  1. Started Freshman and moved up to varsity after freshman season.

You could possibly be correct about best ever. I am just waiting to see what Casey McGinnis does this year and you also have to consider Gabe Gray since he almost broke the scoring record and actually only started two years. I think after this year Casey Mcginnis Will hold most of the rushing records along with scoring record’s besides most carries and most 100 yard games. You also can’t count out some of the running backs from the late 80s and early 90s. I would never take anything away from Madden‘s game. He was a beast to be reckoned with.

Ran the ball w/ the mentality of a linebacker. I will never forget the last practice of the NKY All Star game prep. The safety from Newport had been talking trash all week to him, knowing that we weren't really going to hit. No pads, last day, last carry, what does Madden do? Runs right at and over him. Kind of a cheap shot, but also a closer glimpse at Madden. Funny dude as well.

  2. 71-69 Highlands over Warren Central. Highlands was twice with the ball with the chance to run clock Warren Central and could never punch it in. Second half, Warren Central comes storming back. Not for sure, game lasted close to 3.5 hrs, and is in the record books as one of the top offensive performances combined in the state!

LONGEST GAME EVER. It was like watching Arena Football. Warren Central's QB had that long Vince Young stride. He had to run for over 200 yards that game.

  3. Yeah ... thats right ... because you actually spoke to the Athletic Direction, Noel Rash and the Soccer Coach. I know for a fact that you haven't spoken to at least 2 of those people ... so do yourself a favor ... give a call to AD Booth and Coach Rash .. and ask their opinion of the situation. I am 100% sure that they will be more than happy to fill you in on what is REALLY going on.

I do agree with one thing that you said ... this is about CONTROL. But the control isn't necessarily coming from the direction that you are alluding to. l

When it comes to the soccer argument ... Beechwood had natural grass. Many people complained because there was a perfectly good football field that they could use instead of using the grass field (which is really funny when you consider how many injuries occurred on the turf ... that were directly related to the age of said turf). People complained ... said it wasn't fair (pretty funny with that ... because the KHSAA never raised any Title 9 issues in regard to facilities for Soccer vs other sports).

So ... the powers that be decided that they would try to find a way to come up with funding to add turf to the top fields. They find the funding ... they get it done. The soccer programs now have THEIR OWN facilities. They have TURF ... they have LIGHTS ... they have room for plenty of fans (I am not going to talk about the part where there are rarely more than a handful of fans).

How many teams in NKY or even the state have THEIR OWN field ... that is steps away from school and an athletic facility that is 2nd to none one?

Can someone explain to me .. how the field up top isn't good enough for the soccer programs? I understand the previous situation when there was no turf. What in the heck does that have to do with football ... or Noel Rash in particular? The school went out and found the money to take care of the situation ... and that still isn't good enough. Seriously... the people in this thread sound like a bunch of spoiled malcontents who think it has to be their way or no way.

All the varsity girls and boys games are on the big field (EVERY ONE) ... you don't think football is adjusting their schedule for that?

All the other teams outside of soccer are making due with their space. Do yourself a favor and go up to Beechwood this week ... and see how many people are using the big field on the average day. If football was the end all be all ... how come there are usually a minimum of 150 kids on the big field practicing ... working on the sled, using the chutes, working on field goal/extra point ... which you walk up top ... and there is a TON of open space ... and there are no where near as many kids using the facilities up top.

So again ... please explain to me why a nearly brand new turf field ... with lights is not good enough for the soccer program.

(And when you do ... please keep in mind that this isn't just about Soccer or football ... and remember that the freaking track team practices on a track that has 90 degree corners on one end ... pretty funny how no one complains about that).

This has nothing to do with the track team. This is all about The field up top isn't big enough for Varsity soccer. Simple. It isn't about being spoiled, it is about hosting an event, and then not providing a field sufficiently sized for the athletes.

If he, or Rash, didn't want to change the practice schedule, then the event should never have been held there. Again, it is that simple. How can Bryson Warner permit Soccerama at Ryle w/out an issue a few years ago? How can other schools with football permit this event? Why is this year the year that they decided that it couldn't be done? I feel like Beechwood is a terrible place to host this event, but it is their turn. So, if you are going to hold the event, then you should host it correctly. What is spoiled about that? What is ungrateful about that?

  4. Officials could be had for a Friday morning/afternoon match. All your college showcases are held Friday through Sunday, and there are always officials available for them. I know one who works Monday through Thursday so he has Friday through Sunday available to officiate. Therefore, finding officials isn't a valid reason for an evening match. Now, I'm not siding with either side on this issue at Beechwood. I'm just saying officials could be had for a day game.

Correct, if they wanted to keep it small like a showcase, they could, BUT NKAC treats this as a money maker. Comparatively speaking, more people come to Soccerama than to any other soccer related event, outside of the Regional Final. The crowd is, hypothetically, supposed to be better.

Again, never been an issue at any other school that I know of.

  5. So why can't the soccer team play when football is not on the field during the day? I mean it's ANY OTHER TIME when football is not on their own field since school is not in session. Are you telling me attendance for a high school soccer game in Kentucky is going to suffer because it is not played on a football field? No matter where you have the games the same people are going to show up regardless. One field has football lines and one doesn't. It makes sense on which one the football team should be able to use.

This is held at schools that have 1 field for football and soccer almost every year. This is the first time that a Friday night game couldn’t get a Varsity sized field. It is like Beechwood football taking part in a scrimmage at an NKY event held on CovCath’s baseball field do the soccer team can practice. Makes no sense

  6. In this instance I believe it will suffer. I have no connection to either school that is playing the Friday night game but would very much like to attend since it will be a quality match. If the viewing area is the same as last years which was from the corner of the school to the left field foul line then I will save my money since you can't see a quarter of the field down the right foul line from the spectators area. I'm willing to guess I will not be the only that feels this way.

You aren’t. Spoke with a couple others who said the same. This is about control

  7. I think from the H.S. standpoint, Allen reminds me of Jon Hood. I think most forget that Hood was ranked a top 50 player and Mr. Basketball in Ky during his senior year. He didn't have an overwhelming college career, but at the H.S. level I think their games are comparable. About the same height and build. Both can shoot from outside, but Hood could also finish at the rim like Allen. In H.S. both play/played at a relatively small H.S. where they are/were the best player on the floor by far.

Darius IMO was a much more physical player in H.S. But I think Allen is the better shooter.

Didn't Hood really mess up his knee at UK?

  8. On the roster note, isn't it great that the roster is posted almost a month before the first game rather than the day of? Amazing how having an Athletic Director that is organized and a go-getter can do for an athletic program. Times have changed for the better at Highlands.

Mr. Nieporte attended a Soccer Board Meeting on Sunday. That is crazy to me. I was glad to see him. You are right, it is definitely an engagement improvement. Day-to-day stuff??? I wouldn't know anything about that, but he is making himself known and seen. That breeds confidence.

  9. What “right” is it you speak of? It’s a multipurpose field, and he has no right over any other. It’s classic Beechwood politics, for all the good that school has going for it, they are incredibly unequal with how they treat sports.

As a public school eventually they are going to get in deep trouble for that. I suspect that is the only reason the new field was forced to put soccer lines down.

If football had gotten their way it wouldn’t have had them.

The "right" comes from the fact that it doesn't actually impact Beechwood's soccer team, just where their program hosts a neutral preseason game. Now, if this was Districts or Regionals then I could see major issues.

  10. It’s should be even simpler than that. Games>practice. End of story. Teams wanting to preactice need to be off the field 30 min prior to game time. To not do so should incur fines from khsaa.

I get your point, but this is preseason for soccer w/ Beechwood acting as a neutral field so I don't see what type of enforcement there could possibly be. Rash not giving up the field is his right, I suppose. Football is the money maker. It just, in my opinion, is a bad look for him. You have a week of 2-a-days by the time Friday night rolls around. Beechwood hosts this event on a rotating basis, so in another 18 years? This isn't an annual inconvenience.

In truth, it really isn't that big of a deal, and I may be coming across as petty myself, but it doesn't make sense. Why not help another coach in your own school promote a regional event in their sport? Is the main reason that it promotes the other fall big male sport? I mean, it is Beechwood football v Beechwood soccer. There is only one winner there, so why not help Rechtin run this thing right as a goodwill gesture?

  11. We just cut 22% of our non manufacturing work force yesterday. 2,200 jobs eliminated.

That’s a blood letting. United Natural Foods just bought Safeway and is going to start selling off their assets. Invest in yourself, people. It is the only job security that you have.

  12. I know, in that area a lot. Seems like it took you guys a little longer than expected, but looks nice and I'm glad those building were rehabbed.

A lot longer. Kids should grow up to be plumbers.

The main problem was we had no way to know what to build until people signed leases which happened in October and November of last year. Then it was delay after delay.

  13. Your side hustle the businesses or the rehab? (or both?)

Trying to make it real estate. These are 2 of 3 buildings. We rehabbed and leased them. My other is a multi-family. I'd, ultimately, like to get up to 25 buildings or 100 units. Whichever is first.

  14. Hosted by Beechwood. I can't for the life of me, understand having it at Beechwood with the way that Rash kungfu grips the field. Highlands v Ryle is at 8pm on Friday. It is a rematch of the 9th region championship and a match-up of 2 of the top 3 teams in the state. Pretty cool preseason game, and probably would draw one of the larger crowds that these two will play in front of this year.......and Rash refuses to give up the field so that the football team can practice at 8pm on the first Friday night in August? Can't sports teams work together? I know that Yeagle was HUGELY opposed to soccer at Beechwood, and I'm guessing that Rash feels the same way, but I mean, this is pretty petty. In my humble opinion.
