Kings off to a great start defeating J B Yeager last night 7 - 3 and defeating Storm Club tonight 14 - 4. Double header tomorrow against Panel Barn at Panel Barn and a double header on Sunday against Patterson Park at 1:00 and KY Colonels at 3:30 at St. Henry.

Highlands pitchers were Muench and Head. NCC pitchers were Enzweiler and Connor. Highlands had 9 hits and NCC had 11 hits.

All tournament team for NCC - Enzweiler, Pabst and Connor. For Highlands - Muench and Towles.

Where is the 5:00 PM game to be played today?

 

Never Mind. I looked at the scoreboard which says @ Newport.

Actually, even though Newport is hosting the tournament, the game is at Newport Central Catholic's field down at Morscher.

Sat at Ryle, don't know the time though.

Baseball, softball tourney draws set

The draws for the Ninth Region baseball and softball tournaments will take place this weekend.

The softball draw is scheduled to be held at host site Dixie Heights at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The baseball draw is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. Sunday at Ryle; that tournament will be played at Champion Window Field in Florence.

Who pitched for Dixie???

Nichols. He had a great game striking out 15 and only giving up 3 hits.

Dixie beat Highlands 3 - 0 in the finals.

Dixie wins the Jim Conner Classic. Outstanding job on the mound by Dixie's Matt Nichols who held the Birds to 3 hits and struck out 15 batters. Nichols also had a HR. Oliver Head for the Birds also pitched good only allowing 3 hits.

Towles threw a good game today with 5K's. Rizzo 2-3, 2B, Muench 3-3, 2B, HR (#8), Towles 2-3, Obrien 2B.

Muench HR #8 against Bellevue today.

The 36th District tournament will will be played at Mosher Field.

Tuesday 5-20 Dayton (H) vs. NCC 4:30pm

Wow, Towles must have a rubber arm. Seems like every Highlands thread I read, he's pitched for them.

He does have a rubber arm, but he only pitched 2 1/2 on Monday and he only threw 7 innings last week, 2 against Bellevue and 5 against Ryle.

It was a complete 7 inning game. Muench started and went 5, only giving up 2 hits and had 4 K's, 1 unearned run on an error. Towles pitched the final 2 only giving up only 2 hits and had 4K's. Reller 2-4, Muench 2-4 1 RBI, Towles 2-4 2 RBI's, White 2 RBI's. Birds have the day off tomorrow and face a tough Milford team on Friday at Highland Park. Friday is Community Appreciation day at the ballpark.

Muench hits 2 HR's tonight for #6 and #7.

Final.Good job on the mound by Highlands pitcher Jake Daley who only gave up 1 run over 5 innings and struck out 5. Muench 4-4, 2 HR(#6,#7),2B and 7 RBI's, Rizzo 2B and O'Brien 2B. Birds play Dixie again tomorrow at Dixie.

I think it goes without saying that Highlands will need to throw Towles in the District opener. Muench is a solid starter but will be saved for the 2nd game if they advance most likely. The bats are my question up at Highlands. Outside of Muench, who else is hitting the ball well this season? They dont seem to manufacture a lot of runs.

 

 

Sophmore Chris Rizzo is hitting very well for the Birds right now.

I believe Adams from Scott has 6, as well as Farris, Maile, and Muench all with 5.

I think Isler from Cov Cath has 5.

Didn't Hunter Jones (Bellevue) just hit his 5th yesterday?

I think he hit his 5th against Highlands and his 6th against Dayton yesterday.

How does Highlands lose to Bellevue but then come back and beat Ryle by nearly 10 runs the next day? It seems that they only win when Towles pitches the majority of the game

Highlands has won 11 games and 4 of those wins were Towles'.
