  1. 1. Log Mountain, you evidently haven't played with Miller for a couple of years. 5'10"?

    2. Unofficial visits are limited by NCAA. They must be used sparingly and can only be used certain times of the year. Players who live close by sometimes are ask to come. A place like L'ville can get kids to do that.

    3. Ukbell, Miller may not get to sign, but he gets a visit. At l'ville that's special.

    4. Miller on defense...... he's athletic enough to learn. Defensive players have to learn to shoot. What's the difference? You need both.

    5. Why don't some reporter simply call his parents and ask about schools and visits and get the real scoop instead of guessing about who is calling and who is not?

I guarded him. Hes 5 11 tops. Hes not 6 foot. I played against him this past summer.

I played pickup games 2 years ago with Patrick Sparks one day. Ive guarded Miller several occasions in a Mens League. Sparks IMO is easily 2 inches taller than Miller. He is also a whole lot quicker and stronger. Now athletic wise Sparks lacks what most D 1 guards have in that category. Now all I am saying is hes not athletic enough to guard a quick D 1 guard. And I don't know if he ever will be.

I think he would make a good DII or NAIA player!

  2.

His phone never stops ringing. He has been told he could go to LMU, Carson Newman, Walter State (Juco), Morehead, SIU, and even Belmont and step right in the starting lineup. They are simply waiting on him to say the word. Excuse him for waiting things out and seeing if better options come his way. Thank goodness he did though.

For your info, this is an OFFICIAL visit. Sorry to spoil your fun.

I think these are the types of schools he can go to and play very well at. As far as telling him he will start right away, thats hard to believe. I think that is misleading a kid anytime you say that. An accurate thing to say would be he has a chance to compete for playing time right away.

  3. Its just not that easy to go to a big time D 1 school. We had a player a few years ago named Josh Brock. He was extremely talented, about 6-3 (legit) and could do whatever he wanted on the court. If he was in the right system he would of scored 30 a game (and did a few occasions).

Clay County had a kid named Jeremy Asher a few years ago who was absolutely amazing. Georgetown was the biggest school he could get to.

Rockastle had a kid named Aaron Cash who led Rockastle to 2 regional titles without much around him.

I will assure you, all of these guys were much better than Miller.

  4. Rick Bolus has Miller listed @ 6-1

Honestly, I have played Mens league against and I know him. Hes 5-10 tops. He is an excellent shooter. Honestly that is all he is. Wherever he goes, he will be someone who can come in and let it fly, but I think UL is a little over his head. I think EKU or Georgetown would be schools he could really flourish at.

  5. A head coach should have the authority to schedule his games. I am sure Bell Co is using the money game to get them back on the schedule. Is Bell Co having a problem getting teams to play them? Maybe they should let up when the games get out of hand. That would help to keep teams on the schedule.

If Bell is up by 3 or more TD's in the 4th quarter of a game, then you will not see starters on the field. The only problem is some years our reserves are better than other team's starters. Thats not being cocky, there are teams just as good as us, but in some situations that is the case.

Anyways, this move makes a lot of sense financially and brings more funds to the program. This is a great move.

  6. Thats great for Bell Co. that they have a lot of yong players with experience, but there is a difference between 16-17 year olds (Bell Co.) against 18-19 year olds (Rock). The 18-19 yr old group seems to be more mature in life(most of the time) as well as on the field which makes a big difference (I personally think) in a football game. Don't get me wrong that doesn't mean the older team always wins but its a big advantage...

Bell also returns a lot. Really the only very important player we lost is Buckeye. Other than that, we have some key Jrs and Srs returning. You have a point with age, but regardless of age, these 16 yr olds were in the game this past year and have more room for improvement than a lot of Rock's juniors. Thats just a thought, like yours.

Now what does Rock have coming back? Ive heard a lot, but I don't know how much a lot is.

  7. Oh don't worry Rockcastle took the loss no doubt about that but with that loss it just made the 21-0 SHUTOUT ON LOG MOUNTIAN that much sweeter!!!!

And its gonna be even sweeter in '06 when the Rock will not only beat Bell Co. in a district matchup but as well in the Regional Championship AGAIN!!!!

Mark my word for it cause if Bell got ran off the field in both matchups in '05 than there is no telling how bad Hilton and the Bobcats will lose in '06

Your posts have been hilarious! Hey you guys came to Log Mountain in the 2nd game and your defense dominated that ball game. Rock has a lot to be pleased with.

Hey Rock whooped up on Bell for 3 years there, then Bell did the same to Rock for a couple years. And then Rock got a big win.

Bell will be a good team next year. One thing Bell has is 4 soon to be sophomores who have a lot of varsity experience. These 4 guys also did not get to play much freshmen and JV, and I don't believe Bell lost a freshman or JV game. We are going to be in good shape for years to come!

  8. It is amazing that you guys are still using our field as (nothing more than) an EXCUSE for the way the game went last season. The baseball field does not get used during football season. There are no games being played out there and no one walking around on the field messing it up. It didn't have the wair and tair of the football field. If you guys want to continue trying to make excuses and not realize the truth than go ahead.

Hey you guys had your illegal player in and won the game. So why are you guys complaining?

  9. Don't show the picture of HHS coming off the bus, their uniforms aren't dirty yet. Just kidding! I went to the game and thought that it was kind of odd that the baseball field which was about 100 yds away looked to be dry after walking on it.

Thats because no one was playing football on the baseball field. Having the field constantly being used makes a big difference!

  10. As to your last point, fair enough. But can someone tell me how I post the game film on this site?

Look guys, we arent in Northern Kentucky where everyone has really nice fields and all that stuff. Our field was probably the nicest in SE Ky. You guys are judging our field based on all the nice fields you all see at Covington Catholic and more wealthy schools with nicer facilities. If you guys would have actually seen all the other fields in the area then maybe you would understand, but youve not.

  11. If that is the case, they must be very localized. We parked on concrete hard dirt/grass not 100 yards from the field that had ankle deep mud.

Thats ridiculous! Last year it had rained a lot and the field just could not withstand all the water. We are sorry we dont have the funding to keep our fields good and dry all the time. But you could have went to any stadium in SE Ky and you would find a muddy field. Ashland' field was a whole lot worse than Bell County's last year.

  12. I know it is heresay and not admissible in court, but, I actually talked to a Bell county fan and was told that there is sometimes a pumper truck brought to the field to give mother nature a hand. He may have been shining me but then again....

Someone who said that does not know what they are talking about. It is so funny the rumors that go around with both programs.

  13. unless someone steps up in the backfield bell will be looking at a long year and not in a good way

    Are you kidding me?

Bell is going to have a great season next year. We have a lot of great players coming up and of course we have a great coaching staff!!

As for the running back position, TR Christopher is a great back and has a lot of talent. He was only a sophomore last season. He will be back bigger, stronger, faster, and more importantly wiser. Also there are some other great backs coming up. You have Matt Simpson, Spencer Greer, Tyler Harbin, who all played some this year and will all be sophomores. Don't worry, Bell will be a great team next year.

  14. Id love to see that to. But they arent scheduled this year. I think this year would be a great year for them to play. Belfry does play at Ashland though this year. That should make for a great ball game. I always like to see Bell and ROck both be sucessful they are programs like Belfry with class, tradition, and old school football.

Bell County and Belfry especially play very similarly running the football as much as both coaches can get away with and play great defenses. Also the 2 head coaches are outstanding! Both are right there climbing the list for all time wins.

This would be a wonderful series to start up!

  15. Speaking of transfers, when you won your only state championship your best player lived in Harlan County.

Bell County has a lot of students that live in Harlan County, but come to Bell because it is actually a shorter drive than it is to any of the highschools in Harlan. Also, there is a lot of Bell County kids who go to Tennesee or other areas because the drive is shorter.

And I will say that some kids do come to Bell County because they like our sports programs. But that usually happens once out of every 3 or 4 years.

And I am not trying to get into an argument over the issue, but Highlands attracts a lot of talented kids to transfer in. I am not accusing anyone of recruiting, but thats just the way it is. Wasn't the Nevels kid a transfer as well? It happens a great deal at Highlands.

  16. Both teams are great programs and I think another thing that makes the rivalry more interesting is the way SOME people, and I am not accusing anyone of this, but its true, portray the areas where each team are.

Highlands is in an area that is very wealthy. It is a program that gets a lot of transfers in that are great football players. Also I am not accusing anyone of recruiting because I believe good athletes and their families seek out good programs sometime to send their players to.

Bell County is portrayed some as a school right in the Appalachian Mountains and some people think of the people as hicks. And there is some. lol. And both teams really want to beat each other when they face.

I do think both programs really respect each other though.

  17. We could talk all day about the middleschool football teams and all that stuff and debate who is better. We have no way of knowing. You guys feel good about what you have coming up. And in Bell Co we feel good about what we have coming up.

Now a question I am wondering is what will Rock bring back next year? Bell, I am pretty sure returns 13 starters and some key backups. Bell lost a great WR, a RB, 2 O linemen, 2 D linemen, safety, and a linebacker.

  18. SouthEastBell - That post was very laughable. You give absoultely NO CREDIT to a young Rock team that came out and dominated Bell County, instead you just said they played awful. News Flash, Rock had a little something to do with that. Bell County had already had the game won at least from the fans perspective. Everyone had Log Mountain all built up to be some sort of shrine that no one can win at. Not only did Rock win there they shut Bell County out. All week people were mentioning matchups, "ole' Bell County played Knoxville Central tough, no way anyone from around here beats them."

Just to let you know about Rock, not too mention the other teams in the district or tri-county area but Rock had an undefeated freshmen team that outscored their opponents 310-26. The junior class was also undefeated. The 8th grade team has possibly the best QB and RB to ever grace the sidelines at Rockcastle. Only time will tell, but to say that no one will beat them in the next 6-7 years is so funny. I thought you would be more knowledgable than that.

Sports4Life - Clay County does have a great coming up and some fine young men in high school already. Just remember I'm not sure about Bell County but Rock hasn't been any lower than a 2 seed since 1991. 15 straight years of being a 2 seed or better. That will be a huge flip flop from 1 or 2 to 3 or 4.

I remember it was fairly balanced some people picking Bell and some people picking Rock to win. And YES, Bell is a tough place to play at. Rock simply had the better team. With all things equal, Bell being at home I like the Bobcats, obviously they weren't equal. You obviously wasn't paying attention if you think people down here do not respect Rock as a good program.

As for the future Bell's freshmen, JV, and middleschool teams all went undefeated.

The freshmen and JV did it without 4 of the main freshmen and several sophomores who were playing varsity.

Now Im not saying all this stuff simply bragging, but I am stating that the future looks really bright at Bell the same as it does at Rock.

  19. Rockastle was really impressive tonight. Bell did not play well, but a lot of that can be given credit to Rock. Bell is also very young. There was 3 freshmen that started and 4 of them basically played the whole game on one side of the ball or the other. Bell is very young. I think Bell loses like 5 defensive starters and 4 offensive starters. The team had a great year, but Rock executed much better than Bell on Friday night.

A problem Bell had all year is not being able to run the football consistently against good teams. We passed a lot partially out of necessity. It really showed tonight. This should be a wakeup call to the O line and the returning backs that they have to bust their tails in the offseason in order to play with Rock next year.

Congrats to the seniors! They have a lot to be proud about. Players like Buckeye Hunter and Dustin Mason will definitly be missed.
