  1. "Michael Mayer from Covington Catholic probably has the most impressive offer list to date including Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, and Notre Dame among others."

Not trying to start a debate, however, this may be a little understated. I don't recall a KY player that has the list that Michael Mayor currently has. Maybe Kurt Barber or Shawn Alexander?

2019 Glasgow OL Tanner Bowles has offers from every SEC school along with many others and is an Alabama committ. Kentucky usually has 1-2 players a year that are national recruits.
  2. I think Hopkinsville is a sleeping giant that is waking up. They are probably the greatest threat to stop a third straight FS-JC title game.

Good programs like Wayne County, Collins, Hopkinsville, Ashland and Rockcastle County shouldn't be dismissed, but Round 3 for Franklin Simpson and Johnson Central seems likely.

I thinking like @FSfan, I believe Hoptown will be a giant to overcome this year. The way I understand it Logan Co. brings back a lot from last years team too.
I am suspect about a 6-7 Hopkinsville team that lost all their skill players other than their QB on offense and 7-8 starters on defense. Logan returns quite a bit, but will have to show it was more than just catching lightning in a bottle 1 year. Other than Franklin Simpson, I think Madisonville is the most talented team in region 1. But they have to avoid the injuries they sustained last year.
  3. To add to that, if I am Brandon Smith I tell BG to kick rocks. South Warren is about to pass BG as the premier program in that area and it will be because of him. Plus, there is a much better job waiting for him down the road.
From a talent standpoint, South Warren will be taking a dip after 2018. Hence the reason smith may have an interest. South Warren is just Warren Central 2.0. SW is just a year removed from being beaten twice in the same year by Franklin while having 3 D1 players on their team.
  4. But Moore should have next level thoughts in his mind IMO. While going to Purdue doesn't necessarily eliminate that opportunity, but how many times do we see players at Bama or OSU start 1 year and then go to the pros as a 1st or 2nd draft pick? Basically every year at this point. I understand that's not always their top priority, but I'm not sure what Purdue offers him outside of a really good education that Louisville doesn't. If he doesn't want to go to Texas, Bama, OSU he should stay home and go to UL IMO. I think it gives him a better chance to be competitive and probably a greater chance at reaching the next level due to increased exposure.
Moore is very fast. But the fact is he is 5’9. Not a lot of 5’9 receivers in the nfl. If it is Purdue, it’s hard to argue the numbers offensive skill players have put up in Brohm offense the past 4 years and the players that have been drafted into the NFL on his watch.
  5. Just curious to why the love for open/spread offenses and the hate for old smash mouth football?
It is about winning. However, when old smash mouth football gets beat by a spread team (especially those with less talent) that is where the grumbling starts.

And I agree with All Tell. Elite athletes have no interest in 3 yds and a cloud of dust especially if they have options.

  6. 2016 Finalist

    1A Beechwood / Hazard

    2A Mayfield / Newport Catholic

    3A Belfry / Central

4A John Hardin / Wayne County

    5A Bowling Green / Highlands

    6A Trinity / Scott County

If I get 8/12 will you send me a Belfry T-shirt?

Got 6 of 12. I did have 4 others in the final 4 with a chance to make the finals.

Maybe I'll get my Belfry T-shirt next year!:lol2:

  7. Which is great and all for WKU. However if you are arguing that UK needs to have more KY players and that would help them be more successful. Then that is as silly
UK could have been told 10 years ago they were only allowed to recruit in state and would have won just as many games the past 10 years. One could make a strong argument that a lot of the players UK recruits out of state aren't as talented as a lot of kids in state. Don't pee on my shoe and tell me it's raining.
  8. A great game by two strong teams. One thing I am curious though is the sustainability of Lafayette's success. It seems like both last year and this year they cinch the win with some supremely talented players. Will that well run dry anytime soon? Will they still compete at a high level if it does?

I could easily see Lafayette becoming the destination school for football in Lexington, but I'm curious to hear from the people who live there and know it better.

Can't the same be said for every team?
