As someone who has paid attention to this program for the last 4-5 years and admired for many years prior and have been watching this thread very frequently. These rumors are essentially fact. This KY coaching fraternity runs deep in this area and coaches talk. This top 5 program in Central KY with a plethora of athletes, top teacher pay for the area, administrative support, and investment in facilities has not kept up with the surrounding areas and times. They had 3 paid assistants and 2 volunteers last year because this program refuses to attract quality assistants. They have new administration all around in the last few years, from the superintendent, high school principal, both assistant principals, and seem to approve of extracurriculars, but do not seem to truly value it. This is not the Glasgow that won 9 out of 12 district championships from 2010-2021. There are a lot of good people who care about these kids in the staff, who have largely coached many of the kids since middle school, but it just feels like they are succeeding in spite of the parents and administration, not with their support. I don't blame Coach Griffin for everything involved, he did the exact same thing last year when he was offered the barren county job, he wants what is best for himself and his family. Glasgow seems to be okay allowing it to happen. It's just another job vacancy that needs to be filled for them. Surprising to me how they seem content allowing a coach take so much time in deciding, allegedly a 3rd personal option of his, when another candidate is hungry for the opportunity and qualified. Perhaps Glasgow is taking this approach because they have the recently retired coach Garmon in their back pocket who loves the program so much has publicly stated he would resume coaching duties is they couldn't find anyone better to replace him and potentially become an assistant if the new coach needed help.
