    2nd: University Heights

    3rd: Meade Co.

    4th: Warren Central

    5th: E-Town

    6th: Doss

    7th: Male

    8th: Shelby Co.

    9th: Holmes

    12th: McCreary Central

    13th: South Laurel

    14th: Hazard

    15th: Paintsville

    16th: Ashland

    State Tourney Predictions:

    1. Scott Co

    2. University Heights

    3. Mason Co.

    4. Doss

    5. South Laurel

I agree with your picks, but in the 14th I'll go with Lee Co. and I'll go with JTown once again in the 7th. I'm not sure yet about the 16th some times I think Ashland and others I think Russell but I'm still undecided about that region. The rest looks good to me.:thumb:

  2. Sophomores

    J. Crawford - Corbin

    Smith - Corbin

    L. Crawford - Corbin

    Zachary - Bell Co.

Williamsburg has a guard(forget his name)who is a very good shooter.

South Laurel has a transfer(don't know his name)who is suppose to be good.

    Freshman

    Watts - McCreary

    Miller - Knox Central

    Johnson - Corbin

    Whitaker - Bell Co.

    Manns - Corbin

    Lebanion- Whitley Co.

Gilbert - played at North Laurel last year, but I believe is at South this year.

    Wilson - Corbin

    I like this mans list.:thumb:
  3. No Scotty Hopson and no Bud Mackey. Hopson has 10+ D1 offers to major programs and Mackey has verballed to IU does.

After sendind out a few emails and getting responses and making a couple of calls to see how the selection process worked, I learned that the list outside of a couple of names is basically "who you know" kinda thing, but I do know a couple of the names do legitimately belong on the list.

Nearly all of the players came from the main two (2) AAU team/programs in Kentucky. Does anyone know the names of the coaches of these teams and players?

If Hopson isn't on the list that should tell everyone something right there. I think he's the best player in the state as a Junior. Nice job doing reserch and finding informatin OYPreps, some good stuff man.:thumb:

  4. It does not matter if you have seen Hopson or not. Most people on the boards have not seen him. Most don't even know that he was a part-time starter last year and averaged 12 points and 6 boards per game. I know that some stories have him at 14 points, but according to the info I got from a scout and recruiter it was 12 points per game. Not once did I see anyone on BGP mention Hopson until this past summer. Now he is writing his own ticket.

Jeff Brooks is another one. Brooks was very seledom mentioned last year in the top 40 even. Now he is flying out every weekend and meeting D1 coaches at the major programs. He averaged just over double figures at 11 points per game.

According to the scouting services I talk to regularly there are some underclassman making their names known that no one is mentioning on these post, but next year you will be jumping the bandwagon claiming to know Kentucky's talent after the kids have starting getting offers and consideration from D1 or D2 colleges.

I don't claim to know it all and I don't, but as far as I can tell most of the rankings is are just people following a loss-leader. It's interesting enough to sit back and watch some of the players get mention and never see the hardwood after they graduate, while other kids never whispered about find themselves getting a free-ride and in some cases playing in front of 15,000+ in college. Interesting stuff don't you think?

And one more point, you don't have to average 20 points per game to sign for the big boys. Take a look at UL and UK's roster. I am curious how many of those averaged 20 plus their senior years out of high school. I think it will surprise some.

Nice post, definitley some interesting stuff.

  5. Nice reply East Bank. It is nice to see some substance in a post. Did Spillman ever get qualified for UL's football team? Or did he go juco?

Well I'm not sure it seems like he was playing on the UofL football team the last I remember so yeah I do believe he qualified, but I'm not positive about that..I believe Jazz Neal had a scholarship offer to Valparaiso a D-I program in Indiana but didn't qualify so I think he ended up at a Junior College in Illionois, the name excapes me though. Not sure if he is even still playing though..He was an unbelievable guard also I saw him a few times in the Sweet 16.

  6. Strike3...Just a few general questions...

Matt Morgan is now back in Virginia or Maryland his home state, not in Kentucky.

Is Wade even the best senior on his high school team?

Is Ballou even the top player on Adair's team?

Haddix is already in Vegas (as already mentioned in this thread).

Why is Austin Hill not listed?

Andre Miller is better than Matt Walls?

Why is a player like Jaron Jones who shot nearly less than 30% from the field listed? I saw him play two games where he went 1 for 12 and another where he went 2 for 11.

BGP has a lot of 16th Region posters that has explained Vanhoose's game quite a few times, what part of Vanhoose's game made you leave him off your list? He is signed for Evansville at the D1 level.

What is the reason for Jeremy Anderson being left off?

    East-Bank...

Just a quick question...who was the last great guard for PRP?

I don't mind ansering your question at all OYPreps.

I can name a few in the last few years:

JaJuan Spillman, Jazz Neal, Maurice Blakey, Carlos Williams, and recently Adam Decker...just to name a few..And when I say great I'm no speaking as if they are legendary, just that they are great in the PRP System.

I'd say Spillman was the best though.

  7. The guard from PRP is Adam Decker. Also, Ballou from Adair County is a sophomore, and Doss star Jeff Brooks is a senior and probably in the top 1 or 2 in terms of potential.

