  5. While it was the Colonels first loss of the season, you can clearly see that Walt is in this for the kids, as the Colonles played twenty players, each playing about the same amount of innings, while the Kings played the same ten players the entire game.

Why can't we just say nice win Kings. They only played 10 players because that is all they had last night due to some players missing for sectional baseball playoffs and football all-star games. Also the second half of kids that entered the lineup for the Colonels came into bat in the 7th and 8th inning not half way through the game.

  8. Beechwood over Newport

    Ryle over Ludlow

    Highlands over Dixie

    CCH over Boone

    Semi's

    Ryle over Beechwood

    CCH over Highlands

    Finals

    Ryle over CCH

IF Highlands and CCH meet in the semi's wouldn't that be their first match up of the season? I believe the one scheduled got cancelled.

Highlands has played CCH twice this year and lost 2-1 in the regular season and they lost 5-3 in the Doc Morris Tournament Championship.

  9. Wildcats pull off the upset led by 8th grade pitcher Shawn Klaas. Sophomore Willie Price singled in Hesch for the game winning run in the bottom of the 8th. Great game by both teams and good luck in regionals. The all tournament team consisted of Tony Mayes of Bellevue, Dale Ferrel of Dayton, Jared Harris of NewCath, Allen and Rawlings of Highlands, and Pat Klaas, JJ Hesch, and the MVP was Shawn Klaas.

I have Billy Wolfinbarger making the all tournament team, not JJ Hesch.

  10. Newport out hit Highlands tonight 10 hits to 5 hits. Highlands only having hits by Ader, Shields, Muench, O'Brien and Rawlings. Rawlings hit his 3 HR in 3 consecutive games. Rawlings had 4 RBI'S tonight. Towles pitched the first 4 innings for Highlands and didn't have a great outing. Rawlings pitched the last 4 innings. The Birds had 7 errors tonight and I believe Newport had 6 errors. Not a great defensive game for either team. Newports pitcher, Shawn Klass, threw a great game.

The bottom of the 8th played out like this - Hesch got on with an error, Tolson sac bunted him to 2nd, Piccirillo struck out, Shoopman was intentionally walked, and W. Price hit a single up the middle to score the winning run.

  11. The Birds were lead by an great pitching performance by Patrick Allen. Offensive - Ader 2B and 2 RBI's, Rawlings HR and 2 RBI's, Liggett 2-3 and 2 RBI's, and Allen 2-4. Congratulations to Muench for getting his 40th hit and 40th RBI today. Highlands takes on Newport tomorrow at 5:00 at Highland Park for the District Championship.
