Mitchell was ruled ineligible by the KHSAA. Was he not? I personally don't blame Mueller too much for playing him. Mueller wants to win and he rolled the dice. But the kid shouldnt have ever been allowed to play.
-
Highlands coach also played a player ruled INELIGIBLE by the KHSAA!!
-
Sport,
The way I understand the situation is the kid was ruled ineligible by the KHSAA. The kids family went to court and won, even though they shouldnt have. There is a rule against what he did plain and simple!! What more is there to say.
-
If a kid moves for whatever the reason. Father getting a different job, or anything else the kid should be able to play sports wherever he goes. This kid just wanted to go to Highlands to play football. Its simply against the rules and it shouldnt have been tested.

This is really a sad situation for the rest of the Highlands players, Bell County, Covington Catholic, and the state.
The KHSAA is NOT to fault about this. They have rules in place so they will be followed. The situation was taken out of the KHSAA's hands temporary and its caused a mess. Me being at the game Friday night Id think Bell would probably be playing on Saturday had Mitchell not been on the field.
It looks to me like some people tried to get around the system and didn't succeed in the end. I am glad a proper decision was made even though it was 2 months too late. Good luck to the kids from Highlands. They didn't deserve this.

Robbins ran like a 4.47 at a combine at Lynn Camp. And I watched Coach Hilton time him at 4.49, and coach seems to time everyone slower than they do at combines. I cant swear that Shawn runs a legit 4 4 but I can pretty much say hes atleast in the 4.5 range. And hes just a Jr. Im not sure on whos recruiting him and Im not comparing him to anyone
but hes pretty darn good.

Going back to Eastboys comments, Burrows did play against Bell. He got popped hard early and wasnt a factor. I am pretty sure he played some after that. I seem to remember him dropping a pass after that.
THere is no way the Mboro could compete with Bell at this point in the yr and next yr for that matter.
Bell has IMO 6 boys who if Coach Hilton wanted to could build them up to be All state players, but hes worried about the team more so than individual accomplishments and doesnt pad stats.
Shawn Robbins
John Brumbach
Trey Harbin
Brent Barton
Jacob Warren
Jordan Marcum
Also on a friendly note to Westsider Casey and the QB, i forget his name may be the best 1 2 punch in the state.

Westsider,
i never ranked Bell as high as 3rd last year. Im just stating my opinion. I think Bell could be a better team than last yr and I think 3A is up for grabs this year more than last yr.
-
Here is my rankings after putting a little thought into it.
1. Boyle Co. theyll be there til they r beaten. So it may be a while or it may be friday night.
2. Paducah Tighlman Prolly the most talented.
3. tie Rockastle Still gonna have a tuff defense.
3. tie Bell has potential to be very dangerous. And could return to the cartpet.
5. Hopkinsville Always tuff.
6. Highlands Seem to be the odds on favorite in the north.
7. Mason Move to 3A may be more difficult than people realize.
8. CovCath play a tuff schedule every year.
9. Bowling Green I here they are good.
10. tie LexCath
10. tie Lawrence Co.

I just dont see how u could possibly put CovCath, LexCath, and Highlands all ahead of Bell and Rock. I mean dont we put Boyle # 1 til they get beat? I think Rock deserves to be ranked ahead of all 3 teams from the north til they are beat. And Bell should atleast be ahead of LexCath. Thats just my opinion tho.
And guys I think Rock could have played Highlands 10 times and drilled them 10 times last year. Rock was that good. And Boyle was that good to beat them.
Guys Sheldon Clark had a nice team last year. They played Bell VERY HARD. Someone had said they should have beat Bell in an earlier thread so I got a little defensive. My bad.
-
Old Bird,
Bell played Rock ALOT closer than Highlands. Rock still was the better team, but Bell made 2 costly fumbles and had an int returned for a TD. They still kept it close til halfway thru the 3rd qtr. Also the 1st game was 14-7 with Bell the ball late in the game with a chance to tie. So atleast Rock, Bell, Ashland, and definitly Rock were as good and prolly better than the big north region schools. Look for that to be the same this year.
Also the Sheldon Clark game wasnt even close at the start of the 4th qtr.
-
Sheldon Clark's game with Bell wasnt as close really. It was 28 to 7 starting the 4th qtr. A fumble and a quick score made the game look closer in the end.
I think Bell will make it back to the final 4 this year. After going almost every year in the 90s Dudley has them returning to prominence. They will have some stiff competition in their region with Rock (still the favorite), Mason (explosive offense), Lawrence (always dangerous) just to name a few.
I do think the east region winner will beat the north region and make it to the carpet.
Breaking news! Highlands may be losing their best player for the finals!

You cant let the kid play. Hes ineligible. 2 wrongs don't make something right.
