  1. I completely agree! Like I said you have to have the players to win. How far back can you remeber a team winning the region because of coaching alone. You have to have the players. That is the point I was trying to make. Alot of coaches get credit for being great, but look at the players they have.
  2. I agree Holmes has a good staff. I think Highlands tried to schedule some tougher games this year. They got into some tourneys down state and tried to challenge themselves. They play the top teams in our area, and they play Brossart. I'm sure they knew they would have a nice team, but at the same time they had a tough year last year. When you make that schedule that has to be taken into consideration.
  3. I am sitting here looking at teams receiving votes, and I can't seem to figure why the Crusaders can't even get a sniff. There are numerous threads on here about who is the best coach and these teams will do this because of coaching. St. Henry ought to atleast get 5 votes because of coaching. Everyone keeps talking about the top 3 teams in our region and how coaching will prevail. The fact of the matter is if you don't have the horses you can't get it done. The Crusaders are a perfect example of that. If they get out of the 33rd all they need to do is win 3 games. I don't think they will, but they are arguably under the highest quality of leadership in the region, and I wouldn't want to play them.
  4. THe 9th Region Freshman Tourney is always a pretty exciting event. A lot of quality basketball during this time. I encourage everyone to get out and check out the action!
  5. I agree with you that they are not exactly burying people, but the contenders that find a way. They win the games they are suppose to win handely, and pull out the ones that are close. That is what seperates the top 3 from the rest. Speaking of Boone, with their middle school program in 2 years they will be serious 9th region contenders!!!
  6. When I made that statement it was a generalization. There are those kids that still go to the park and in ther Fort you are fortunate to have the armory ecspecially for this time of year. When I was younger I grew up in Erlanger and you couldn't get on the court at Silverlake and Maywood. Now kids just pick up the remote control to the PS2 and that is their workout :irked:  . Quite sad!! Like I said before the Birds could take the Region. If it comes down to the Birds and the Dawgs it could be one for the ages!
  7. I am a big advocate of quality versus quantity. When you get to the 8th grade level, that is a critical time to be able to continue working on fundamentals and working scheme into your practice. I realize that Ludlow doesn't exactly have 5 gymnasiums so it makes things difficult. My point being that with only 3 hours a week it is tough to get things done. Kids these days don't exactly leave practice and go shoot around for two hours either, which makes me
  8. I wish they would get on track aswell. When you only have 6 true varsity players, it makes the situation real tough. Barring kids quiting like this year  give the Juggernauts two years and they will be competitive!!! I will go with the Bluebirds!!!
  9. The time is now, because when your 8th grade boys only get 3 hours a week of gym time, the future doesn't look to promising!!
