Deaton was calling the plays not BW. He was in charge of the defense that gave up 359 points this season or 30 PPG. 468 points last season. Last season they only recorded 3 wins in 11 games. Two of those wins were over woeful Grant Co and Boone Co. Let that sink in. In all fairness though the Birds did improve this season a bunch. They won 6 games and probably should be 9-3 heading into next week's buzzaw.

Agree, the offensive play calling all year was god awful. It literally costs them games. They have a former HC on the sidelines in charge of videography for criminy sakes. Let that guy call the offense.

Birds return nice core of key players Looks like offensive line will be a major need for kids to fill. Offense- QB-Cramer, RB-Schwalbach, WR's- King, Roberts, G-T.Johnson. Defense- LB's- M. Schwalbach, Bowman, Huddleston DL- Sisson, Lewin, Downard, OLB's- Starkey, Delegrange, CB's- Armstrong, Brass, Safety- Ahlfeld Defense should be very experienced and much improved next year. Several Sophomores got key playing time. They probably could use a Beefy DL but they should be fast and athletic. The off-season weightlifting program should be interesting to see just how dedicated these Birds are and how hungry they will be to return to the top.

Especially when they were getting chunked in the 2nd half.

I am curious if the Birds were prepared for that SO onside kick. The announcers on Pegasus were saying they didn't expect it as there was 4:30 left and plenty of time to not panic. It appeared only one Bird made a play on the ball and the rest were a yard back behind the 45.

Key mistakes in the game for Birds - going for 2 on first TD - INT thrown in endzone that wouldve put them up 2 TD's with great momentum - 2nd half defense - Inability to field onside kick - Unfortunate fumble on what seemed like a drive to go ahead. - Breakdown in line play at end forcing Cramer to scramble and throw 2 straight incompletions to end their hopes. Congrats to all of the Birds Seniors and their efforts. Kids like Michael Dunn, Joe Steiden, Griffin Huber, Nick Vennaman, Larry Wilson, Harrison Traylor, Jared Wogan all were model kids on the field to just name a few and wish them the best along with the rest.

Right and I am sure most of the fans who went to the game are cold and not in the mood to log onto BGP.

He has a great leg but if the line doesnt break down and require Cramer to scramble on those last two throws he maybe couldve gotten em closer for Bowman to come in and try to win it from maybe 40 instead of 50.

That was really sad to see...I feel really bad for Cooper on that play.

Or the fact that they play a prevent defense all night long.

The Bird DB's are 9 yards off the ball and accepting being blocked so basically its a 12 -15 yard cushion on the edge.

SO can still win this game.

Griffin Huber needs to keep his yapper quiet or he is going to cost his team, great kid and he knows better but he has been in a couple tiff's verbally tonight I noticed.

They are giving 8 yard cushion all night.

How about that athletic play by Grady Cramer? Straight out of the Beau Hoge playbook. Scramble and zing it down the field accurately. Great job by Vennaman to get himself open and not give up on his team. I think the answer has been made on who the QB will be next week if the Birds win this game.
