After seeing what MANY teams Central played were able to do to their defense, this one is no shocker. I had said Central wouldn't make it, and the east will win the title.

I think PT owes a thank you to Western Hills and Henry County for giving Central a good pounding. They were pretty beat up going into this game. :isurrender:

Supposedly he is going to be signing with Marshall. I havent heard any recent updates on the offer but last I heard that is where Butler will play his college ball.

Whoever gets him will get a quality human being and fantastic football team-player.

No, it was pretty evident that the speed of Henry County didn't allow the edge to be given up to Hills, and Hills couldn't catch the QB. My point is you are knocking that Henry is too slow for central (while HC is no match on the track for Central), so what does that make Hills? I never said it was a blow out or a beating...but the overall team speed difference between the two was very much noticeable. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Back on topic. I think who ever tackles and blocks the best will be the winner. Is it really that easy? Football is a funny game.

I think WH has decent shot. Of course, they are underdogs, but that is how they like it.

I'm not really sure where you were going with your last graph, but I do think the record matters. I think most kids that are at the end of any season with a .000, .100,. or .200 winning percentage are pretty well ready to be finished. Suppose a coach in any sport would ask those kids to go play in one more tournament, but they'll have to play one of the best teams in the tournament right off the bat. Would you really expect a lot of enthusiasm after getting beat up for 10 weeks?

 

But I really have a hard time coming to grips with the bolded. It is a state playoff game, but you are basically conceding many teams will plan to and play their subs liberally. How can this be an argument FOR the current system?

These are kids, it is your job as a coach to tell them why they should fight to the end, in the face of adversity. That's the problem, people let kids make the decisions

What we have to say about that is win a couple of more regular season district games and make sure you aren't a #3 or #4 seed. Consider your regular season district games must wins, unlike they are now.

 

This system is truely awful. Too many teams in the playoffs. Too many really bad teams in the playoffs. Too many state champions.

So, 15 lower seeded teams won. That's about a 16 percent winning percentage clip for the lower seeded teams. Is it really worth all the blowouts to deal with a 16 percent chance of winning for the lower seeded schools?

Rex Chapman. I had the previledge of knowing him and his friend Greg Baughn at Apollo and I was very excited to see him play.

They need to upgrade the whole staff and head coach, because this team will not be a high caliber team until they get better play calling.

Be inside the practices and then you can say that. I know from coaching that the best play call is as good as the execution and last I checked coaches aren't out on the field. The players have to make plays. If they don't you coach them up until they can. But coaches can only do so much.

I admitted that I may have been a little over the top in sensing the negativity, but, when the lies started coming out - that changed everything.

WHen I read this I didn't sense the negativity. But, when reading anything it is easy to assume a certain tone with a writer, especially when their is a certain bias. I think there are a lot of people, for whatever reason, doesn't like Tiptons's writing and when he writes a new column, people draw a tone from his writing. I am not saying the negativity is never/always there, but when it is a shade of gray, the haters will pick it apart. JMO

Yet another shutout by Dennis Ledford's "D". I hope Henry can keep this rolling. Coach Engstrand has really turned it around in New Castle.

Engstrand has a knack of finding really good coaches, and keeping them around.
