  1. Short and sweet answer: A time, I think 40 days before Easter. It is in recognition of the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert and was tempted. Matthew 4:1-11, it is recognized by fasting and praying. I don’t know the exact historical record of Lent, but I think it has something to do with Ash Wednesday.

  2. I am one of the "gentlemen in the corner" and I will say I am not making anything out of the gesture except for having fun with it. I'm not going to go so far to say it was a well called game, but I will say the calls or lack of did not affect the game.

I disagree on the shirt pulling though. I have seen every game RH has played this year. I am seeing defenses grabbing Euton and Jackson constantly and never seeing calls. When it happens away from the ball, maybe a no call is ok, but under the basket on every inbounds play should be called.

But it was an entertaining game, I had fun.

  3. I think this was a good game for Elliott. They got back on track shooting the ball better this game. Good luck to Elliott on Tuesday against Mason.

I just think it is funny that someone always needs to say something about Elliott County. Earlier in the year it was running up the score. This game was way more lopsided that the final score indicated. Elliott had their subs in early, which Raceland played their starters to cut it back to 29. So I guess no one can complain about Elliott running up the score.

Now it is Elliott's lack of sportsmanship. I don't want to hear anything about poor sportsmanship from the Elliott players or the crowd. When I played for Elliott back in the 90s the Raceland fans threw shoes on the court at us. I think you need to go back in history a little bit, before slinging mud about the Elliott fans.

It looks to me like "somebody" always needs to say something about Rose Hill, and Chad Jackson.

  4. A great crowd at this game tonight. It was mentioned earlier how the Fairview fans showed a lot of support for the Garnes family. This is very true of not only the fans of Fairview but of all the schools in the region. There is a lot of spirited competition between schools in this region; players, fans, coaches, media personalities, and even the referees all around the 16th have shown the Rose Hill community sympathy, compassion and support. I wish this season could go on forever.

  5. Elliott Co. did bea Raceland a few weeks ago on a neutral court, but that was when Elliott was undefeated in the region. Teams know now if they play well, Elliott Co is beatable. Jacob Sparks is as good of a player as there is in the region and Boyles isn't far behind him. If Raceland wins the battle on the boards and limits EC's second chances they have a chance. That being said EC will win by 12+.

  6. I'll go with Rose Hill by 8. I wonder if spindoc can move our seats from the endzone to center court so we can help keep Coach Cooksey within the coaching box. Hey Don, I hope you can make it. Look up the 3 fat guys, and the one skinny, neat looking fellow sitting in the folding chairs. You can't miss them, they'll be surrounded by food. We'd love to meet you.

Thanks for calling me neat looking, but I don't know about skinny.

This is Rose Hill's senior night. It is allways an emotional evening with a good crowd. It's going to be a good game.

  7. I think you need to read the sodomy laws before you post a remark. There is nothing wrong with Kentucky's law unless you believe it is legal to sodomize someone forcibly or commit sodomy to a child or the mentally handicapped. The fourth degree sodomy law, deviate sexual intercourse with a person of the same sex even with consent, was repealed a few years ago.

  8. Who will be the officials for this game? I would like to invite them to sit with spindoc, uncle jed, RickyP and myself during the JV game. We will buy them popcorn and a soft drink, with spindoc picking up the tab of course, in exchange for them teaching RickyP the rules.

I would have to question this move. Taking an already confused group of refs and putting them with this bunch for any length of time could only bewilder them further. But if that’s the plan, I’ll buy the popcorn.

  9. Just got back from Richmond. Hazard played a very good fourth quarter, congratulations. I am proud of all the kids from the Hill. They have nothing to be ashamed of.

As for Tony Arthur, on top of everything else he excels in, he is one of greatest kids it has been my privilege to know. Being the only senior on such a young team is difficult. But being the only senior, due to the situations that have occurred with this team, and still working hard, shows a lot about his character. He is a loyal friend to David and a true team player.

  10. This team is clicking at the right time. The early season criticism of RH was they are a two man team. They are showing now they are a very vertical team. They can slow the game down or run you in the ground whichever they choose. Different players are stepping up each game. Tonight Mike Davis was a beast. Tony Arthur played very tough defense. Chad and Dakota were Chad and Dakota.

Not to be argumentative, but the back of Murray’s shirt said “In loving memory of OB”. I only mention this out of respect for this individual and their family.
