  1. Thus, legally, the KHSAA ruling of ineligibility was valid and any games Mitchell participated in are to be forfeited.

Except those in state championship competition. So, 3 wishes, the champion will finish with 4 wins (the playoff ones only) or with all (if it's Boyle).

Sec. 1) Use of an Ineligible Player

When a student is declared ineligible, all contests in

which he/she has played while ineligible shall be forfeited

to the opposing team except that this may not apply to

    state championship competition.

So did HopTown get to keep their wins throughout the playoffs the year Pinner was ineligble?

Should HHS have to give the Region trophy to Cov. Cath and the Semi trophy to Bell County?

  2. not 100% sure but i'll bet plenty of kids go to cov cath that don't live near there. they are a private school who can get the pick of the litter if they want. if a kid doesn't want to play there they can just throw a fit and cause what we're seeing now???

cov cath shouldn't complain about anything..

doest the bible say "turn the other cheek"???

If those 'plenty' of kids move to go to Cov Cath then that is fine, but if they decide to play sports then they will have to face the same dilemma. Anyone can transfer for academic reasons and none of us would even know about it, but if they suit up in sports gear then it matters.

  3. I understand that but I'm curious as to whether the title is awarded to the other team or the title is vacated. Those are two different outcomes. I think Boyle would not look at it as a championship won.

I think if the title is vacated, then it is even worse IMO. That would mean that prior to the game HHS had the edge and Boyle County would then be punished, either way we are all in agreement, there is no happy ending coming to this.

  4. is everyone missing the point here??? we're talking about KIDS playing HIGHSCHOOL football. if the ruling was going to be overturned then it should have been done within a week or two. how do you tell a kid who has worked so hard the whole season, played his heart out, that the state FINALLY decided that you can't play in the last game(THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME)

IS THIS REALLY FAIR TO MIKE????

    ??????

It is not fair at all, however, I guess somewhere down the line a precendent has to be set. According to the KHSAA the move was illegal and the kid is ineligble, this was a risk known earlier in the year and the Birds still stuck with it. If they let this go, then it may continue to happen.

  5. I may be wrong by saying this because it has been a while since I read the original Mitchell Case thread that stayed on the front page for so long but wasn't the coaches, administration, etc fully aware that this could happen at any point in the season? If so, I don't think the entire blame can be laid on the KHSAA, I mean if this was made aware to the HHS community earlier in the year, shouldn't it be some of the coaches fault for continuing to play him? But I also see where if a coach was to wait this long then maybe Mitchell wouldn't have gotten to play anyway, hindsight I guess. But if a caoch knew that this could possibly be an outcome that is a big risk to take.

  6. If you're going that route then you can go all the way back to Grant Co who was knocked out of the playoffs in their District. Somewhere a line has to be drawn. This might be the biggest black eye in the History of KY High School Football. It will be interesting to see how things play out. It's unfortunate that a bunch of teenage kids and coaches that spend countless hours away from their families for the kids have to go through this kind of stuff! He is the biggest difference maker for Highlands and even if he dosen't play and Highlands does then nobody wins! If Boyle wins it will be said that it was because Highlands lost their best player. If Highlands wins it's because they made it with an illegal player. If Highlands dosen't get to go then it will be Boyle beat the 3rd best team in 3A if Boyle gets beat by that team then it's because they had to prepare for somebody new! I was REALLY looking forward to this reamatch along with most everybody in the state. I really felt like Boyle was going to unload on the Birds. I hope everything gets straightened out.

Agree with everything you said. I don't think there is a light at the end of this tunnel. I would like your sentence to be true, but I don't think that can happen.

Here's what it boils down to. The kid lives in Boyle County, the kid plays at Boyle County, the dad lives in Boyle County, the dad works an hour away, like many other parents do. End of story. Non-issue.

Well that is fine, the kid should be eligible I had just never heard it put that way before. I never even questioned it to begin with, other than the 6 months prior to the season when everything was a mere foggy image.

Call it what you will. You may not have used the exact terminology "he should be ineligible". But your inference is rather obvious in the above quote.

The last time I checked, this board is here to offer insight and information. I ahd no idea what the issue was then, THAT THREAD WAS BACK IN JANAURY OF 2003 FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. You are the one trying to make something of it. I may not have used correct punctuation, but can you not clearly see where I was ASKING the question. Nothing is obvious in the quote above except I was just trying to grasp what was happening back in January, almost 6 months before the season starts.

Also can you see in the post you are referring to that I was not sure, hence the question mark(?) And what I said was true, his dad does drive back and forth from Columbia to Boyle as I re-read, so I was right. The only part I wasn't sure about was if he was a resident, once again, hence the question mark(?)

Sorry that last post took so much time to search and investigate for accusations that were not true on me:irked:

Of course they all drive outside the county I never doubted that especially since there are about 10 business's in all of Mt. Vernon.

Either way that doesn't matter. I'm still waiting on a reply back from you where I said he shouldn't be eligible...

  10. You wasted a lot of time typing that BGFF because I'll admit when I'm wrong. I didn't do it on purpose, I really thought that was the argument. Without even looking at the links you posted I can also admit that it has been a long time ago that, that thread was even popular, say around preseason?

I know a lot of people drive out of county and all mine do and I even drove out of district. I have no problem with that anyway, I just thought or had the impression right now that they drove from Columbia. MY BAD. You cannot say that I hate Boyle County, I respect Boyle County as everyone should, end of story. I would like to think that being a MOD has nothing to do with this conversation anyway. It sounds to me like you have a CHIP on your shoulder. I will say it was my bad, I did post false info. on here but it was a misunderstanding, can you handle that?

I was not making a BIG DEAL out this, only using it as example that I thought was happening, if I wanted to make a big deal about I would've started a new thread on the subject, but to be honest the thought hadn't even been in my mind till all this Danville/Boyle redistricting thing came about. As a matter of fact I was trying to support the Danville school system.

Then it would be watered down and the best wouldn't be playing the best.
