  1. Time will tell, if all the players continue to work hard and keep their heads on straight (which I think this group can) they will be a special group. I would also like to give the coaching staff a pat on the back... Nick is a different type of coach from the last coach and it shows!!! I liked the last coach so don't take this the wrong way, he just sometimes would keep other teams in the game when the scores could have been a lot different.

  2. Trinity/St. X. is a big rivalry game where the vast majority of the time, no matter how much talent difference there is between the teams, the score will be tight.

That comparison is about as ridiculous as some Bird fans talking about Highlands varsity being the #1 in all classes of Kentucky. We have no delusions about ourselves, and admit when we are just not good. How quickly you forget that a very young Rock team handed you your lunch in a full game condition scrimmage. This same Trinity team has since matured tenfold, and would totally crush you now. :p

I don't recall Birds fans saying anything about being the #1 team in Kentucky but now that you bring it up I think the game between HHS and Trinity would be a very good game. Ox, I guess you believe HHS wasn't the best team in State last year as well???

  3. ONE MORE TIME....LISTEN CLOSELY, OK?? CovCath does NOT run up the score!!! EVERYONE has played!!! The defense in amazing, the receivers rock, and before a play, they decide whose "turn" it is to run a TD with the RBs. If I were the "Birds" I am concerned!!!!

A luxury they may not be able to enjoy Wednesday and by the way Highlands is not concerned but prepared, yes!!!

  4. I think Ryle is too one dimensional, they have to develop a passing game and there is no reason not to have one with a QB like Hemple. If Elliot is out I really feel it could get ugly. I like Ryle so don't take it as bashing Ryle, they need a better passing attack and don't tell me you can't find enough good receivers at Ryle to make this happen. Maybe Ryle is holding back until they play SK or Highlands again, we'll find out soon?

SK has a balanced attack which is hard to defend. They have a good QB who can run or pass and a good running attack as well !!!

  5. People have not been very nice on these threads this yr. Calling teams, coaches and players out. I did hear some guys talking last nite in the stands at the CovCath vs NCC game and one of them called the matchup a "Pillow Fight". I turned around to see who they were but did not recogonize them. I did give them a look though because I think it was quit insulting to describe kids giving it their all. Maybe everyone needs to realize that these are just kids and they are not dropping balls on purpose, nor fumbling balls on purpose, and throwing int's on purpose or missing tackles and ultimately losing on purpose. If kids were doing this stuff on purpose then I would become a betting man. Look in the mirrors people. Go Birds 20n10

You have grown-up grass hopper...very well stated!!!

  6. HaHaHa! I guess you havent seen the ALL Star team that Merrill Hoge has assembled on the 7 and 8 th grade level Red Team. LOL. That ought to bring TBirds and Tdyballgame out for some jawin. Im not complaining my kid plays on this team too.

    Go Birds 20n10

Luck of the draw if I remember correctly this team took their lumps last year so I'm glad to hear their having a good year!!!

  7. Coop ... I know Hempel gets talked up quite a bit and I haven't seen him, so I can't say one way or the other how good he truly is IMO. However, his stats leave a lot to be desired on the passing side of things. Under 50% completions; 2 TD's and 2 INT's. The Thompson kid at Boone has almost as many passing yards as him!

    VOR,

Thats why I don't rely totally on stats, stats can be misleading. If Hemple had more wepons to throw to you would see better stats. With the running game Rlye has it's a shame they don't have a better passing game???

  8. Towles is the best Qb in nky this year and next year will likely be the best qb in the state, IMO.

No argument here...I stated at the beginning of the year I thought Towles and Hemple were the two best QB's to begin the season. I know alot of schools are looking at him, I'm just waiting for the first offer and the others will fall in line.

  9. The Qb play has been good for years in Kentucky and this year as well as next year have some really good prospects. It's a shame KY doesn't get the recognition the other states receive because our boys can play. Maybe this will change with Hemple and Pike receiving offers and it's just a matter of time before Towles is mentioned.

  10. McCoy came in with 4:55 to play in the second quarter and I'm glad he did. Highlands had the game under control and there is no need to keep your starting QB in the game under this situation. Face it there is respect from both coaches for each other's programs and there is no need to humiliate the other team. Highlands got to work on plenty of things and Beechwood continued to play as Highlands made their subsitutions. Good luck to both programs as they move on.

  11. Just got back from out of town and was looking forward to reading about the game. There seems to be more talk about the facilities and babysitting problems??? I just wanted to add my two cents, if not for Tyler Seidle Ryle scores two more times...he came across the field to catch Elliot from behind. The defense played very well and the offense stepped up and made big plays when needed. At this time of the year they seem to be on course!!! Go Birds 20n10

  12. With respect can we leave the comparison to last years team till the playoffs start or even after the season is over ? They have only played one game ! :ohbrother:

Thank you !!! No need to put added pressure on this years team. I appreciate the support but chill out and enjoy the season, Go Birds!!!

  13. You think Tate is big, I just read where Newport Cathlic has a player that is 6'10" 330 lbs.:scared: His name is Gruenschlager (sp). I would think plenty of colleges are looking at this young man.

Henry, Great to hear about Austin doing well and when are you going to learn that size doesn't matter???

  14. They played, Cincy X won but it wasnt a route. After this game, Lou X made some personnel changes and didnt lose another game.

    woodyccrr,

were you at the game because anyone that attended the game knows the score does not tell the whole story. Highlands should of won the game by three Td's, I know the final score but Highlands was never in trouble and controlled the game. St X lost to Elder in the second game which could have gone either way. St. X played one of the toughest schedules in the nation, my hats off to them... Before you take a shot at St X. being 8 and 3 and insinuating that they where a so so team look at there overall schedule and tell me how many teams would of had an 8 and 3 record with there schedule.

  15. Wow!!! This is awesome news. Congrats to this young man on being recruited and offered by so many big time schools. This is really, really good stuff for NKY, whether you are a fan or not of the school he represents. These types of kids just keep bringing national attention to our area and exposes other kids who would have never been seen or considered. Opportunity for all and a win win situation for other kids being recruited, keep up the good work Pike.

Great post I agree, congrats to Pike and keep up the good work!!!

  16. SK has over a handful of players that remind me of some Highland greats Nevels, Stowers and Mitchell.

    Great,

Sounds like we should have a good matchup for tomorrow...I hope they are as good as you say they are. You mentioned two very good players and an NFL second round draft choice, should be fun.
