure about the out of state teams.

Not to get off subject but here are the teams participating in the other three tournaments I mentioned and IMO you can make a case for one of these being one of the top tournaments in the state also.

    LIT:

Male, Jeffersontown, Manual, Warren Central, Caldwell County, and Elizabethtown

    Paintsville Hoops Classic:

In State-Paintsville, Russellville, North Hardin Louisville Moore, UHA, Prestonsburg, East Carter, and Bullitt East

    Out of State-Brewbaker(AL), Gaston Day(NC), Woodward(Ohio), Alcoa(TN), and St. Francis(WI)

    Marshall County Hoopfest:

In State-Lexington Catholic, Heath, UHA, Trigg County, Marshall County, Paducah Tlighman, and Graves County

    Out of State-ShelbyVille(TN) and Vienna(IL)

  4. I know Henry Clay plays Paintsville for there first game and I would like to see all of the hype about there two young players.

Are there any other early season game with any intrest we should know about?

Paintsville got a transfer from Flordia, Van Fergason, who is supposed to be the best athlete in the region, I've never seen him play but I've heard about him. Landon Slone is the real deal, it'll be interesing to see how he does against a team like Henry Clay who is as talented individually as any team in the state besides maybe Scott County. Should be a good game.

  5. Allen Central had Jeremy Hall and another good player that slipped my mind

The other player that your thinking of is Probabily Thomas Jenkins. He went on to play at Morehead State and then transfered to Pikeville College to finish his career. He had a great career up at Allen Central. If I remember correctly wasn't Magoffin as big as Paintsville height wise when Paintsville was starting a 6'2", 6'1", 6'6", 6'8" 6'9" Lineup. I remember "Big Country" James Howard was like 6'10 and had he some Battles with VanHoose down low, and it seems like they had a kid who was about 6'6" who played for them as well.

  6. We haven't disagreed on too many things besides that whole Landon Donovan thing. I agree with you that he is a great player and definately the best in the 15th region. I just don't know if he's top 5 in the state when you consider the Lexington and Louisville areas.

The Paintsville or Magoffin County teams of 95 and 96 would have thumped the region's best during this next season. Also, that is when Elkhorn City had Todd Conley and Marin Mindolovich, Shelby Valley had Matt Baker and the Damron boy, Allen Central had Jeremy Hall and another good player that slipped my mind, Prestonsburg was tough, Belfry was tough, Pike Central had the kid that scored 50 points a couple of times, Johnson Central had Salisbury, and on and on. There were also some great 15th region teams from Shelby Valley and Paintsville between 97-2000, as well.

Your right we really haven't disagreed on a whole lot now that I think about it. I still respect your opinion on those things though.:thumb:

I think when those seniors in the region in 2003 graduated the Individual talent level started going down and has went down every year since then. Prior to that the talent really didn't a whole lot from year to year. In the mid to late 90's the top teams in the 15th could have played with about anyone in the state, and really they did..Some of those Paintsville teams you mentioned actually knocked off some top rated teams in the country. They had some big talented teams back in the day.

  7. Thanks for throwing that cheap shot in there at the end. I actually played 6 seasons in the 15th region and I'll go an record to say that the good 15th region teams from the mid- to late-90's would beat all of this seasons teams by more than 10. Also, I would say that the 16th's top teams would beat the 15th's top teams this season, as well. I hope that some of them actually play to see which of us is right.

We tend not to agree on alot of things wireman, but I do agree the 15th is extremly weak this season and seems to be getting weaker, it has droped alot in the last 3-4 years. The part in Bold I agree with also, I don't think there is any doubt about it.

  8. 15th region top players:

    1. Landon Slone - JR

    2. Jamie McCarty - SR

    3. JD VanHoose - JR

    4. Jamie Case - SR

    5. Ethan Johnson - SR

    6. Devin Rice - SR

    7. Shane Grimm - Jr.

    8. Daniel Pugh - Sr.

    9. Trai Witt - Sr.

    10. Tim Honaker - Jr.

thanks alot man, you ever need any thing let me know.:thumb:
