  1. This is the first time that the Raceland schedule has had several changes in quite a while. 1A EKY Power Pikeville has been added as well as Betsy Lane has been added to the district with 4A Rowan as a new EKC contest. Our game with Russell is moved to early season and the Rams open up w / Greenup Co. while the Ashland game flipped to closer to mid season, where GC used to be.

As always with the Rams. this is an extremely tough road for what will be imo a team not as strong as in the past several years. Raceland has been blessed w / several strong classes coming through in consecutive years. The cupboard will not be bare by any stretch, just not as deep as in the past 4-8 yrs.

I'm looking forward to next season but hey, this is Raceland.

  3. Like Cal said about Baker, I had honestly forgot to post after this game.

I liked the fact that they came out in this game vs. a team that they should beat … and took care of business, put Utah away w/o letting them stay in the game for 30 min. until they took over, put a team away. Johnson imo has established himself as the "go to guy" when a play, shot is needed. Washington didn't have that great of a game but he imo is another leader for this U.K. team.

Time to get ready for UNC on Sat. and non stop practice going into the new year. And, oh yea, that team by the river approx. 70mi. west of Lexington.

  4. I haven't seen any of Utah's games this season. I looked at their schedule, they are 4-4 and I didn't see any really good teams that they've played so far. With not knowing much other than a couple of posters have said that Utah is bad ….. I'll keep it conservative and say U.K. by 6.

  5. I only saw a couple of times where U.K. defended the three, or even attempted to. Herro can't hit a bull in the butt with a bass fiddle when it matters, he doesn't get his feet set / takes unbalanced, hurried shots. SHU hit the big shots when it mattered, you have to give them credit for that. I thought that Washington really stepped up today, especially down the stretch in the 2nd half.

    K. Willard imo is one of the better, most underrated coaches anywhere. WHY Cal will not take a t/o on a critical last possession, I will never understand :ohbrother:. That's been his thinking on that situation throughout his career and before at U.K., he imo lost a national championship game w/ Memphis by not calling one, setting something up for a last shot.

On to practice, get better and get ready for Utah next Sat..

  6. Day says he will put more of an emphasis on Ohio recruits.

I think that Coach Day will do an excellent job. There was a lot of interest / praise for him around the country as being the best of the potential hires for a head coach. Miss. State had offered him their head coaching position and I had heard that Colorado St. was also after him, not sure on that one.

  7. btw … I purposely didn't read a lot of the other post on this thread now. I didn't want to belittle my post by responding to any of the usual cheap shots taken bc there are those who "in their words" haters of OSU bc of the OSU fans here on bgp.

And to any that have mocked / doubted Meyer's health problems …. take it from someone that has a neurological disease (M.S.) … that at the onset / symptoms of a Neuro. problem, nothing different is known by looking at someone. Problems in the brain, nerve system are not outwardly seen until / if the condition worsens. I know that for myself, I had co workers, others saying that I was "faking" "wanting time off", etc. when I would complain of pain. When I went from "limping" walk, to a cane, to a walker and then / now to a wheelchair unable to walk at all or even stand up …. was then when I had everyone acknowledge that I had been sick for a long time. IMO it's those people who are pitiful, the real disabled.

Also, I don't know if Meyer will return to coaching sometime in the future or not. Meyer isn't an "old" man and if his heath gets to where he thinks that he can then i'll wish him the best.

  8. This news didn't surprise me at all. I think that all OSU fans could see the toll of the headaches, pain and balance issues connected to the syst on his brain were coming back and more often. I'm sure that this entire season had worn on Urban. I, along with other fans thought that this announcement was coming. I hate to see him go but when it's all said and done, a man has to take care of himself, his health and his family. Faith, Family … those are the most important things in anyone's life, or at least imo they should be.

I wish Urban Meyer, his wife, children and entire family nothing but the best.

Meyer, imo is a should be known as one of the two or three best, most influential ncaa football coaches of this era and named on the list of all time great coaches ever.

  9. I said "huge blowout" earlier in this thread but I now am thinking that it could possibly be closer. One problem with Bama that's been consistent is that the only teams that have given them trouble are the teams with an athletic / mobile QB. That's certainly Oklahoma. Bama should score at will, early and often against the terrible Sooner D. I don't think that OU will win but they may score more than others that have faced Bama due to the QB. We'll see, I sill am going with the Tide and Saban with 3 + weeks to prepare.

  10. Being an Ohio State fan is part of who I am. Maybe my fandom is a bigger part of my life than your fandom is but don’t try and tell me what kind of fan I should be.
I agree with your last sentence. There's a few here that will do that. I have caught flak for being a OSU football fan along with a die hard U.K. basketball fan as well as all U.K. Sports / teams. That's just me, the way I roll, lol. I graduated h.s. in the mid 70''s, Loved Woody Hayes & watching Archie Griffin / OSU and their style of football and have been a fan since that time. I've always been a die hard U.K. basketball, football along with all things U.K.. I don't see a problem but some can't understand that. :lol2:.

Notre Dame isn’t joining a conference, especially now. If they can get in the playoff without being in a conference, they gain nothing from joining one. They get the revenue from the NBC deal, so they don’t need that either. The only way they join is if the CFP makes it a requirement to be in a conference, which they won’t do.

I agree 100 %, ND is not going anywhere as far as conference until they have / are forced to and it doesn't look like that will happen.

My take on it all because I know how much you all care:)

As an OSU fan, I would have been happy for OSU if they got in over Oklahoma but cannot complain as OSU should have taken care of business against Purdue, Nebraska and Maryland and frankly did not. I think OSU would have had a better chance of beating Alabama than Oklahoma because I think OSU's ceiling is higher than anybody's in country except Alabama...but again, Oklahoma did not lay the biggest egg ever against Purdue.

Finally, I really hope we never get to the point where a 2 loss non conference champ gets in would have been really unfair to Alabama if Georgia was put in at 4 so basically Bama had to eat Georgia two straight times to move on.

Agreed on the OSU comments, analogy and on your UGA / 2 loss team before a 1 loss . My only point for UGA in is that one thing that they said that this playoff system would do is put the 4 best teams in the playoff …. I just think that UGA is one of the top 4 teams in the country. Just when we think that we know what the commite wants …. they change or add something else. :idunno: :lol2:

  11. I feel like if you want Georgia in we have to think about WSU and Michigan too. LSU was not a great team and woodsheded Georgia. UGA gets a jump on Bama playing poorly and can’t finish the game. They have no business playing in playoff. I could understand if they had one loss or won their conference but they accomplished neither.

Those are some good points. What imo going to happen at every season's end / naming the final four, the only absolute certain is this …. that there will be arguments for and against one team or another.

  12. Truthfully, I know the reason was two losses but the team (if I am anyone in the p/o) that I Don't want to play is Georgia. I can about promise that all, including Bama are having a sigh of relief that they're not going to play UGA. No way that Georgia is not one of the top 4 teams in America. Just say'n ….

  13. Since the official pairings are out, in jmo …. Ohio State is better than OK.. They mirror each other in some ways but I think that OSU's defense is better than the Sooners. That's not a major statement seeing how bad OU is defensively. Buckeyes D isn't world beaters by any imagination but OU's is a fish net.

  14. If we had a 16 team playoff, it would take care of itself. Teams like ND would be in with a good season.

Agreed … on a 16 team p/o that ND would be in. I'm one that's not in favor of a 16 team p/o. 8 at the most but really the 4 is o.k. w / me. I think that no matter how many teams are in, there's always going to be that argument over why not this one ...that one, they don't deserve in, etc., etc. . Could go on and on.
