Why is he staying? With his resume, he has no reason to put up with all of the crap he is getting at Hazard. I mean, if it is bad now, image what happens if he really had a down year. Hazard is a small school, and usually has the typical small school cycles. Some years they are up, some they are down. Coach Spurlock has kept Hazard on a nice high for four consecutive years. If I was him, I would leave while the getting is good. I am surprised he stayed after last season. I thought that the Letcher job was his if he wanted, but he turned it down. They had more talent than Hazard this season IMO.
I agree.

I'll show Brent Rose-Betsy Layne some love on here to, he won the 58th district, and was just a few points away from a regional Championship game.
He proved to be one of the top coaches in that area.

Coach Wright at South Laurel is another dandy coach
Coach Spurlock at Hazard is a good one as well

Looks pretty good, you'll have some players cut that you wouldn't expect to be, and they'll be some players make the team that you wouldn't expect, But alot of players make it on names just alone. It happens every year. But thats a solid list of talent.

Having talent is great, but teamwork wins championships. In West Virginia a high school team had Randy Moss (Marshall / NFL), Jason Williams (UF / NBA) and Bobby Howard (Notre Dame / NFL) on the same team and couldn't win a title. 3 D1 athletes and no title.
It seems that more teams are playing better defense right now then in years past.
That is very true.

02-03???
Who was so talented in that group?????
Personally I thought it was, You had Michael Hall at SF, arguably one of the top guards to ever come from the 15th as well as Tyler Hall. You had a Paintsville(Rice,Jarrell,Rutledge,Simpkins) team that nocked Rose Hill off, which was a top 10 team in the state.I think Johnson Centrall was a top 25 team in KY at one point(Wheeler,Hurt,). Shelby Valley was Solid that year also(Fleming,Akers,Friend and Kiser). Allen Central was solid talent wise(Slone,Allen, and they had a 6'10 kid as well). Prestonsburg had some unbelievable athletes as well. I mean it is debatable but personally I believe the talent level has gone down, There were alot of seniors that season if I remember correctly, But I have till watched HS basketball for years and I mean as a fan observing I just think it has...It's debatable though:thumb: .
But I do believe when the group of Sophmores from this season are seniors that the 15th will be up alot, as well as the rest of the state. I think that could potentially be one of the better graduating classes in a long time.

congrats guys.:thumb:

I personally want Walt Allen to be Mr. Basketball but AJ Slaughter is the best player in the state. Also Why isn't Maze Stallworth getting mentioned I thought he was one of the favorites, His team get get to Rupp.

Throughout the state maybe.
But in the 15th region it has gone down hill quick. When those seniors from 02'-03' graduated they took alot of talent with them. That was probabily the most Individual talent that our reagion had had since the late 90's(JR Vanhoose,Todd Tackett,Thomas Jenkins...etc).And every year since then it has gotten worse IMO.

Wow thats a big thing for Miller and the town of Middlesboro...Congrats to him and his Family.
