  1. I think Highlands will win, but any fans from either team predicting a large margin of victory are sadly mistaken. Too much talent on both teams for that.

Specific to Birds fans, keep in mind LexCath lost to St. X 37-34.

That's exactly what i want Lex Cath to think. We only lost to St X by 3 and St X mercy ruled Highlands!!!!!!! Keep in mind that Highlands is very hard to beat this time of year, especially at Highlands. Just ask Tim Couch!!!!

  2. Somebody had a quick trigger finger last night. HHS barely caught the pass and the smoke ring was flying. I actually think the smoke ring beat all of the Franklin defenders to their sidelines. :D When did the cannon become semi-automatic?

That was the ole Veteran B.J. He said that after what happened last week with the misfires, it would give us more time to figure out what was wrong. :D I will admit that the cannon was sounding pretty good last night. We started a new technique on packing the powder and it seems to be working :ylsuper:

  3. Nice game by Franklin County. Your QB is definately a good one. Not sure about the timing of the onsides kick tonight early in the game. My opinion is you never wake a sleeping giant. I give you guys all the credit in the world on how hard you played the entire game; but alot of things could have gone bad real quick in the early moments of the game. Never, I mean never give Highlands the field position that you gave Highlands the entire night. Surely with the many skilled players you had running and catching routes, you guys could find someone to kick the ball past the 40. Come on, Highlands prides itself on discipline football and special teams. If you're gonna give Highlands the ball at the 45 to 50 yard line on every drive, you will pay dearly. Great game Highlands and another well played football game. Time to put this one to rest and get after Lex-Cath. I know they will be ready!!!!!!!!

  4. I'll bet Sticky knows that the cannon is usually fired after a touchdown and not the extra point. :D Where you guys sleeping on the job last week? :creepy:

Man, i knew that was coming. No excuses here, just a rookie taking over. I heard that the school is putting double pane windows in the budget for next year because of the new take over. :D And by the way, you forgot about the touchdown we missed all together. You must of been chit chatting with all the other moms. :fire:

  5. I've got a friend named Bruce who was on the cannon squad, he just retired so I'm gonna guess, 1963.

This is my first year on the cannon crew, i don't remember anybody by the name of bruce being involved. If there was, it would have a long time ago. The guys that have been doing it for the last 20 or so years were: Bill Johnson,Zeke Reynolds,Jerry Kohls,Charlie Kemplin,Reno Deaton and Tony Neltner. All Six will probably be retired after this year. These guys have been through alot of Highlands football the last 20 years. I wonder how many times they have shot the cannon off over that period of time. What a bunch of great guys. Don't worry, after extensive research of candidates is done over the off season the ole cannon will be in goods hands. :D

  6. For those of you who'd think Highlands will be overlooking a Solid Franklin County team are sadly mistaken. Friday night is another game that Every Young boy in Ft Thomas dreams of playing in before the entire town. There's a reminder that Hangs in the locker room reminding them of the 16 Highlands teams who have won that ultimate prize. It is a feeling that's is unexplainable to the normal person. It's pride, it's dedication, it's respect that every person in that stadium will give when Highlands takes the field. I've been there and there is no feeling like the one when you walk down that hallway when all eyes are on you. Each and every Highlands player knows what is expected of them when running onto that field. Yes, that field!!!! the one that holds probably the most famed history than any other field in the State of Kentucky. Some say that Highlands players talk a big game and sometimes maybe seem a little overconfident. I say it's that young boy living his childhood dream. I've had people ask me what's it like to play for Highlands, what's it feel like. My reply to them, Wouldn't you like to know!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck to Franklin County on Friday night and hope you have a safe trip. Go Birds!!!

  7. OK, I'm trying pretty hard to get the NCC faithful's "panties in a bunch" and you're making it a little difficult. :irked:

How's this. Maybe Bob's afraid that some kids from NCC will want their own home field especially with field turf on it. Since a lot of them are from Ft. Thomas anyway, maybe he's afraid they'll jump ship. CCH may be just far enough for him to not worry about it.

I wonder which locker room he would use. :D There is no way he would be able to look around Highlands locker room and be able to dijest the tradition. That would be like Michigan using Notre Dame's locker room. We could clean out the storage shed where they keep the tackling dummies. I just don't think Uncle Bob would give Highlands the satisfaction of playing his home game at Highlands
