  1. I don't know if I have ever seen this many big games in the first round of regional play:

9th Boone Co. vs. Notre Dame

10th Clark Co. vs. Mason Co.

11th Lex. Cath vs. Scott Co.

    16th Rowan Co. vs. Russell

This is already amazing and we haven't even seen all of the regional pairings yet.

  2. It is now looking even worse for Lex. Cath after losing the district championship. They will have to travel to Scott Co. for the first round of the tournament. They definately have the talent to win that region again, the loss to LCA will either fire them up or put doubt in the back of their mind. Time will tell.

  3. The bottom bracket will definately have some good games leading up to the finals. I think that Harrison will play Montgomery Co. tough in the semi's but I think Montgomery will be too much in the end for the Lady Breds. I was at the draw this morning and it seemed as if the coaches from Mason Co. and GRC feared that the draw would end up the way it did.

  4. Montgomery Co. 61, Clark Co. 38

40th District Finals at Bourbon Co.

    Clark Co. (17-10) -- P.Rogers 5, J.Rogers 5, Montgomery 8, Cates 6, McCaffery 12, Wallace 2.

    Montgomery Co. (26-5) -- Lee 8, M.Prewitt 24, High 9, Davis 4, Barnard 3, Thomas 10, Webb 1, Colliver 2.

    Clark Co. 10 9 14 5--38

    Montgomery Co. 20 12 13 16--61

  5. Draw Prediction:

    Top Bracket

    West Carter vs Ashland

    Raceland vs Fleming

    Bottom Bracket

    Rose Hill vs Russell

    Rowan Co vs East Carter

Official draw won't be held until Saturday morning at MSU, but thought it would fun to speculate.

This matchup would make virtually every game a good one from the opening round to the championship.

  6. Upset became the only horse to defeat Man of War in a 1919 race. But then, Man of War wasn't even at the starting line when the race started. It was widely believed that this was where this use of the word "upset" came from until 2002 when a study of the NY Times database found that usage in post-civil war times. It's still a cool story. The odds on Upset were a 100-1. That's what I call a true upset! :D

I have never really thought about the origin of that phrase. Interesting story!!!:thumb:

  7. At the start of the season the Lady Rams had set 3 main goals:

    1. A class A 16th Region Championship = chk.

    2. A 63rd District Championship = chk.

    3. A 16th Region overall Championship

2 down and one to go!!!!

If Rowan Co., Russel, and Rose Hill draw into the same bracket this is very possible. With that kind of draw whom ever comes out of that bracket will be beaten up and worn out by the time they get to the championship. Should be an exciting 16th region girls basketball tournament at the AAC in Morehead. Congrats and good luck Lady Rams.:thumb:

  8. As far as the Sweet 16 goes I don't see any justifiable way of seeding the tournament. Regional tournies take care of themselves with all the winners drawing losers. The district tournaments should be the same across the state. I don't believe that one district should seed while another blindly draws. I am all for seeding district competition, all though there isn't as much drama, it does give the best teams in the region the best chance of advancing.

  9. There is a team in our region that the girls are instructed that when the ref is standing on the side line to inbounds the ball always go out there, even if you know it is the other teams possession.

This has resulted in the ball going to their team numerous times if the ref is not paying attention, sometimes the fans and other coach get vocal enough that they will correct it. It is at the Middle School level so many times the refs are inexperienced and will not reverse the possesion.

So what are we exactly teaching our children...............

This sounds like coaches telling their best freethrow shooter to step to the foul line, in place of a not so good shooter, to shoot freethrows after a timeout or after walking the length of the floor. You would be amazed at the number of times this is pulled off and it is a whole lot less noticeable.
