  1. In a way it does because the new coach will be in a district with private schools and independent schools and Ludlow itself is an independent school.

Yeah I know. I hope things get straigtened out so the private schools can just go out and get some of the best players. I know my senior year at Ludlow, Holy Cross would have never have beaten us if Armstrong and Stone wasn't on the team. We would have then got the 3rd seed and would have had a really good chance to make it to the second round of the playoffs instead of getting knocked out by Fairview in the first round.

  2. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Hensley have good talent at Ludlow when he took over? I know he had to talk some kids into coming back out for the team, but those kids were also athletic. I know for a fact he had one of the best quarterbacks the school has had in recent memory, as well as experienced kids in other key positions. Once again, I may be wrong on this matter, but to say that Dave Eckstein "just happened to have a great senior class" sounds like the pot calling the kettle black. Make no mistake, Coach Hensley did a great job in restoring the pride into the Panther football program. However, it does help to have some talented kids to go along with your coaching. He had mediocre talent this year, and look what happened. Dave Eckstein always had mediocre talent in Carroll County, and always seemed to put together good teams.

Side note - Randy Borchers will be a good fit for the program.

I know we did have talent here, but that talent meant nothing. I mean we got killed everygame and wasn't close in any game. So you would think some of the talent would have kept some of the games close, but no it didn't. It took him to come here to get that talent to take place and get alot of these kids to be as good as they are and were.

As for this year they had to replace everyone of their starters and then one of the best backs in NKY in the middle of the year, but he still got them to be very competitive. They were real close in making the playoffs. They had great games with both Holy Cross and Dayton but just came up a little short at the very end. So he just about made it there with the mediocre talent of having all new starters.

Coach Eckstein didn't always have mediocre talent at Carroll County. He had a very talented teams. I believe his class of 04 was almost starting for 3 years straight, I know that they were good and talented because I played against them. But then once they lost those players they started to go down, and look he left to go to a different team to now in Bellevue.

I believe your about Borchers being a good choice for the job now though because he knows the players and should be able to keep the program in the right track.

  3. Money aside I can think of two (and now with Coach Eckstein at Bellevue) three reasons why anyone at Dayton, Ludlow or Covington Holy Cross might look for greener pastures. :D

I dont think Coach Eckstein has anything to do with it. I dont believe Coach Eckstein is a better coach than Coach Hensley at all. Coach Eckstein just happened to have a great senior class last year. Other than both schools are pretty much the same and both coaches are building strong programs. It would be a battle between Hensley and Eckstein for the 3 and 4th playoffs spots every year if Hensley had stayed here.

  4. Wow I cant believe I haven't heard about this yet, but if this is true I wish Coach Hensley the best of luck.

I admit I am very sad to see him go, but I dont think the players or anyone should feel portrayed. I know it is hard to see him go, but we all should just be thankful for the job he did at Ludlow. It is because of him that football program is where it is, if he didn't come along who knows if the football program would have kept going because it was on a big down slide before he came.

I know I for one am very thankful to coach Hensley. I started varsity all four years at the school when I was there so I was on the team and had to deal with the long losing streak from my freshman to junior year. I know I was wondering I ever would get to win a game. But then he came in and completely turned the program around and not only got us our first win, but led us to the playoffs. He made my last year of ever playing football a very memorable one and I am so thankful for that.

I know we all wish he could stay, but we should be thankful for what he did. Who ever will be coming in will be getting into a good situation with alot of starters returning. I know whoever takes over will have hard shoes to fill because Coach Hensley was loved by everyone in the Community, but whoever takes over will still be in a good situation. I know I would like to see Randy Borchers get the job now because I believe he can pick up where Coach Hensley left off.

So Coach Hensley I just want to Thank you again for everything you have done for the program and the community and I want to wish you the best of luck on your new job, Im sure you will do great things there like you have at Ludlow.

  5. BZ- thanks for your insight and the vast knowledge you have given me. As it is written so shall it be. Everyone who wishes to play football DO IT.

