  1. MMI and Oak Hill Academy are not regular high school teams. They cannot even play for a state championship. I believe that we are asking about our regular high school teams. I would gladly start a new thread if I believed that only true college athletes would apply.
  2. That doesn't mean that 63% of the people voting yes played college basketball or athletics. Use a poll asking college athletes and then you might get an accurate poll. Could it happen, yes, only if the right teams play. It would not be a regular occurance.
  3. Yes, this Indiana All-Star Team beat the group from last year. They easily beat them! I like Dan Penick, and I hope that he makes the team. But I have watch Oden play up close several times, and he is amazing even with his hurt wrist. He is not the only player on this team, they are truly loaded with big time D-I players.
  4. During an open gym at a local NAIA College, I watch a local state champion, nationally ranked high school team pair up and play that schools team. They had this same argument, because they had four players that signed full rides to D-I schools, and the other player signed to a D-II school. The small NAIA school was nationally ranked and they were mostly juniors ad seniors. The college players won ever game that they played. Two of those high school players went on to play in the NBA. I know that it was only open gym during the summer time, but it is truly hard for a high school team to play these guys. Now if it was a losing program at a small college, then they might have won. We have to remeber that each of those college players was probably the stud on their high school team.
  5. High school athletics is about the kids. No, one said that is wasn't about the kids. I could ask anyone of my varsity players in the 17 years that I have been coaching, and not one of them wants to play stall basketball. It is not fun to watch or PLAY. So, yes it would be great if the state could afford the idea.
  6. After being a coach for the past 17 years, I am all for it. Several states went against the NFHS and added a shot clock. Their attendance went up dramatically. It creates a fun and enjoying style of basketball. A school can still hold the ball, look at Princeton, but it still picks up the pace of a game.
  7. Indiana has five classes for football and four for basketball. You have to have a class system for football. It is not about winning a state championship in football, it is about a players safety. I played basketball in Indiana when we didn't have a class system. We went into tournament time knowing that we had to play the most winning basketball program in the state. There gym seats over 7500, and they have won more state titles than anyone. During this time, they won three in a row. So, are chances were slim to none. I have more fond memories playing in that atmosphere, and losing by a few points or taking them to overtime, than winning a class regional title. I would have loved to play in an All A State Tournament and then had a chance to play the states best teams. The All A is a great tournament, but it needs to be changed a little. Maybe do what Indiana is doing with their private schools. They are making them add 1.5 for evey student. This might eliminate some of them for the All A Tournament.
  8. I have seen both Indiana and Kentucky basketball up front as a player and a coach. The worst thing that you can do is go to class basketball. I believe that the All A can be changed a little, but on the most part I like it and the single class state championship. I have watched Indiana schools drop programs, because they couldn't afford them. Some small schools make enough money from the state tournament that they can supplement the non-revenue earning programs. Some of these small schools in Indiana made more money from their portion of their sectional, than they did all year long. I would like to see Indiana start an All A Classic. Coming from Indiana to Kentucky, I believe that you have got it right with the All A Classic. It gives the small schools a chance and they still can compete with the big boys at the end of the year. Yes, they can restructure it a little, but it is a good thing. PLEASE DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS INDIANA!
  9. Last year Dayton vs Silver Grove. A Dayton player had on two left shoes. I guess he played the JV game with two left shoes. During the varsity game both coaches met at the scorers table and with an official laughing about it.