    Good list though :thumb:

Bolus had Brooks rated #1 I belive. I think he only had him rated that based on potential like you said. I think he only averaged around 9ppg last season, but has alot of upside. He's for sure a D-I prospect..Speaking of PRP, it seemsd like they always produce great guards for as long as I can remember.

The Player who I believe is overlooked the most is Keith Price from Casey County. He's around 6'9 and seems to be under the Radar but could very well be the top prospect in Kentucky in the senior class.. He is just as good if not better than Brooks or Wade but is less focused on than those guys because of his team. Speking of potential he's probabily one of the top 3 big men in kentucky IMO, he just seems to be very underrated. He probabily isnt as athletic as these guys but stronger. But he's not a bad athlete and pretty good fundamentally. I think Ballou could be Great and could grow even larger, if he develops he could be one of the best player to come out of Kentucky in Quiet some time.

  8. Heres My Top 10:Sorry if I left anyone out.

    1.Scotty Hopson-UHA

    2.Darius Miller-Mason County

    3.Steffphon Pettigrew-ETown

    4.Bud Mackey-Scott County

    5.Jon VanHoose-Russell

    6.Ty Proffitt-South Laurel

    7.Landon Slone-Paintsville

    8.Shelvin Mack-Bryan Station

    9.Matt Walls-Scott County

    10.Thomas Coleman-Jeffersontown

    Sleepers:

    Wade-Shelby County,Anderson-Warren Central,Price-Casey County,Brooks-Doss,Beckman-Ballard,Ballou-Adair County,Hill & Jefferson-Holmes and Mayo-Russellville.

  9. You see different Ratings throughout the pre-season and no one ever seems to agree. Here's your chance to post your top ten players in the state..You can base it on Potential, statistics, ability, size, or whatever. I know alot of you have alot of Knowledge of players throughout the state by reading some of your post. Instead of "bashing" some ones opinion on this thread just post your own list. I look foward to reading these, should be really interesting. I'll post my list later after doing a little thinking and some research.

  10. Allen Central has participated in the postseason once:

1995, Class AA- Lloyd Memorial 55, Allen Central 14

Jenkins has participated in the postseason four times:

1963, Class AA- Tied Cumberland 7-7, but the Redskins advanced on possessions

    1982, Class A- Paintsville 28, Jenkins 8

    1993, Class A- Lynn Camp 35, Jenkins 6

    1994, Class A- Cumberland 33, Jenkins 0

    Nice info. gchs_uk9 ,Interesting, I appreciate that.:thumb:

  11. I'm actually suprised this isn't already a thread, not because of the teams, obviously, but because of whats at stake.

I'm not a fan of eighter team but this could be a big building block for both teams in building respectable football programs. Allen Central is known as a "basketball school" and for them to make it to the playoffs would be huge for their football program who really hasn't been shown much respect throughout easten kentucky for as long as I can remember(myself included), and Jenkins really isn't known as an athletic school so it would also be big for them as in their athlectic programs as a whole. They are pretty much the same as Allen Central in every aspect.Jenkins has not made the Playoffs in 12 years. As for AC it is uncertain if they have ever made the playoffs as far as I know. In all actuallity which ever team makes it would be hammerd in the 1st round, but the fact is that one of these teams will be in the playoffs, something these players and football alumni from these two squads can say for the 1st time in a LONG time. Should be a great game between these two Class A schools.

Anyone have any comments or predictions??

Allen Central is 3-5 on the season and Jenkins is 2-6.

  12. I'm not sure about the best part but this has to be one of the oldest gyms still in us..It is Riverside Christian home Gym...It has a big Christmas tree in it(or used to) and will probabily seat 50 people..JMO..the rims there are more like 9 1/2 ft instead of ten. It is something you have to see if you've never seen it, go to a Riverside home game and see for yourself its a sight, makes for some good basketball though..and its in the middle of nowhere, Lost Creek I think is what they call it..some really Nice people their though.

  13. I'd have to say the 4th region.

    Heres 8 reasons why:

Anderson-Warren Central..ARGUABLY the top guard or one of top guards in the state, can do it all.

Mayo-Russelville...One of the best Athletes and a Sleeper player in the state

Britt-Warren Central...Could start on any teamin the state and could be the #1 option on most teams.

    Stone & Graves-AC Scottsville...Quiet possibly a top 5 state wide.

Dalcourt-Franklin Simpson...one of the better PG's in western KY.

Savage-Bowling Green...one of the more underrated guard in the 4th, I think he will be back.

Vittatoe-Clinton..One of the biggest guard in the region at 6'5 and on of the best athletes.

  14. I know alot of people will disagree with me but I believe Keith Price from Casey County is a legit D-I prospect, mainly because of his size but I see alot of upside to him. He's about 6'8 or 6'9, if he gets stronger and develops a little more athleticism he could be a force..Does anyone know what schools are looking at him?

  15. JMO on this but this is how I see it, it'll probabily change once the season gets underway though.

    1.Paintsville

    2.Johnson Central

    3.Shelby Valley

    4.Belfry

    5.Pikeville

    6.Pike Central

    7.Phelps

    8.Betsy Layne

    9.East Ridge

    10.South Floyd

    11.Prestonsburg

    12.Magoffin County

    13.Lawrence County

    14.Allen Central

    15.Sheldon Clark

    16.Piarist

    17.David