I was no all-state player in school. I was not a record setter in school, I was a never was inschool- but guess what. I got the chance to play football at 39 years old and it was FUN. I never scored any touchdowns, I never saw my name in the paper for a record setting game. I never had the blocked field goal that saved the game BUT when I stepped onto that field, I knew more about football than 95% of the people on that field. I was not the fastest, not the biggests and definitley not the youngest. I was actually older than the owner of the team.

So if you do not want any part of this I understand, and thank you for not responding any longer but anyone else who wishes to do this give me a yell.

Hey TOMCAT- how about setting up a game for the summer of 2007 like the week before we start regular season football. We could play one at Putnam and then we could play one here.

First Alumni game----- Russell vs Ashland. What a match-up. ONE rule- you dont get Arliss play, OKAY !!!!

:thumb: I think your idea is a GREAT idea. I know Im from Northern Kentucky in Ludlow and I have always talked to all my friends and we all have wanted another chance to play again and definitely would do this. I know we play all the time I on the weekends but it still not the same as actually playing with pads.

I think we should change the requirements to only having to be 2 years out of high school because right now I only have been out of high school for 2 years so I wouldn't want to have to wait 2 more years lol. I know I have alot of friends who I played football with in high school who also would love to play again to. So you could count me in in wanting to try to get an alumni league together, plus also alot of my other friends would like to too.

  6. I believe Dan will definitely be at some Div. 1 school next year. He has to much potential for these schools to pass up on.

I know he hasn't dominated every game like we all think he should be able to at the high school level with his size and thats probably why some people on here have said he is overrated. I know I believe to he should stay down low more because he has such great skills he should be able to dominate down low at this level, and he probably would have the numbers that everyone would expect. But since he hasn't done that people try to say he is overrated and shouldn't even be looked at by div. 1 schools. But that stupid to think that because if have seen him play you should know he should be at some Div. 1 school, because he has the potential to be a very good player and coaches can see that.

I believe in college we all will get to see all of his true skills because he will be able to play more of the 3 position where he can face the basket which is where he is more comfortable playing at and where he can use his good outside shot and great passing skills and just play more freely by being able to move more.

Thats why he will end up at some Div. 1 school because these coaches can see the ball handling and passing skills he has for his size and the potential he brings. Then when he gets to college and actually gets good coaching he should be a very good player for what ever school he ends up at.

  7. It usually works out. Some schools do not have any players on the team because of other stuff going on like baseball, trips, camps, colleges don't want them to play, other all-star games. Some years teams are begging for a QB for instance.

Yeah I know that. The year I played on the all-star team we didn't have a true quarterback really, because Wera from beechwood couldn't because he was still playing baseball down state.

  8. True, but if your a senior, and your on the list, you will be on the team unless you choose not too.

You sure about that, because my senior year when I got to play in the all-star game some of my senior teammates didn't even though they were voted on the NKFCA team to. I know they was upset that they couldn't play in it so I know that they wanted to. So I dont think everyone on the list gets to go even if their on the NKFCA list.

Plus I think the most any one team can send is 5 and that is usually just for the teams that have really good years. Some teams can only send 2. Also There are alot teams on here who have around 7 or 8 guys who named a NKFCA all-star. So there are going to be a few players who wont be able to play in the all-star no matter if they want to or not.

  9. I would guess the streak where a NKY team has won a state final. How many years is it, 27? I may be wrong, but thought I heard that on the broadcast tonight.

That streak was broke sadly back in 2003 when both Beechwood and Highlands got beat in the State Championship games. So the new streak is only 2 right now lol. But we will get it back up that high eventually.

  10. It looks like NCC has now made two people on BGP stop posting things. First it was last week when they beat Bellevue and we really didn't hear anything else from heyimonyourside, and now this week with them beating LCA bluto has stopped saying anything also lol. I wonder now if that will also happen for a third week now this time against somerset. I know I really dont nothing about somerset really but the way NCC has been playing in these playoffs I really dont see them or anyone stopping them from winning state this year.
