USATF has more opportunities. They also have more elite meets and the chance to compete on the US Junior teams. In the Junior Olympic meets however both can be great experiences. AAU offers an Olympic type experience. Their national meet also includes Basketball, Swimming, Field Hockey and gymnastic competitions. Clubs and kids decide on the meets they run at by the location of the National meet or who they feel may be there. Nice cities (Fla. Cali) or meets that are close are usually the deciding factor. A lot of kids run both meets. Nationals are very seldom on the same weekends in July or August. AAU also has more age groups (younger) for kids to compete in. Both are great meets but USATF is the sports governing body. Their National Meet is Track only. It willoften be at a great facility and have the best officials. I dont think you can go wrong with either meet

Looking at all that Bardstown lost from last year and how young Ft Campbell was ..plus the people that Ft Campbell didnt get out of the really strong AA Region they were in. I think they have the edge. This should make for a very exciting Class A meet this year.Its a long time till June !

If I had a freshman throwing 27 I would be happy . Id start looking down the road and try and improve a few feet a year and improve my technique. At that rate she would be throwing "close" to 40 ' be her Sr. year. Good Luck to her this season ! :thumb:

I dont think you could consider her that young and 27' would be average at best. If she is throwing 27' now hopefully it will increase this season and the following two years. I dont see anything to worry about even if she was throwing further.How far she throws isnt a problem as much as how much she may be (or not be) training. :thumb:

AAU Basketball eligibility is determined by Grade? In track its determined by birth year. It seems more logical to me. i can just imagine some of the cases of kids in the "wrong" grade playing against younger or less skilled players. How do you confirm this at the National level? :confused:

In Football Trinity is not our schools biggest "money" game. It was Male. They have been added to the schedule again and another team was dropped. Trinity will remain because they are a district foe. There are several schools that can duplicate the revenue for these schools. And once again we keep talking about football. What is it going to cost to send all the JV and frosh teams all over the State to play? If you have to "play the best to be the best" as i keep hearing here. What happens to the Basketball, Baseball, Wrestling, Softball and Soccer teams from these schools? How are these coaches going to feel if they have to schedule miles from home. I have a small budget for my team, i have to raise my own money to make ends meet and be able to travel out of town. Busses cost me $300 dollars on the average. (we cant have a private bus or transport kids in vans) Who wants to travel 50 to 60 miles one way during the week with young kids. If you look past football it could get to be a scheduling nightmare for some schools. You also have to look past X and Trinity. KCD, Collegiate, Sacred Heart,Mercy, St.Francis, Beth Haven and Christian Acd. are all private schools. Im sure "some peoples" opinion is every man for himself. Thats why we have this problem now. Id like to hear the opinions of other private and public school "coaches" about this action. Its not being called a boycott. Just schedule system schools first.

Im not absolutly sure of the numbers but Eastern , Central, Manual, Ballard, Seneca....are the few i know off the top of my head. I believe there are only 16 schools that play and most are private schools. Its not a sanctioned KHSAA sport so im sure they will continue to play, they really have no choice if they want to compete

I guess they cant...........so why do people keep arguing that it makes no sense and that the JCPS will regret it. Its not going to hurt JCPS schools either........ other than the fact that one day i may be asked to exclude a friend from my schedule. Other than a few coaches whom i respect and enjoy competing against i could care less if i have a private school on my schedule or not. I think you're going to find that a lot of coaches in the JCPS dont feel that playing private schools make or break their program................except maybe Field Hockey. This group stands to lose something since there are only a few schools in Jefferson Co. that participate, and we know who they are.

I guess im just beating my head against the wall telling you that its happening now. If you need more proof maybe some of the Trinity players can tell you who is and who is not on their schedule for next year. This means at all levels Frosh , JV and Varsity. I dont think its going to matter to the larger schools public and private. To be honest id like to know what the big deal is. They will have to meet in playoffs, and this is what really counts.

Sorry to say its not a rumor. We will see if it takes off but i already know of schools making the transition to scheduling public schools first .District games have to be played but that is the exception. Im sure it will take a couple of years ,but thats the direction we're going as of right now.

Its not about just football and its not about winning. No JCPS schools are beating Male either. So i dont think anyones hiding from private schools. I know there are some private schools who would like for the larger schools to get on the bandwagon as far as the rules go. As i think about it the group that will be hurt the most are the smaller schools. Im sure the larger schools could care less about a boycott. They have their own agenda and can do without JCPS schools. Its seems, as i said, that fans are one group that will not like this. If youre going to get your trophy at the end of the year do you still need to play a JCPS school? Why are you upset if the JCPS schools are the losers in this? Another thing just because some people dont choose to report things going on it doesnt mean its not happening. Proving some of this and the end result may be more trouble than its worth. Some coaches complain about this stuff but id rather concentrate on my team. It doesnt really matter to me who ends up at another school if they werent coming to mine.

Most of you are only looking at one sport ...Football. and two schools Trinity and St.X There are more sports and more private schools than this. This is where they will have problems. In Fayette Co the boycott was against one school. This looks like it will include all private schools guilty or not .Its going to get pretty expensive for most to try and compete out of State and out in the state. As far as playing the best, JCPS schools can go out and play the same "good" teams that Trinity and X play. In some sports public schools may be the "best." Will private schools be hurt? Can Saint X Basketball improve without playing JCPS schools? I dont think any school system programs will really be hurt by this. Im sure fans will though and also some friendships.There are some good rivalry games in various sports that may no longer be held. This unofficial boycott will probably include facilities and equipment as well. This we have already seen. I hate to be dragged into this because of something that "may" be going on in other sports. In non revenue sports a lot of us coaches have to work together to get things done in our sport. Most of us are good friends. This is whats bad about something like this. ......one more thing, recruiting always seems to be the big issue brought up. From what i hear there are more things that boil down to some schools not adhering to standard rules.....# of coaches, Sunday practices and compettitions. All of these things are perfectly ok for private schools to do because they dont fall under anybodys jurisdiction. This is where JCPS powers that be have a problem. Hopefully it will be worked out, if not look for seperate Championships in the future.
