I know these are kids we are talking about but drastic times calls for drastic measures. Harsher discipline is needed in some cases not just to straighten the guilty out but those around them and those who follow. Letting kids off easy time and time again will do no good. The AD at Holmes needs to get control over this program before it hits bottom. These kids and for that matter any kids at any school need to fear getting in to trouble alot more than they do. Holmes really needs to set an example of what they are not going to tolerate anymore. Letting the current varsity players and the ones to come ( JV, Freshman and Junior High ) know that these types of things will not happen if you want to be a student athlete at this school.
I agree firmly. Yet, another black eye for Holmes. Here is a link to todays article in the Enquirer.
http://news.nky.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20070112/SPT0302/701120431
Holmes coach David Henley and athletic director Ron Madrick confirmed Thursday, the eve of today's district matchup with city rival Holy Cross, that six players had been suspended for a "violation of team rules."
The suspensions will last five games or more.
Although neither the coach nor AD would name the players, Madrick said four of them have started at one time.

Wrong! Coaches are not fathers and friends. They are coaches. It's when they start trying to be fathers and friends that the line of respect gets blurred and crap like this starts happening. Coaches can be father-like figures, but they are not a replacement for a father in the home, teaching, disciplining and praising his son.

If you knew some of the situations dealt with by some of the players you would know what LATCH says is the truth.
-
DJ was only cleared to practice for the next two weeks.
If it was my decision I would kick the kids off the team for what they did. Too many chances, especially for a certain one who left the team last year. Play the kids who want to be there and be coached!

Even though it's a big game I think they should worry about getting everything together in house and then trying to make a run in the beginning of March. There is no doubt that they are talented, and they will be a very tough out in the tournament.
I have a feeling Holmes will be minus a few players.

Like Holy Cross by 10 in this one regardless of Holmes situation.
Cross by 6 in an ugly low scoring game.

Largest Cities: Louisville Lexington Owensboro Bowling Green Covington
When you consider that both Louisville, and Lexington, population includes the entire counties of Jefferson, and Fayette, yes Covington is a big city in Kentucky. Just think how big Covington would be if it included the entire county of Kenton, but that will never, ever happen in a million years.
I agree Old Guy. Louiville and Lex. are the size of all three NKY counties if not larger

oldschoolwrestler sounds like you have something against the kid
Don't know too much about him except all the moves. Just kind of odd for a high schooler to transfer that often, that's it.
-
Edmondson from holmes tranfered to Gallatin and finally is allowed to play
Wonder if he will transfer again and make it 4 schools in 4 years.
-
According to Moeller's website he's a 6'8" 226 pound center... that's a pretty big boy for a back-up. Their other center is 6'9" 206 pounds. Too bad Moeller can't find any big bodies or else they might have a chance at the GCL this year. :bunny:
Season for them starts December 2nd, so we'll know how he's developed then.
He has had injury problems which has slowed his progression. He has very bad knees.
-
So.... Is Edmondson not playing?

I believe it was more than teenagers fighting... If that is all it was, then they would have mended the situation and moved on.... intimidation on a daily basis should be legitimate bases for a child to remove himself from the situation and start fresh somewhere else.
I did not hear anything about the intimidation. I agree with your statement but was it just a ploy to attend another school to be the star??? Who knows
-
Yes I graduated from there and not too long ago. I also work in a school environment at this time. I started in the Boone District and was also in the Cov. District for awhile and there is not much of a difference. Teenagers being teenagers. I look forward to going back to the Covington District in the next few years. When I was a student at Holmes I was never threatened by anyone or involved in a fight. Never saw a gun or ANY drugs. The bad rep. recived is due to the percentage of African-Americans at the school which is not fair. The actual percentage is about 85% white and 15% African American. I'm scared is not a val;id excuse. Was he also scared at Simon Kenton???

The argument that the young man is in fear at Holmes probably didn't have a lot of credibility with the KHSAA. He left Holmes AFTER one of his adversaries had been expelled/left Holmes. His other adversary graduated. The kid that bore the brunt of the attack is still there playing. The KHSAA also has a rule that says you cannot enroll at your new school PRIOR to moving to that district. That probably did not help his cause either.
I feel bad for the kid. He should have been at Holmes from day one and should still be at Holmes. Unfortunately, and I don't know why, some people either made bad decisions for him or let him make bad decisions. Sad case. Probably won't be the last.
It was teenagers fighting. I'm assuming nobody else on this board had ever got in a fight when they were younger. Big Deal!! And I agree he should have been at Holmes from day on also. All the school surfin just comes back to haunt you.
-
I think the KHSAA should cut him some slack especially considering the heat he took at Holmes last year. I would call those special circumstances but the fact that he has been with 3 different schools in 4 yrs is somewhat ridiculous as well. I don't understand the Behrens situation , only thing I heard there was the family moved because of a job offer. They had to pack up and move all of 15 minutes south to florence... : )
Exactly what heat was that?
-
I've seeen the kid play numerous times since he was in 6th grade and I don't understand the hype. He's not that good.
-
11 is the over/under on Holmes penalties.
-
They lost some pieces, but they should be pretty decent.
The Busse kid too. Three of there best players and senior leadership. That's going to be tough to rebound from. Who else?
-
Not too bold of a prediction taking the 1 and 2 teams in the region to advance to the regional tournament. You had a sarcastic comment, so I backed it up. It is very conceivable that HC can beat one of those two teams.
Outside chance. HC lost Steenken, Trame, 6th man Laible, and who else?
-
No they could only have to beat one of them in the post season no matter what. That's how it works. If they get out of the district they don't have to beat both of the teams rated above them. It's pretty simple actually. If you need more help I can go in depth.
I know how it works. It won't happen though. Another early exit.
-
I don't remember Stack being on the team when I saw Holmes play Oak Hill Academy. I do remember Jeff McInnis playing and I'm sure he's older than Stack. It was a much better game than I expected it to be.
Great game. Also a big man with the last name of Forrest who went to Wake Forest. Holmes lost by 10 I believe. No Stackhouse though. 91'

Same difference. Thanks for the update.

Yes I do. Saying I would kick them off the team is not that harsh. Happens every year at probably every school. You have to draw the line at some point.
