  1. Made it to what I thought would be a good game, Henry County was awful in all phases first half, and Stayed awful on offense second half. North had a nice game plan it seemed. Congrats to North. I was rooting for the Wildcats but had a feeling this might end up the case.

HC's D was bad enough in the first quarter to dig a hole they couldn't get out of. They need to be a 1st half team or this game will be like groundhog day.

  2. Expertise ?? Humm. Easy from the cheap seats comes to mind. I don't think I'm politically correct enough to keep the soccer moms happy with my "coaching style" Old school baby. Plenty of water and salt tablets... but in your face man up challenges, conditioning, conditioning, conditioning and hit to make a lasting impression. I can hear "The Boys of Fall" playing in the background. I'm tearing up.

Basketball at North ought to be very interesting this year with new coach Dave Henley in charge. This looks to be a huge win for North to have him at the helm and he's got some real good talent coming up so I believe I'll stay on the grid iron with my razor sharp analysis.

    Also:

Does it appear that Collins will likely emerge as North Oldham's "new" big rival with the new districts in place next year ?

Mustang that is a lot tough talk I bet you never laced up a pair of cleats to play the game. Yes, Collins could become a big rival especially since W-Hills won't be tearing them apart after this season.

    Jake,

Seems like I remember lacing up once or twice in Tallahassee.

Take your conversation elsewhere. Let's talk about this game.

  3. Great post.

I won't attribute the following comment to all of HC, but I would have been embarrassed if I had been the announcer who, during this game, called out Eminence for having removed HC from their schedule. I understand the county rivalry, but as an up and coming 3A school, I would think that you would want to replace that game with a team that will better prepare you for playoffs. JMO.

I really want to cheer for and support the other teams local to my area. However, some posts on here and some comments, such as the one that I mentioned, make it hard to do so.

Your support for TC is always solid. One of the few bad things about these types of boards is people want to take what is said here and think that the same opinion is shared across the fan base. With every comment made, we need to recognize the fact that it is one man's opinion...no more, no less.

I do stand behind my source about running the clock. I see now that I probably shouldn't have said it in the first place because I am not willing to directly give credit to who told me. But in the big picture, small beans. Both programs will go their sperate ways.

One comment about scheduling is that programs look for a good balance of teams they have a shot at and teams they feel they can beat. These schedules are made in two year cycles. Teams in the state are in the second year of their schedule. Its hard to predict the status of the program two years out; especially at the high school level.

  4. Where did you hear this? I was pretty close to all of the action and didn't hear anything of the kind. Maybe the announcer said it? I did hear him mention a time or two that Eminence wouldn't play HC, either for high school or middle school.

BTW...congratulations to 3A HC on the win over 1A TC.

From several HC people. Not trying to start anything, I am only backing up what ol 70 said. HC wanted to take care of business early and get others in. Its not TC's year this year, but every program has it ups and downs. Coach Collins will get them on the right track.

  5. I like the idea but also like the way it is. I know spring sport athletes being pressured to practice football in spring is a problem for spring sport coaches. 3 things that could improve this would be 1. any player on a spring roster CANNOT practice spring football. 2. any player on spring roster can only pracice half the practices. 3. any player on spring roster CANNOT practice in full gear, only a helmet.

    4. Having the respectful coaches act like adults and work out a deal. The sport that is in season should get priority but it would be nice if the caoches could work together versus having the state make bylaws.

  6. With this proposal, a program could:

    a. practice the last three weeks of May in full gear.

    b. practice in helmets/cleats all summer long until around August 1 (minus the dead period)

    c. practice full gear from around August 1 until November or when the season is finished.

In a nutshell a football player could practice from the second week of May until November. Coaches would have about 11-12 weeks to prepare for Game 1. How is this good? When is too much too much?

    My proposal would be:

    a. No spring football

    b. No instruction until July 9.

    c. Weights and conditioning only from the end of season until beginning of dead period.

    d. Full gear August 1 or x amount of days prior to first day of school.

    Wow. Do you hate football?
